WC 2011: Over The Nexus[edit]

Hey, I just wanted to ask you about the info you put on 5D's World Championship 2011: Over the Nexus. Is it true, or are you just putting what you want it to have? You're not in trouble or anything, it's just that I want to know where you got this info. If it's real, could you show me where you got it from? Alright, I'm out. Ryko = Raikou[edit]

Funny, "Raikou" is also the name from one Legendary Pokemon, which is also base on lightning. Coincidence pretty much? --FredCat 10:26, April 26, 2011 (UTC)

Machina Gadget[edit]

Please, both you and Nobody-, go to talk about that directly in the talk page of Machina Gadget. You can ask for some opinion there and we'll decide what to do. --Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 23:28, May 24, 2011 (UTC)

Well, that's not true, my Machina Deck went top 10 without Cyber Dragon, as it's only base on Earth/Machine theme deck. --FredCat 00:48, May 25, 2011 (UTC)
Well, Cyber Dragon can be staple for each deck, but I can fighting without him. It's call an experience, not strategy. --FredCat 00:57, May 25, 2011 (UTC)
Better? --FredCat 01:03, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

How do you summon Frozen Fitzgerald, there is no DARK tuner. --Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 19:17, June 20, 2011 (UTC)

If you can't handle the ribbing, get out of the arena.[edit]

So just because I rightfully called you an elitist for trying to bash my head in with this drivel until I submit, I'm insulting your intelligence and dueling skill? You yourself keep harping on the importance of "advantage" (which is BS and makes no sense to me STILL), snd you yourself even said you don't consider any deck lists other than the Regionals 32 to be considered any good, so why shouldn't I label you an elitist? If the shoe fits, wear it. If you don't like it, don't comment, plain and simple. I'm not going to be pushed around by you, and I've certainly shown you more respect than I've shown other elitist bastards on here.SynjoDeonecros (talkcontribs) 19:59, June 22, 2011 (UTC)

If "learning how to play better" means "conforming to the elitist standard like you have", then no, I do NOT want to "learn how to play better", thanks.

And yes, I HAVE shown you more respect than you deserve, than what I've given other elitists on here; I wouldn't have bothered to let you talk for so long and either undone your posts to avoid a flame war and/or reported you to the mods for trolling, so consider yourself lucky I didn't. SynjoDeonecros (talkcontribs) 20:16, June 22, 2011 (UTC)

Respect[edit]

  • I have to say, I have a newfound admiration for you. I've seen you before, and was aware that you're a competitive player also, but didn't think much of it, but after seeing you deal with such an unreasonable, irritating and unworthy (of the time) person, you have sincerely gained my respect. I just don't have a long enough fuse to deal with people like that. Commendable for the effort.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 20:18, June 22, 2011 (UTC)

Nordics[edit]

Nordics actually have some of the best draw and search power. They have Horn of the Phantom Beast, Tanngnjostr, and Gleipnir.BobaFett2 (talk)

General Guide[edit]

If I'm not mistaken, Backrow is all Spells and Traps, not just set ones. The 40 card minimum is good but not necessarily the only thing to stick to. Gadgets often use a bit more. Cards like Pot of Duality and Upstart Goblin can be added if it increases your deck above the minimum because they still add consistency in threes. Sangan was a popular choice as a floater but now Gale and Genex Ally Birdman are much more prevalent. Sangan was one of the first true monster staples (I'm almost certain) or Witch of the Black Forest was. If not them, then perhaps Effect Veiler or Gorz. Genex Ally Birdman is somewhat a semi-staple and so is Gale. Duality is a staple-it's in just about every deck excluding Six Samurai. Pot of Avarice isn't really a card to be avoided-it's very common now and it's an awesome card.

More pitfalls:

  • The only Life Point that matters is the last one: You can pay almost all of your Life Points and still win. Life Point costs that give you a good effect are worth using.
  • Nobody won from having lots of Life Points: The only valid way to win with lots of Life Points is the Flint Lock Loop and even then you don't actually win without another card.
  • A good strategy doesn't need weaker cards: Before you settle upon a strategy or specific cards for it, think about whether it's just a weaker, stylized version of another strategy.
  • Legal OTK decks are usually inconsistent: OTK strategies that are legal in Advanced TCG are either going to take a hit or are not very consistent.

BobaFett2 (talk)

Somehow, the Upstart thing actually works out (plus, quite a few top YCS decks use 41 or 42 cards). I think I'm off about Birdman but a lot of the top YCS decks do use Gale (I'm pretty sure that it's a Semi-Staple). Veiler is a Semi-Staple if not a Staple-it is amazing and has seen lots of tournament play. You said that Reborn Tengu is the first true Monster Staple. Back when the game was much slower, Sangan/Witch were almost definitely staples. And Gorz was pretty close to being/was a staple a while back.BobaFett2 (talk)

Thanks![edit]

For taking time to help me with my Dragonsworn deck. I really appreciate it. --Kungfu-mama(talk) 18:46, July 24, 2011 (UTC)

Guide[edit]

"In most situations, the player with 10 cards at his disposal will almost always beat the player with only 3 cards." Perhaps mention that if this player with three cards is using Infernities, he has a huge chance of winning. "Tengu is one of the only true monster Staple" (forgot an "s" at the end). Also, to deckbuilding dont's: Add "Anime decks are bad. If you want to make a good deck, don't emulate anime characters" or something along those lines. BobaFett2 (talk)

Didn't mean all of them, but with Cyber Dragon, well its enough, I think. ---Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 00:40, August 2, 2011 (UTC)
That is a good thing, it means we can lightly edit this build, however I'll just make a Ruling post on the Forums to make sure, but it should work out. But, I seriously think that the Cyber Dragon would work better than the Trident, it give access to Level 6,7,8,or 9, while Trident only gives access to level 7 Synchros. We don't have to include Eltanin , I just think the Cyber Dragon would work better. ---Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 13:08, August 2, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Malefic[edit]

That seems pretty much perfect from what i can see,

engines, virus, necrovalley, all the key points covered,

only other thing i can think of is that Cyber End & Starudst, are oft used in CB/GK decks, but that's probably for their sections rather than this one,

GJ

-Resk () 23:12, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

I checked it out, you did great with all part, except for one. "Skill Drain" - It don't prevent your hand limitation as well. As I mentioned, all "Malefic" except for Tuner one have their effect of limited to 1 "Malefic" on the field (or for Malefic Paradox Dragon, himself) is continuous effect; make it not workable unless you shove in some Book of Moon or the latter cards that have it effect to cover up the summon-prevent. Hope I helped to cover the missing part. --FredCat 23:41, August 1, 2011 (UTC)

General[edit]

I was reading your Guide for General, and I noticed this, now I'm sure you know how to link pages outside this wiki, but you had [http://yugioh.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?ID=2319| Card Presence and Card Advantage by Jason Grabher-Meyer], but that link actually didn't work right, it took me to the main page of TCGPlayer. What should have been there is this, [http://yugioh.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?ID=2319 Card Presence and Card Advantage by Jason Grabher-Meyer], you don't need the "|", it messes up the link, just a reminder.---Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 21:15, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

I'm going through and editing these links, so future readers, won't get a runaround. ---Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 21:17, August 3, 2011 (UTC)
Also, did you read that Article titled, "A World Without Giant Trunade", I thought that guy wrote somewhat decent articles until I read this the article was a bit off, sure it promotes fast decks, but it also helps slower ones, not every deck can get Black Rose. ---Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 21:25, August 3, 2011 (UTC)
His other things are fine, this one is just a bit off.BobaFett2 (talk)
I never said his others were bad, but come on, this is a little off on the minds of duelists, but lets not create a heated discussion out of this, I just wanted to tell you about the links. ---Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 21:36, August 3, 2011 (UTC)
I'm not arguing with you, I'm saying that it comes off as extremely rude (what it says is that all of his posts are bad because of this one).BobaFett2 (talk)
Yes, I suppose it did come out that way, well, I didn't mean it that way, actually I didn't even need to bring this up, I seem to have a horrible habit of doing this sort of thing. Sorry BF2 and Lappy. ---Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 21:57, August 3, 2011 (UTC)
Also need a quick thought, is Gozen Match, not really worth using Main decked? I did so in my GK, and I'm just wondering, I know its usually a side card, but hey Tengu Plants. ---Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 21:49, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

Most decks that use Synchro Monsters will not deal with it well. For example, it works against Flamvell. It stops Miracle Gemini, Monarchs (to some extent), Disaster Dragon, Gladiator Beasts (temporarily), Quickdraw/Junk/Doppel, Six Samurai, Zombies (they can't get Librarian and Trishula) plus some Rogue/Sub-Meta Decks (Morphtronic, Flamvell, Nordics, and Fortune Lady). It's best mained in Scraps since you can't destroy it if it's useless to you.BobaFett2 (talk)

To Lappyzard[edit]

I need to apologize, I shouldn't have posted that comment about the article, it was unnecessary, and rude. I hope you can accept this apology, Lappyzard. ---Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 22:18, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

Deck Guide:Naturia[edit]

Forum:Deck Guide/Naturia. Another guide done. All help appreciated.BobaFett2 (talk)

Re:[edit]

I meant on Dueling Network, but I decided to take both out for a Comp. EVAC Device and Mirror Force, I ended up losing last moment, against a Spellcaster deck no less, because I drew Gozen instead of something like, Device or Mirror, plus today's little fight with the scrub. ---Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 03:46, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

RE:[edit]

I like Safe Zone but isn't it too vulnerable to removal by Ryko/Lyla? I'll list both except in the Wanhu lockdown. Also, the Mosquito Beans thing stops your opponent from destroying your monsters and deals them damage instead of yourself-doesn't that qualify as a lock? Pineapple won't work in the Wanghu lockdown because of Safe Zone and Burden of the Mighty as well as Naturia Cliff. The Mosquito decks needs Decree so it can't have Safe Zone (Lance/Chalice won't hurt it at all-you boost your opponent's monsters or reduce your own and protect them). The Dark Door is simply necessary and Sarcophagus searches for it. The Plant Lockdown was intended to be Forest Control (I forgot the Forest) so I'm modifying it per your suggestion. That's why it uses Gigaplant (I'll take it out if you are also suggesting doing that). That's the Forest Control deck (except I forgot Naturia Forest). I'll take off the Karakuri/Naturia ones. BobaFett2 (talk)

I took lance out of every build except the one with Decree.BobaFett2 (talk)

What notable loops are there? I have the Dewloren (Coelocanth-based) loop, the Gusto Exodia loop, the Butterfly Dagger - Elma loops, the Cactus Fighter OTK loop, the old Colossal Fighter/Armory Arm loop with Rekindling and with Coelocanth, the Quillbolt burn loop, the Manticore of Darkness Loop, both X-Saber Loops (Faultroll/Ragigura and Palomuro/Axel), and Chain Material OTK loops.BobaFett2 (talk)

Yeah, I said the thing about two Colossals. The Fire Princess one seems pretty unwieldy.BobaFett2 (talk)

Exodia[edit]

Since the RML Exodia Deck is focused on an FTK, perhaps Into the Void and Momentary Truce instead of Bamboo Swords (they haven't worked for me although I may just be guessing from experience).

I've found that a brand of Heart of the Underdog Exodia that uses Veil of Darkness and DARK Normal Monsters is more consistent since you now have two "draw" cards.

Perhaps Naturia Ragweed could also work in the Appropriate Exodia deck.BobaFett2 (talk)

I can't finish the loop guide tonight. I'm still searching for one or two loops.BobaFett2 (talk)

Exodia[edit]

recently i have been editing the Exodia OTK page because it was VERY VERY Blehhh. I was just wondering if you could help me out on editing this page because the last few editors have just been spamming eyesores and it would be nice to have a little help.

I placed some of them in Deck box form to shorten the page, way too long of a page with not very little info as to insight on Exodia. Also would you want me to Redirect the Exodia OTK to your deck guide on Exodia? it only makes sense to. Ahampster1 (talkcontribs) 02:43, August 5, 2011 (UTC)

New Side Deck for Dragunities[edit]

I want to make a new side deck for my Dragunity Deck. Basically, I remove all of my Dragunities and Icarus attack then add in Disaster Dragon stuff. I'll keep in Ravine as it maintains synergy. I'll also keep Phalanx in since it's a Tuner monster. Then, I'd add in three REDMD, three Wyvern, one White Night Dragon, three Lancer Lindwurm (or would Dodger Dragon be better?), and two Life Stream Dragons. My reasoning is that they'll be siding against Dragunities-without that same reliance on my Graveyard, they'll have to deal with quite a few dead cards. Sure, I'll be sending a few Dragon-Type monsters with Ravine, but that's no issue. Is this a good idea? If so, is the lineup good? If not, why is it bad and what would be better?BobaFett2 (talk)

Your Guide is Useless[edit]

i have won with 60 card decks and i won after playing Draining Shield and Magic Cylinder and i was up against Slifer Darth Rishda (talkcontribs) 12:06, August 20, 2011 (UTC)

That last word explains everything. Slifer has not yet been released. As of yet, there is no information on his effects, so you were probably dueling someone of equal skill. Which means that you were both not using the guide, meaning that winning doesn't reflect upon it at all.BobaFett2 (talk)
well i have thrashed everyone i know who plays yugioh someone was in a championship league without this guide plus it has nothing about Burn Deck's. And it was on Tag Force 5. —This unsigned comment was made by DarthRishda (talkcontribs) 10:58, 2011 August 21
Top-notch Yugioh decks used to be easier to make and most old ones (except FTKs) are not as good any more. Burn decks are bad in general, with the exception of Chain Burn and FTKs.BobaFett2 (talk)
A few Equip Spell Cards are good. Namely, Mark of the Rose, Symbol of Heritage, Premature Burial, and Snatch Steal. The latter two are banned, for good reason.BobaFett2 (talk)
There's probably a few more, but I can't remember them all (Wonder Wand and Falling Down too).BobaFett2 (talk)
Although there will never be a guide that is perfect for everything. There is a reason why 60 card decks have never won any official tournaments. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 12:08, August 21, 2011 (UTC)

And on the rulings for Hundred Eyes Dragon it says that it will lose the effect it gains but later on it says it keeps the effect now im confused.Darth Rishda (talkcontribs) 11:50, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

I've won with Magic Cylinder too before but that doesn't make it good. It's just not worth using in today's metagame.BobaFett2 (talk)

Normal Guide[edit]

Here's a few little nitpicks: "Reptile.Machine hybrid is champion." (Cyber Alligator). "t destroys them in the edn Phase, b" (Rescue Rabbit). Scrap Archfiend is also a non-effect Synchro Monster.

Also, Level 3- decks don't make sense because you don't have the benefit of the better support. Level 2- is the best (and you can use it to get tribute summons for large monsters with (League of Uniform Nomenclature). Symbols of Duty is a -1 but it lets you Special Summon your opponent's monster, so it may be worth noting.BobaFett2 (talk)

I resent your comment that Level 3 deks don't make sense:

This deck is amazing. It consistently beats top-teir decks. Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 13:42, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, I meant something else. Level 3 and lower decks aren't bad, it's just that there's another decktype that I was thinking about. Human-Wave Motion has little place in those decks.BobaFett2 (talk)

Yeah, and my apologies for butting in. I also feel the guide is a little flawed. As someone who runs a Vanilla Deck ,I felt some of the things in there were...... just weird. Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 13:51, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

Re:[edit]

Sure thing, and apologies if I came off as rude. Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 15:48, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, it's overall a good guide, though. However, I think you sold them a bit short in the meta ranking area.

I'd say:

  • Speed - 7/10 because of cards like White Elephants Gift and of course Enchanted Fitting Room.
  • Power - I agree, 8/10.
  • Consistency - 6/10 because even with all those draw/search cards, hands full of nothing but monsters are possible and do happen.
  • Draw/Search power - I agree again. Heart of the Underdog, White Elepahant's Gift, Common Charity, etc. And, as seen with my deck, teching an Allure of Darkness is possible.
  • Overall - I'd say a solid 7. Thier 'surprises' can be devastating.

But, that's just me basing it off of my deck. Things like Fitting Room won't help Level 4 Vanilla decks and not all Vanilla decks can use Allure. Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 16:02, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

Quick question RE: Dragon Exodia Deck[edit]

Hi Lappy. First of all thank you for making the deck I have tried it online and it seems to be going quite well! i just had a clarification that i needed. say magical citidel and royal magical library are on the field at the same time. my magical citidel has say 12 spell counters and my royal magic library has three. now using the effect of magical citidel can i send all its counters (12) and draw 4 cards or can i only send the max number that royal magic library can send (3) and draw 1 card

if you could clear that up for me it would be great

thanks

WDC[edit]

Wow. Just wow. Your deck has to be the most inventive use of a Legendary Planet I've ever seen - a one-sided lockdown is great! I'm confident that you can win this contest. Battlemaniac (talkcontribs) 15:33, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

Decks for free[edit]

Dear lappy,

I have been keeping an eye on Decks for Free! And was wondering how I could become a deck creator. I'm very good at building deck and I have access to internet so I can keep eveything within the designated price ranges. If you could please get back to me as soon as possible and thank you in advance for your help. SquirtleHero (talkcontribs) 03:18, August 30, 2011 (UTC)

The Third and Final Test Complete![edit]

Ok so the Archetype you told me about was completly new to me (I was out of Yugioh! for their intro packs) and i had a little bit of trouble but i think i have an idea of how the archetype works. I gave this deck a playtest and it seems to work, though i haven't gotten to play test it against some thing super pro like Six Samurai but i think it would stand a chance.

Ok so i decided to focus the deck on controling my opponents actions. The deck focuses heavily on preventing special summons using Ice, Thunder King and Drago while at the same time crippling what cards they can play by using cards such as MST, Rooklord, and Skill Drain. Since the deck doesn't do a whole lot of Special Summoning itself and its rather slow on its own i decided to add in Pot of Duality and Morphing Jar to speed the deck up a bit. To me the deck worked just fine and i think it would be a real danger to most modern day Meta Decks. SquirtleHero (talkcontribs) 01:49, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

Deck Guide[edit]

I'd suggest adding Scrap-Iron Scarecrow to some list of cards not to use: I've seen it used here far too often and it just isn't that good. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 12:44, September 4, 2011 (UTC)

Exodia Guide[edit]

Xyz Materials are no longer monsters on the field. Tour Guide is no longer that useful for Exodia. BF2 Talk Deck Guides

Mind Crush and Trap Dustshoot[edit]

I have two Trap Dustshoot and one Mind Crush to put in my decks: Agents, Dragunity, and Gladiator Beasts. What would be the optimal placement of these cards? BF2 Talk Deck Guides 21:09, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
