Velgear, Kuaidul

Kuaidul Velgear (クァイドゥール・ベルギャー Kwaidūru Berugyā) is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime and the primary antagonist of the sixth and seventh arcs. He was the first Velgearian created by the Creator and thus the blueprint for the entire artificial race, and seeks to rebel against his creator by manipulating the people of the universe. To this end, Kuaidul explored various methods to transform people into "Kartumata" as the Velgearians had been created, both by manipulating MIK to transform people into cards and by giving "Darkness" cards to Duelists to corrupt them.

Design[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Full-body view of Kuaidul.
Lineart of Kuaidul.

Kuaidul resembles Yudias Velgear. He is a blonde-haired pale skinned alien with green eyes and the appearance of a young man despite his considerable age. His hairstyle is superficially similar to Yudias's, but is longer and more swept back, and the two spikes that stick straight up more closely resemble horns. Kuaidul has red marks under each eye shaped like lightning bolts and light green crescent-shaped highlights in his eyes.

Kuaidul dresses in light-colored clothing. He wears a long cream-colored coat with a grey lining strapped closed over his chest with a high collar and grey cuffs and armored pauldrons, a grey waistcoat, a dark maroon undershirt with golden thread at the throat, white pants, and metal calf-length boots lined with gold. Kuaidul wears a pink-bladed Velgearian energy sword at his hip on a black belt and his Gavil Charger over his coat, between its two collars.

Etymology[edit]

"Kuai" (快) means "quick" or "fast" in Chinese. Taken together with the "dul" part of Kuaidul's name, his name could be said to literally mean "Rush Duel".

Voice/Mannerisms[edit]

Kuaidul uses the personal pronoun "koregashi". This contrasts Yudias Velgear's use of "soregashi"; "kore" refers to something close to the speaker, while "sore" refers to something close to another person, or the listener being addressed. Notably, Kuaidul served as the narrator during the initial episodes and episode 52 of Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!!.

Decks[edit]

Yudias's Deck[edit]

When taking over Yudias Velgear during his Rush Duel with Yuhi Ohdo in the Galaxy Cup, Kuaidul uses his Deck.

Mutsuba Town[edit]

In line with his "Project Cartios", Kuaidul literally uses the people of Mutsuba Town as his Deck, 39 cards representing the 39 people he allowed to become aware of the Kuaidul Spacetime, and the 40th being his own ace monster: "Transamu Praime Armor Nova". Due to its nature, with most people being represented by their ace monsters (and those who are not by Spell/Trap Cards), Kuaidul's Deck contains no low-Level monsters, making it completely reliant on luck, an aspect which is criticized by the characters as a sign that it is incomplete. Notably, this is one of the few times a character's full Deck list is known. After realizing the truth behind the Kuaidul Spacetime, with the exception of "Armor Nova", Yudias Velgear takes this Deck and makes it his own.

Praime[edit]

After his first Duel with Yudias Velgear and realizing his Deck was incomplete, Kuaidul builds a new Praime Deck. Rather than outright using cards from other characters' Decks, Kuaidul now uses LIGHT Attribute counterparts of cards used by the people of Mutsuba Town. Also, in addition to including low-Level monsters, Kuaidul's high-Level monsters differentiate themselves from their original counterparts by being able to be Tribute Summoned with 1 Tribute at the cost of permanently decreasing their original ATK, something he dubs "Praime Tribute Summon".

Owned cards[edit]

For the realization of his Project Cartios during the Galaxy Cup, Kuaidul plants several Darkness monsters in other characters' Decks without their knowledge. Later, some of those monsters are repurposed for Kuaidul's Praime Deck.

Duels[edit]
