Excutie (エクスキューティー Ekusukyūtī) is a series of Level 6 monsters with 500 DEF and different Types. While its first member was introduced in Deck Mod Pack: Genesis Master Road!!, it was expanded into a fully-fledged theme in Over Rush Pack.

Lore[edit]

Design[edit]

The Excutie monsters appear as girls wearing fantastical outfits donned with sci-fi elements that each reference their respective Types (e.g. an astronaut for the Galaxy Type "Excutie Fermi" and a witch for the Spellcaster Type "Excutie Floa"). Each monster bears a crest in the shape of a red five-pointed star, overlaid by a silver arc with three arrows falling from it.

Playing style[edit]

Excutie is a Level 6 focused theme, supporting Level 6 monsters with 500 DEF while restricting both players from utilizing monsters of higher Levels; many cards in the Deck will prevent the player from attacking with Level 7 or higher monsters. The Deck heavily uses Special Summoning, allowing it to play minimal Level 4 or lower monsters: "Lumiere" and "Prouty" can each Special Summon themselves on an empty field, after which "Leir" and "Lilius" can Special Summon themselves if another Level 6 with 500 DEF is already on the field. The remaining Excuties cannot Special Summon themselves, but can be Summoned from the Graveyard using "Scramble!", and offer a powerful toolbox of effects: "Floa" can return any other Excutie from the Graveyard to the hand, "Lucy" can change battle positions to destroy stronger monsters or inflict damage over Set monsters, and "Ram" offers an easily accessible in-theme way to remove Spells/Traps. The first Excuties released, "Feena" and "Fermi", are niche, but can occasionally be helpful by raising ATK; otherwise, "Leir" and "Lilius" are typically used to handle high ATK monsters. In addition to the mass Special Summoning making the Deck highly aggressive, Excuties have a suite of extremely powerful Trap Cards that make the Deck excellent at control: "Catch!" can neutralize a monster when Summoned, while "Break!" and "Emergency!" are battle traps that simultaneously give recursion and destroy the opponent's cards in response to attacks.

Outside of the theme, several cards that support Level 6 and/or 500 DEF monsters can be used. Powerful Level 6 monsters such as "Jinzo" will be unaffected by the Level 7 and higher lock. "Cintamani of Saturnius" is Level 6 support that offers good draw power, while "Dragonlion Pit Trap" adds to the Trap control toolbox, synergizing with the Deck's ability to Special Summon many high-Level monsters in a turn to easily pay its cost without risking being destroyed by its effect. The Jersey series also supports monsters with 500 DEF, which means they can be added in as utility, or possibly an outright thematic hybrid, although their high-Level monsters can be difficult to use due to the Level 7 and higher lock.

Weaknesses[edit]

  • Since Excutie monsters are all Level 6, cards that oppose Level 6 monsters can be used, such as "Prison Island - Cell Block 5 & 6" preventing the Summon of any Excuties except "Lumiere" and "Prouty".
    • Generic Spell/Trap removal cards such as "Hammer Crush" can help cover this weakness.
  • Since Excuties rely on Special Summoning themselves, an opposing "Barrier Statue of the Inferno" can disable the Deck's gameplan and make some hands unplayable, especially if the Deck build is using few Level 4 or lower monsters.
  • Cards that modify DEF such as "Big Umi" or "Vegetation of Blisstopia" can also prevent "Leir" or "Lilius" from Special Summoning themselves, as well as prevent the activation of the Deck's Trap Cards.
  • Excuties struggle to remove Level 9 or higher monsters in-theme, since they cannot be targeted by "Lumiere" and usually have too high ATK/DEF to destroy with "Lilius".
