Nyakayoshi seen from space.

Nyakayoshi (ニャカヨシ Nyakayoshi) is a location in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime. It is Nyandestar's home planet.

Overview[edit]

A gathering of Nyakayoshi's citizens.

Nyakayoshi is a historically isolated world, due to three of their games causing incredible strife among the citizens. Following the installation of an Outer Space Information Blocker beneath the planet's surface, games and strife were eliminated, leaving the population largely agreeable with one another and without knowledge of the notion of winners and losers.

Nyakayoshi's citizens live by the notion of "being ameowable", using this phrase to respond to all 222,222 sections of the Declaration of Nyakayoshi. They often gather in circles together, clasping hands. The Nyakayoshian buildings seen in the series are made from rounded shapes with pastel colors. The planet's larger vegetation is largely blue and purple, likely giving it the color seen from space, though its shorter vegetation appears to be olive grass.

Citizens[edit]

Nyakayoshians resemble humans, but have yellow sclera and bound sections of their hair that resemble cat ears.

Etymology[edit]

Nyakayoshi is a pun on "nya", an onomatopeia for a cat meowing, and "nakayoshi", which means a good or close friend.

Events[edit]

Nyakayoshi consumed with conflict.

Long before the series, three games, Average Space Shogi, New Space Buried Treasure, and Space Crisis Wheat Game, caused significant strife among Nyakayoshi's citizens. As a result, the games were sealed beneath Nyakayoshi, in addition to an Outer Space Information Blocker that would prevent new games from being exposed to the planet's population. Solving the games and then playing a game where the winner and loser remained friends would allow access to the Outer Space Information Blocker.[1]

Nyakayoshi frozen by The☆Lugh.

With the removal of games and outside information, Nyakayoshi's citizens lost all knowledge of the idea of winning and losing, becoming a peaceful society.[1] This peace was shattered when The☆Lugh visited the planet, bringing new games to the citizens. As the citizens struggled with the newfound sense of competition and loss, The☆Lugh attempted to cheer them up by showing them his Mr. Universe manuscript, only for the exposure to its Negative Energy to freeze them solid.[2] This was also witnessed by Zuwijo zir Velgear and his crew, including the stowaway Kuaidul Velgear, who transformed the last Nyakayoshian, Nyandestar, into a card before Zuwijo's crew departed.[3]

Nyandestar reunites with her family after freeing them.

Following The☆Lugh's defeat and him becoming aware of the harm his abilities had caused, Nyandestar returned to Nyakayoshi aboard Val-Valvelgear with her friends from Earth, having prepared enough curry bread to counter the effects of the negatively charged ice. They soon released Nyakayoshi's population, and Nyandestar happily reunited with her parents. However the arrival of Dinois Velgear scared the Nyakayoshians indoors, where they watched the Rush Duel between Dinois and Mitsuko Hiramori. After Mitsuko won, the Nyakayoshians mistook the animosity between the two for a peaceful resolution and applauded the Rush Duel.[4]

Over two years later, Nyandestar returned to Nyakayoshi aboard Valvelgear with Yudias Velgear, Yuhi Ohdo, Manabu Sogetsu, the two Damamu, Ehoko "Epoch" Kamijo, and the Valvelgear CPT. They searched the planet for relics, asking the elders what the oldest thing on Nyakayoshi was in the hopes they could find a clue to reviving the Velgearians, but as soon as the elders began to recite the Declaration of Nyakayoshi, Nyandestar led the others sans the two Damamu away, noting the elders would continue the entire time. They group were then accosted by the Darkman Bruyea, who wanted Nyandestar to be his "mama", and challenged Nyandestar to a Rush Duel over the matter. After Nyandestar defeated Bruyea and he departed, Damamu duplicated himself again, and Epoch realized that the Nyakayoshian declaration was a clue to where the oldest thing on the planet was located: a hidden passage underground beneath the elders.[5]

The Valvelgear crew found the sealed games in the passage, managing to beat all three of them. When they reached the final room that allowed them to play a game of their choice, the Darkman Zeyet arrived to Rush Duel Yudias. During the Rush Duel, Yudias encouraged the anxious Zeyet, resulting in the two shaking hands after Yudias defeated her, fulfilling the condition to unlock the Outer Space Information Blocker. Though the crew found no knowledge of how to revive the Velgearians, they learned the Dark Matter Empire that the Darkmen belonged to had only been formed a month previously.[1]
