This is a comparison of our rarity names and abbreviations with those found in the official database.
Some notes on the database rarities:
- Commons do not have any rarity identification, they are simply listed.
- Normal Rares, Short Prints, Duel Terminal Normal Parallel Rares, and Duel Terminal Normal Rare Parallel Rares are listed, but are not identified as such; they're treated the same as Commons.
- Super Short Prints are listed but are not identified; they're treated the same as Commons. In addition, Kevin Tewart has stated that the SSP rarity doesn't exist; this makes a lot of sense when you consider that SP is just the TCG equivalent of NR.
- Holofoil Rares are not listed at all. This makes sense since these cards predate the OCG.
- Ghost Rares and Holographic Rares are treated as the exact same rarity. This makes a lot of sense and is something that's been brought up on the wiki several times before.
- Prismatic Secret Rares, Ultra Secret Rares (except for the GSE "Wildheart", which isn't listed at all), and Secret Ultra Rares are listed, but are identified as Secret Rares.
- The Mattel Action Figure promotional cards, Yu-Gi-Oh! Double Pack promotional cards, and HL07-EN003–HL07-EN006 (from Hobby League participation cards: Series 7) aren't listed.
- The database identifies a Rare Parallel rarity, but we skip from Normal Parallel Rare to Super Parallel Rare.
- Ghost/Gold Rares are listed, but are identified as Holographic Rares.
- Duel Terminal Rare Parallel Rares are listed, but are identified as Rares.
- Duel Terminal Super Parallel Rares are listed, but are identified as Super Rares.
- Duel Terminal Ultra Parallel Rares are listed, but are identified as Ultra Rares.
- Duel Terminal Secret Parallel Rares are listed, but are identified as Secret Rares.
- Starfoil Rares are listed, but are identified as Holographic Rares.
Also note that "NI" stands for "Not identified" and means that a given rarity is listed but is treated as a Common, and "NL" stands for "Not listed" and means that prints of a given rarity simply aren't listed in the database.
