All "Trap Hole" cards are not considered to be part of this archetype, as their Japanese names do not contain 「ホール」; however, "[[Chaos Trap Hole]]", "[[Gemini Trap Hole]]" are "Hole" cards but not "Trap Hole" cards, since their Japanese names contain 「落とし穴」but with the furigana for "Hole" (ホール ''Hōru'') instead of "Pitfall" ({{Ruby|落|お}}とし{{Ruby|穴|あな}} ''Otoshiana'').

"Hole" (ホール Hōru) is an archetype of cards supported by the "Traptrix" archetype.

In the Japanese version, the "Trap Hole" archetype is not a sub-archetype, as its name translates to "Pitfall" (としあな Otoshiana) rather than "Hole" (ホール Hōru). However, all cards in the Japanese version that support the "Hole" archetype also support the "Trap Hole" archetype; for instance, the first effect of "Traptrix Myrmeleo" supports both 「ホール」and 「としあなNormal Trap cards. In the TCG, the "Trap Hole" archetype is treated as a sub-archetype of the "Hole" archetype. Since all of the support for the archetype only works on Normal Trap cards, support for both archetypes is simply listed as "Hole" Normal Trap.

A number of unrelated cards in the Japanese version, such as "Stronghold the Moving Fortress" and "Holding Arms", also fall into this archetype. The Japanese version of "Goblin Pothole Squad" is not a member of the archetype. However, because TCG and OCG support for this archetype only works on Normal Trap Cards, neither are an issue.
