Mai Kujaku and the Player Killer of Darkness faced each other in Duel Monsters, during the Duelist Kingdom tournament, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga.
Events
During the night after the first day of preliminaries at the Duelist Kingdom tournament, the Player Killer of Darkness searched the island for participants to eliminate from the tournament.
Mai had been camping with Yugi Mutou, Katsuya Jonouchi, Anzu Mazaki, Hiroto Honda and Ryo Bakura was there too. Mai was left alone in her tent after getting Anzu to meet Yugi. While she was alone, the Player Killer snuck up on her and forced her into a Duel, where she had to bet all eight of her Star Chips.
The Player Killer made use of the darkness created by his "Castle of Dark Illusions" to hide his monsters and easily overpower Mai.
Yugi and Anzu heard Mai screaming as she lost and ran to the Duel. The Player Killer explained how Mai had been eliminated and that Maximillion J. Pegasus had listed taking out Yugi as a priority. Yugi then switched to Dark Yugi, who Dueled the Player Killer to win back Mai's Star Chips.
