"Summoned Skull" has four artworks in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game, three of which also appear in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. It also has a number of other artworks from other media it has appeared in.

Manga artwork[edit]

Magic and Wizards (later known as Duel Monsters) first appeared in the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel 9: "The Cards with Teeth (Part 1)", published November 1996. At the time, it was intended as a one-off imitation of Magic: The Gathering. As such, when "Summoned Skull" first appeared, it bore a number of similarities to the Magic: The Gathering card "Lord of the Pit".

  • In Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel 10: "The Cards with Teeth (Part 2)", the number of ribs in the artwork increased.
  • The Toei anime used a pink colorized version of the Duel 10 artwork.
  • The Bandai Carddass artwork is also based on the Duel 10 artwork and uses a similar color scheme to the Toei anime.
  • Starting with Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel 62 (Duelist Duel 3): "Countdown!!", the design was changed to have less of a resemblance to "Lord of the Pit". This was reflected in both the updated artwork and appearances of the monster in Solid Vision form.
  • Color prints of the manga have used a number of color schemes:
    • In Weekly Shōnen Jump, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel 95 (Duelist Duel 36): "The Terror of the Dungeon" used red flesh and gray bones.
    • In the bunkoban, Duel 9 used pink flesh and bones, similar to the Bandai artwork
    • In the bunkoban, Duel 10 and onwards used purple flesh and white bones, similar to the colors used in OCG/TCG artworks.

Toei merchandise artwork[edit]

"Summoned Skull" has an artwork used by various merchandise based on the Toei anime.

Duel 68 pose[edit]

The Konami collector card, released December 16, 1998, featured a new artwork based on the pose "Summoned Skull" used when Summoned in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel 68 (Duelist Duel 9): "Demon Lightning", released February 9, 1998. This later went on to be the first Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game (OCG) and Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game (TCG) artwork.

Labyrinth Battle Game[edit]

The Labyrinth Battle Game, printed in Yu-Gi-Oh! volume 11: "Dungeon of Doom" which was released January 8, 1999, featured a new artwork.

Duel 96 artwork[edit]

Yu-Gi-Oh! Bandai Sealdass, released January 20, 1999, used an artwork based on the pose "Summoned Skull" was drawn in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel 96 (Duelist Duel 37): "The Deadly Guardian!!", released September 7, 1998.

Limited Edition 3 artwork[edit]

Limited Edition 3, released April 1, 2001, featured a new OCG artwork for "Summoned Skull", which was later added to the TCG. Although this is the second OCG artwork in terms of release date, the Konami database treats it as the third artwork.

Asian Championship artwork[edit]

The Asia Championship 2001 prize cards, released August 12, 2001, had OCG cards with unique artworks, never reprinted in any other sets since. This included an artwork for "Summoned Skull" that appears to be based on a mirrored version of a panel from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel 115 (Duelist Duel 56): "The Beautiful Trap!". Although this is the third OCG artwork in terms of release date, the Konami database treats it as the second artwork.

10th Anniversary artwork[edit]

For the Anniversary Pack, released December 20, 2008, "Summoned Skull" was given a new artwork drawn by Kazuki Takahashi, where its design more closely resembles its manga appearance in Duels 9 and 10 and the color scheme used by Toei and Bandai.
