"With your powers combined, I am Captain Planet!"

Right then, pardon the month-long hiatus, I've had my hands full for a bit. Mostly hunting cards for EDH and outings with friends.

Under the suggestions from Dark Ace SP and Chromace, this contest will be about named Special Summons. To be specific, contestants are to design a Deck that has the capability to Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, and Xyz Summon, all at once. If you're feeling lucky, you can try to go into Sophia, Goddess of Rebirth.

And just to make things a little tougher, cards commonly used to ease the usual process like Instant Fusion and Advanced Ritual Art are not allowed.

Guidelines

  • All OCG and TCG cards are fine, as long as it has been released proper.
  • Deck must be in Template:Decklist.
  • This contest will utilize the July 14th, 2014 TCG Banlist.
  • You will be given maybe 1 day if you are late to post, after that, you're out.
  • Deck submissions will open on 18th July 2014 and close on 20th July 2014.

Registration

With such a restriction and how specialized archetypes tend to be, there will be no restriction on what kind of Deck to build. You need not disclose what kind of Deck you're building. To enter, just add your username under this paragraph.

Comments? Questions? Complaints?

There may be a few generic cards in use that shortcut the Fusion/Ritual/Synchro/Xyz processes which I have missed out. Let me know. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:21, July 11, 2014 (UTC)

"Ritual Foregone"? --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 04:05, July 11, 2014 (UTC)
Seeing that it's the Ritual version of Instant Fusion... --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 06:18, July 11, 2014 (UTC)
Hex-Sealed monsters? --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 16:22, July 12, 2014 (UTC)
It takes effort to use them proper. I'll let them slide. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 15:42, July 14, 2014 (UTC)
Figured that be the response, so I'm cool with it. --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 18:46, July 14, 2014 (UTC)
Though I'm guessing everybody already knows otherwise, never even knew about the card, or it's disqualified for some other reason, I propose that Trapazohedron of Taboo be also be excluded from the list of cards people can use. (Does it count as OCG proper? I wasn't too sure) Aeron Solo wuz here (If you wanna talk) 13:30, July 18, 2014 (UTC)
It was only shown yesterday and it hasn't been released yet. I doubt anyone had any time to even test it. --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 14:30, July 18, 2014 (UTC)

Ojama. Yes, and if you've dueled me before you know I have a certain affinity for these guys, and you know that I'll jump to use them whenever I can, and this contest was the perfect time to do so.

Anyway, the basic idea here is to set Ojama Blue, get Country and Ojamagic, and then proceed to either make a Level 5 Synchro, a Rank 2 Xyz, Ojama Knight if I have Polymerization, and if I get lucky, make Saphira, use her effect, then use her effect next turn because Country made me discard a LIGHT Ojama. That was the basic idea as I made the deck. Lightray Daedalus and BLS serve as the Tributes for Saphira as well as "boss" monsters.

Junk Synchron has always been a favorite of mine in Ojama or Raccoons for that matter. The ability to make Frozen Fitzgerald or Catastor on a dime is a huge reason why this deck wins games.

To be honest, I feel like the deck is really linear, so I'm not sure what else to add, so hope you like the deck. --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 14:46, July 18, 2014 (UTC)

I've created a deck that has made its focus around summoning tokens and using them for the Synchro, Fusion and Ritual summons. Using a combination of Scapegoat, Phantom Skyblaster, Tanngjostr, Sheep Cloud and a good dose of luck, most of the deck becomes accessible. As long as a few of them are on the field, the Tuners and Hex-Sealed Monsters don't need to stick around for too long to do their job (so protecting them is still important, hence Roar). That's about it. Chromace (talkcontribs) 12:35, July 20, 2014 (UTC)

So, the most effective method of production is standardized set of parts that fit together, and can be interchanged and replaced and with other parts when one fails. Well, trying to make a deck with so many variables that worked required some of the same industry thinking. Looking for synergy between level four monsters is something I'd done before. Then there were what would let them all be on the field, pieces like Soul Charge making Sophia a shorter shot. But she is only the wild card, since there are games where she would have no use. Shaddoll Dragon makes up for my strong aversion to Mystical Space Typhoon, and then there is 1/8 of my deck that can summon it for an instant synchro/xyz. The ritual monster, quantum paladin of galaxy-eyes doubles as an warrior (yu-gi-oh shorthand for very accessible) who can swap out for his xyz killing uncle. Then putting in a sufficient number of warriors that fit my criteria to take advantage of the warrior support. Raiden being a level 4 tuner, goblindbergh having 0 def, and allowing an instant synchro/xyz. Manju makes summoning paladin much easier, also being level 4. The fusion monsters are adding to the back-up plans, a Elder God Noden and Draco-Equiste, Noden supporting the whole "Level 4" thing that is going on here, and Dragon Knight is a beatstick/... Well he has lots of attack. The mixture of contrive-ty of the fusion and ritual monsters and the flow of the synchro and xyz monsters works better than I thought it would. There were a few permutations that I eliminated before I realized that I'd used variations on this before, and adding the warrior engine made Dragon knight reachable, and since the unique secondary effect of the ritual spell was also a selling point for me, since it synergizes so well with the newly semi-limited ROTA, and Warrior returning alive, and Lavalval Chain. The Traps are to cover any shenanigans that my opponent might pull off. In conclusion, this deck partially came some previous decks that had workable engines, and take it and put it firmly outside the box.

I have a thing for Heroes and Scraps, and they fit 3 of the 4 criteria together. Adding the Ritual Monster was a little harder to do than I thought it would be, but with the amount of problematic monsters floating around Relinquished seemed like a good choice to me.

The Scrap monsters add most of the Synchro plays and help with the Xyz plays, since Chimera will summon either Beast or Goblin from the grave giving you the options of Scrap Dragon, Scrap Archfiend, or a Rank 4. While the Heroes give you access to the Fusions and can help with the Xyz plays like the Scraps. What really brings the two archetypes together is Summoner Monk and Goblindbergh. Being able to summon a Level 4 monster from your hand or deck really helps thin the deck and be able to set up your plays early on. With Summoner Monk/Goblindbergh (with Scrap Beast in hand) you can set up and easy Chimera play for the next turn with Lavalval Chain, and if Chain survives for the turn you can set up Chimera again and start looping Chimeras for a bit if you have Scrap Dragon.

Like I said earlier the Heroes add the Fusions. Alius adds muscle to the field, while Bubbleman is a little harder to use, it gives you an easier access to Absolute Zero. And that can be a problem sometimes, being able to wipe all the monsters can be problematic to some decks. With all the Earths too Gaia is really helpful, being able to run over monsters that have a higher attack is nice if you can't get to a Relinquished or ARK.

Relinquished is probably one of, if not my favorite Ritual monster. It's essentially a mini ARK that doesn't have to just target face-up Special Summoned attack position monsters. Your opponent isn't going to want to attack it if they can't get more than 1 monster on the field, and that gives you easy monster "removal". Then you can summon more monsters and push for some damage.

You can suffer from some dead hands, but that happens. The deck can be a lot of fun too, if the pieces come together early on. Hastydemon2 (talkcontribs) 16:35, July 18, 2014 (UTC)
