Joey Wheeler (城之内克也, Jōnouchi Katsuya) is a character in Yu-Gi-Oh! Online: Duel Evolution and Yu-Gi-Oh! Online: Duel Accelerator. This is a video game depiction of Joey Wheeler, a character from the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime.

In Yu-Gi-Oh! Online: Duel Evolution, he was added in-game on January 24, 2008 (PST), and could be found in the "Domino Pier" area in any "Domino City"-themed lobby: specifically at the base of the red crane, in the upper-right area.

In Yu-Gi-Oh! Online: Duel Accelerator, Joey was available to Duel from the game's launch.

Description[edit]

Yugi's close friend and classmate.

A young man with true fire in his heart. Hates all things crooked and is a bit of a brawler, but his strengths are also his weaknesses in that he gets tricked too easily.
He wasn't exactly a skilled duelist to start with losing many duels to Téa Gardner, but grows in strength in his quest to become a true duelist.
His deck comprises mainly of warrior type monsters, but he also likes to mix them up with gambler's decks incorporating cards such as "Quiz". [sic]

Rewards[edit]

The player could also earn "THIRD RATE DUELIST" title from losing to Joey 20 times.

Duel Accelerator[edit]

In Yu-Gi-Oh! Online: Duel Accelerator, the player could earn the following rewards from defeating Joey a certain amount of times:

  • 14 times: 1 untradable copy of "Red-Eyes B. Dragon"
  • 20 times: the "Wrath of the Black Dragon" Deck recipe (cards not included)
  • 45 times: 1 untradable copy of "Jinzo"
  • 55 times: the "For the Love of Lady Luck" Deck recipe (cards not included)
  • 90 times: 1 untradable copy of "Graceful Dice"
  • 105 times: the "Band of Warriors" Deck recipe (cards not included), in addition to the Joey's Garms (male) accessory and "THE BLAZING DUELIST" title
  • 200 times: the "JOEY FAN" title

The player could also earn "THIRD RATE DUELIST" title from losing to Joey 50 times.

Decks[edit]

A deck built around the "Red-Eyes Black Dragon". The primary objective of this deck is to either draw the "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" or to bring it back from the graveyard. Cards such as "Heart of the Underdog", "Card Trader", "Call of the Haunted" and "Premature Burial" have been included for this purpose. The "Metalmorph" card is also included in the deck so that the "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" can be powered up to become "Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon".

Equip "Light Laser" onto "Rocket Warrior" to remove the opponent's most potent monsters! Any attacks can be repelled using the effect of "Fairy Box" too. A real gambler's deck where the focus is on removing any monsters that the opponent may summon.

The first objective when using this deck is to summon "Gilford the Lightning". The best way to do it would be to summon 3 monsters using the effects of "Spell Striker" and "Inferno Reckless Summon" then offering them as a tribute. If there are warrior monsters in the graveyard, make use of "Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade" to remove them from play so that they can all be special summoned with "Dimension Fusion". [sic]

Notes[edit]

  1. Instead of only victories, it was also possible for these rewards to be earned through DRAWs and/or losses, in combination with (or instead of) victories, though the exact numbers required for this are unknown.
  2. By "completing" a Duel, a victory is not necessarily required.
