General rules[edit]

  • Since the game was not released in English, use names from Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories when it is necessary to provide an English name.
  • For any parameters, whose input consists of the name of another card or list of other cards, use the card's page name on the wiki, rather than the name of the card, unless otherwise specified. e.g. "Rock Ogre Grotto 1 (DM1)", rather than "Rock Ogre Grotto#1".
  • If the input requires a list of values, use a bulleted list.

Parameters[edit]

  • main: the card's OCG/TCG counterpart
    • default: the current page name, excluding parenthesized text
  • name: The card's English name
    • default: the current page name, excluding parenthesized text
  • ja_name: The Japanese name of the card
    • default: The Japanese name of the card's "main" counterpart, with any kanji replaced with its furigana.
  • romaji_name: The Japanese name, in rōmaji
    • default: The rōmaji name of the card's main counterpart
  • trans_name: The English translation of the Japanese name
    • default: The translated Japanese name of the card's main counterpart
  • card_type: If the card is a Spell Card/Magic Card, set this to "Magic"
  • number: The index number of the card used in the game. Ranges from 001 to 365.
  • atk: The card's ATK
  • def: The card's DEF
  • type: The card's Type
  • password: The password used to get the card in the password menu
  • password_trans: The password, translated into English. This will be the name of a person.
  • password_note: Say what significance the person, whose name is used as the password, has to the game or Yu-Gi-Oh!.
  • password_source: Where the password was officially published
  • password_date: The date the password was published
  • lore: The card description, translated into English
  • ja_lore: The Japanese card description

  • archseries: Archetypes or series that the card is a part of
  • evolves_to: The card that this card evolves into by being on the field for one turn
  • targets: If the card is an Equip Card, list all monsters it can affect
  • affects: If the card is a Field Card, use this parameter to input a Semantic MediaWiki query to select all cards it affects. The query automatically only targets cards in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters and automatically includes "Petit Moth".
  • If the card can be Fusion Summoned, put lists of Fusion Material in each of these parameters:
    • Any card listed in fusion1_material1 can be fused with any card listed in fusion1_material2.
    • Any card listed in fusion2_material1 can be fused with any card listed in fusion2_material2.
    • Any card listed in fusion3_material1 can be fused with any card listed in fusion3_material2.
    • Any card listed in fusion4_material1 can be fused with any card listed in fusion4_material2.
  • If the card can be acquired by Communication Fusion, put lists of Fusion Material in each of these parameters:
    • Any card listed in communication_fusion1_material1 can be fused with any card listed in communication_fusion1_material2 and any card listed in communication_fusion1_material3.

Information drawn from other pages[edit]

Some information displayed on the card page only appears depending on the content of other pages.

Victory bonus: If the card can be won as a victory bonus, the article for the character it can be won from should be updated to mention the card, using the {{Card probabilities}} template. For example, as per Joey Wheeler (Duel Monsters 1)#Victory bonuses:

{{Card probabilities
| type = victory bonus
| game = Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (video game)
| cards =
Sogen (DM1); 10
Legendary Sword (DM1); 20
Tiger Axe (DM1); 30
Karbonala Warrior (DM1); 40
Axe Raider (DM1); 50
Battle Steer (DM1); 60
Swamp Battleguard (DM1); 70
Garoozis (DM1); 80
Time Wizard (DM1); 90
Red-eyes B. Dragon (DM1); 100
}}

Random drop: If the card can be won as a random drop, the article for the character it can be won from should be updated to mention the card and the chance in 2048 of winning it, using the {{Card probabilities}} template. For example, as per Joey Wheeler (Duel Monsters 1)#Drops:

{{Card probabilities
| type = drops
| game = Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (video game)
| cards =
Shadow Specter (DM1); 2
Swamp Battleguard (DM1); 2
Battle Steer (DM1); 2
Time Wizard (DM1); 10
Skull Servant (DM1); 2
...
}}

Decks: If the card is used by an opponent, the article on the opponent should be updated to mention the card and the probability out of 2048 of it being a specific card in their Deck. For example as per Joey Wheeler (Duel Monsters 1)#Deck:

{{Card probabilities
| type = Deck
| game = Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (video game)
| cards =
Baby Dragon (DM1); 1
Mushroom Man (DM1); 57
Time Wizard (DM1); 70
Skull Servant (DM1); 4
Kuriboh (DM1); 4
Thousand Dragon (DM1); 1
Red-eyes B. Dragon (DM1); 1
...
}}

Evolves from: If the card evolves from another card, mention it on the other card's page, using the "evolves_to" parameter.

Applicable Equip Cards: Monster pages will automatically list all applicable Equip Cards, whose article lists the monster using the "targets" parameter.

Affecting Field Cards: Monster pages will automatically list all Field Cards that affect them, if they fall into the query specified in the "affects" parameter on the Field Card's article.

Fusion Material for: If the card can be used as material for the Fusion Summon or Communication Fusion of another card, it should be added as Fusion Material to the Fusion Monster's page.
