"Vassal" (帝家臣（ていかしん）, Teikashin) is a series of 800 ATK/1000 DEF monsters related to the "Monarchs", each of which possesses an Attribute reflective of the element they control. All "Vassal" Monsters have an effect that allows them to be Special Summoned from the hand, but, with the exception of "Escher the Frost", at the additional cost of disabling the Player who summoned them to Special Summon from the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn.

With the exception of "Escher", all "Vassal" Monsters also have an effect that activates from the Graveyard after being tributed for a Tribute Summon.

Lucius the Shadow	DARK	Fiend	1	Caius the Shadow	Banish 1 Level 5 or higher monster from your Graveyard.	You can look at all Set cards your opponent controls, and your opponent cannot respond with cards or effects to this effect.
Mithra the Thunder	LIGHT	Thunder	2	Zaborg the Thunder	Special Summon 1 "Vassal Token" to your opponent's side of the field in Defense Position.	You can Tribute Summon 1 monster during your Main Phase this turn, in addition to your Normal Summon/Set.

Pseudo-Vassals

While not true members of the series due to their names, the monsters "Idea the Heaven Knight" and "Eidos the Netherworld Knight" fit into the Vassals theme.

Playstyle

They are used to support the "Monarch" series through easy Special Summoning effects and effects upon being tributed for Tribute Summons.
