The Three Musketeers of Face Cards (
The three main members are "Queen's Knight", "King's Knight", and "Jack's Knight". There are two monsters that can be Summoned through a combination of the three: "Arcana Knight Joker" and "Royal Straight Slasher". Two additional combinations were released later that didn't appear in the manga or anime: "Arcana Extra Joker" and "Arcana Triumph Joker".
Members
Original
Each Musketeer has the motif of a face card from a deck of standard playing card, with "King's", "Queen's" and "Jack's Knight", representing one of the three face cards in the deck.
Musketeer | Playing card origin |
---|---|
King's Knight | King |
Queen's Knight | Queen |
Jack's Knight | Jack |
Related
Additionally, there are other Effect Monsters related to the Three Musketeers, each representing cards outside of the standard face cards.
Monster | Playing card origin |
---|---|
Imperial Bower | Best Bower |
Joker's Knight | Joker |
Evolutions
Each of the Three Musketeers has an evolved form. Each evolution involves using all the Three Musketeers as materials for different Summoning mechanics. These monsters share a similar naming pattern where their names start with "Arcana" (a reference to the card medium) and end with "Joker" (a reference to the Joker card).
"Royal Straight Slasher" is another combined form of the Three Musketeers, except it is not based on a specific Musketeer. Instead of the Joker, it is instead based on a royal straight flush, the best possible hand in ace-high games.
Monster | Base Musketeer | Monster type | Playing card origin |
---|---|---|---|
Arcana Extra Joker | King's Knight | Link | Joker |
Arcana Triumph Joker | Queen's Knight | Effect | |
Arcana Knight Joker | Jack's Knight | Fusion | |
Royal Straight Slasher | - | Special Summon | Royal straight flush |
Playing style
The main purpose of this series is to swarm the field using the effect of "King's Knight", which can only be activated if "Queen's Knight" is on the field, and is used to Special Summon "Jack's Knight". They can be used as Tribute fodder, or can be Fused, Tributed or used as Link Materials to Summon the ultimate monsters: "Arcana Knight Joker", "Arcana Triumph Joker" and "Arcana Extra Joker", respectively. Also, since "King" and "Queen's Knight" are Level 4 monsters, they can easily be used as Xyz Materials for most Xyz Monsters.

Trivia
- In the Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga, "King's", "Queen's" and "Jack's Knight" were known as The Three Swordsmen, possessing the maximum speed Summon ability, although they were eventually outmatched by Yako Tenma and his "Summoner Monk".[4]
