Forum:Deck Contest 8: How to Win a Match in One Game

From Yugipedia
Jump to: navigation, search

You use a Match Winner, silly. If you don't know what that is, they are powerful monsters that cannot be special summoned, must be tribute summoned with 3 tributes of a specific type, and win the match with a successful, game-ending direct attack.

For this contest, you have to choose one of the Match Winners and make a deck based around it. You should optimize the deck's ability to:

  1. Gather tribute material.
  2. Ensure a match-ending direct attack.

Other rules:

  1. Have your deck in by Saturday, August 15. Try to submit your deck as close to the date as possible.
  2. Registering ends this Wednesday. Submit below. Up to 10 entrants.
  3. Except for your Match-Winner (you can have 3) the deck is in Advanced Format.
  4. No two people can do the same Match-Winner. If someone's already doing Tyr, the Vanquishing Warlord (a Fairy) then no one else can do Tyr.

Q&A

Are we allowed to use Mausoleum of the Emperor in order to Summon our Match Winners with no Tribute?--Akiza'sRose66 23:17, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

  • No. Mausoleum does not tribute summon, so it will not work if they say "Tribute summon by...". Messengerofthedark 23:27, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm just making sure about this, but does that mean you cannot use Kaiser Sea Horse and his friends in order to reduce the Tribute cost? I just looked it up, and it said that would work for monsters such as Moisture Creature.

  • No. Kaiser Sea Horse is 1 monster. You need 3. Messengerofthedark 16:29, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

How many of the Match Winners will be put in a deck???And it will be put in a deck right? Jampong 07:54, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Commandments of the Arcane Lord.

Pullling out a Match Winner is hard, right? Well then, you need a good way to protect it. Would you be able to kill a Match Winner without Spells or Traps? Answer that after you see this deck.

How about now? I think it would be pretty hard to kill a Match Winner if I have Secret Village out, and Decree and Chalice lying in wait. The best tribute fodder in this deck is are Gravekeeper's Spies. Especially if I have Light and Dark monsters in my Graveyard. I can set a Spy, a Waboku, and a Decree, let them attack into the spy, search another one, Special Summon Chaos Sorcerer during my next turn, use his effect to remove a monster, then tribute summon and lay down my Arcane Lord. Rai-Oh shuts down Synchro's, which could possibly put an end to me, since Village and Decree can't stop them. Burden of the Mighty is also a pain in the butt for Synchros, since the bigger the syncho, the harder they are hit. (Stardust Dragon is dropped down to 1700!!!) Also, if somehow a Ryko or another monster that can destroy cards gets through, Defender is here to block it, even though the only Spell Counter fuel in the dekc is himself. (My Body as a Shield helps as well.) So how about it? Eventually, Testament WILL swat through every monster you put out, and he WILL strike you for the final blow. Endgame. --Akiza'sRose66 03:26, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Be Electrified!!!

Jampong choose:Emperor of Lightning

--Here it is!!!Be Electrified.Be Amazed. And Be Shocked!!!Emperor of Lightning is here!!!.

--Actually,I really didn't want to enter this contest.Until I saw the Match Winners.I chose Emperor of Lightning because I'm using a Batteryman Deck, and I remembered that Battermen are Thunder-Type monster. So I chose the bigger version of Zaborg the Thunder Monarch. They are also LIGHT attribute monsters, so I add in an angel.

                              "Let Will Be Done"
                                                 -Honest

Your fate is sealed.

This Deck is basically a Counter Fairies Deck, with a few twists. First of all, it is largely based around Synthetic Seraphim to generate Tokens. Said Tokens are Fairies, which is fine for summoning Eternia. Combine that with Gellenduo, Marshmallon, and The Fool, and there's a good amount of Tribute fodder ready for Eternia's summoning. Wicktoria even helps out by redirecting attacks away from critical or weaker fairies, particularly the Tokens and Artemis.

When it comes to the big finish, the Deck has many ways to take care of any Spells and Traps in the way, in the form of Heavy Storm, Giant Trunade, and its other Counter Traps in its lineup. For monsters, there's always Lightning Vortex, and Asura Priest can be combined with Honest to create a beast that can crush anything and everything in its way. While the Counter Fairies Deck has a problem with draw power before Artemis shows up, there's Gold Sarcophagus to pick out the key parts, especially Eternia when everything is all set for the match win.

Your fate has been decided, how shall you get out of this one? --Gadjiltron 14:35, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Game Set and Match!!!

This Deck is basically a regular fairy deck except its a lot faster and can make occasional OTK's. First of all, it is largely based around Inferno Reckless Summon to swarm the field which is fine when trying to summon Tyr, the Vanquishing Warlord. P,ay it in combination withShining Angel, Nova Summoner, and Arcana Force 0 - The Fool, and there's a ridiculous amount of monsters for the game winner's tribute summoning. For monsters, there's always Lightning Vortex, and Asura Priest can be played with Honest to make a unstoppable fairy to clear field. There's Gold Sarcophagus to find the main parts, especially Tyr when not in your hand. The Deck is full of numerous Spell and Trap Removal. This includes Heavy Storm, Mystical Space Typhoon, and its other Counter Traps.

Die of the dragons fate

the dragon is real this is the best deck i have though of so far so when i saw the topic i wanted to post it and make this deck this deck has the power to bring out up to 2 Victory Dragon and kill the opponent Blackwingggys 00:48, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Land of the Forbidden King

The deck is basically a Dark World deck with some Burn cards thrown in to help reducing my opponents Life Pints easier. I choose the Dark World cards because they are the best Fiends when it comes to Swarming the field. I've also include 3 copies of Giant Germ to help with the Swarm and Burn strategies. I also included Evil Hero Infernal Gainer to help to deal the finishing with King of Destruction - Xexex, because what's better than a 3000 ATK monster especially when it can attack twice if I use Gainers effect on it. The Spells and Traps are mostly to either get out my Dark World monsters faster, or to deal damage to my opponent. --Trivi-AM 11:34, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

The End is Nigh!

If any of you know me by now, then you would know I love the Fiend family and the ghosts and ghouls and supernatural beasts that reside in it. This is why I have taken this family, along with another strategy to create the Ultimate OTM deck! This deck was inspired by the Demise OTK which allows the user to punish and the end the duel quickly and efficiently so that there aren't many tied up ends. This got me thinking, if you can end a duel in one turn, what about a match. So I did my research and thought, why not take a few of my favorite fiends and create this monstrosity that you see before yourself. The strategy is to get Demise out and start sweeping the field up. Once you've had your fill of destroying your opponents field perhaps you would like to activate Double Summon and bring out the Puppet Master to bring back the Archfiend Soldiers or Opticlops's you used for Advanced Ritual Art. After you have the three necessary fiends it's time to sacrifice them all for Aggiba, the Malevolent Sh'nn S'yo. Once you sacrifice all of your monsters you will also have enough in the grave for Dark Necrofear and hopefully an equip card on hand to boost Aggiba or Necrofear's attack power. After that the match should be yours. The downside to this deck is that like all OTK decks you need to have just the right cards, that's why it's good to have Solemn Judgment or My Body as a Shield so that once you have your ultimate destroyer on the field, that it doesn't run into any mishaps if your opponent survives for another round. Overall I hope that you enjoy this deck and vote for it when the time comes.--Overlordzorc 22:44, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Game, Set, Matchless

I was a little late on entering the competition so I got almost last pick. I think I got a good challenge out of using the beast warrior Match winner. Beast Warriors have very little support in terms of bringing out the big guys so I decided to mix in some Gladiator beasts with my tributes. Only 3 of the glads are beast warriors but that's all I needed. The main Idea is to keep all of those nasty spells and traps off of the field while keeping my opponents monsters face up and in my sights, and my tributes on the field. Eventually clear the field for game and match. I chose Minoan centaur for his obvious doubling effect and the warwolves for their power and trap stopping. I think the deck came together very well. Good luck to everyone! --GritS 02:16, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

X-Saber Skuna

GritS, GritS, GritS... you needed to swarm with Beast-Warriors and you didn't think of the X-Sabers?

The point of this deck is to swarm the field with X-Sabers and limit my opponent's options using their neat effects. So, it's basically a swarm/control deck, ensuring that when Skuna comes out, it wins the match because your opponent has no resources left to stop it. Of course, this deck can win without Skuna as well.

Here's the breakdown. Skuna the Leonine Rakan is the first card, obviously. Then come 3 X-Saber Faultrolls, which are incredible for swarming even if they aren't Beast-Warriors. Gardestrike, the ANPR promo, is in for its Cyber Dragon-like effect, level, and ATK. Urz is another Beast-Warrior, but with a pesky control effect. Ragigura, whose name was somehow made more difficult to pronounce in English (I wouldn't have thought they could have managed it), can swarm and recycle X-Sabers. Airbellum is the last X-Saber, with a discard effect and status as a tuner monster that make it impossible to ignore. Then, Ryko mills the deck (important; see Foolish Burial) and destroys stuff. Barbaros means that even if the X-Sabers can't use some of their effects, I can fight back easily: it's also a Beast-Warrior with good ATK when normal summoned. Finally, Enraged Battle Ox allows me to deal battle damage more easily, putting more pressure on my opponent.

For spells, Foolish Burial tops the list because this deck needs to send X-Sabers to the grave to set up for Gardestrike, Ragigura, Faultroll, and Gottoms' Emergency Call. Book of Moon allows for the destruction of monsters that wouldn't be destroyable otherwise, and Shrink does the same. Monster Reborn is a must-have. Saber Slash has the potential to devastate my opponent's field after a successful Saber swarm, possibly setting up for Skuna, and Sparkling Sword can recycle itself and control my opponent's field. Release works with the X-Sabers and Skuna (also Barbaros and Ox, and technically Ryko) to take down anything and do hefty LP damage. Trade-In works with Skuna and Barbaros, so it goes in. Finally, Heavy Storm and Lightning Vortex clear the field for a match kill.

The traps are pretty simple; there's 3 Gottoms' Emergency Call to swarm the field with X-Sabers (allowing me to summon Faultroll/abuse Saber Slash/Synchro Summon/tribute summon Skuna). Then comes 3 Solemn Judgments. In a deck reliant on a single direct attack with a monster that's a hassle to summon, I'd better be damned sure that monster is well protected.

Finally, the extra deck. It should be self-explanatory, although since this is primarily an EARTH deck (with the exceptions of Skuna and Ryko) I've got the obvious Gottoms, in addition to the not-so-obvious Naturia monsters Beast and Balkion. Tell me what you think of this concept deck. Runer5h 04:03, 14 August 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
