• This card is useful for searching (or possibly recovering) "Forbidden One" monsters, hastening the victory condition of "Exodia the Forbidden One".
• Using its anime usage as an example, this card can be useful in a "Dark Magician" deck. It can help Tribute Summon a "Dark Magician" (or any other Spellcaster requiring Tributes) with ease, even using itself as Tribute fodder, and when it leaves the field it can search out another "Dark Magician", setting up later moves.
• If this card is in your Graveyard, Special Summon it with cards like "Call of the Haunted", "Pinpoint Guard", and other related cards to get it back on the field in order to use its effects. Alternatively, you could use "Monster Reincarnation", "DUCKER Mobile Cannon", and "Dark Eruption" to retrieve it and add it to your hand for later use.
• You can gain a +1 advantage with this card and "Wonder Wand". By sending "Legion" equipped with "Wonder Wand" to the Graveyard via the effect of "Wonder Wand", you not only draw two cards, but can search/retrieve a Normal Spellcaster through this monster's effect as well.
• A killer strategy with this card would be as follows: Normal Summon this card, then use his effect to Tribute Summon "Dark Magician Girl", then activate "Sage's Stone" to bring out a "Dark Magician" from your hand or Deck, (Or you could use this card's effect to fish a copy of him out of your Graveyard). Tribute both Magicians to Summon "Sorcerer of Dark Magic".
