Farewell, Judai! A Tearful Graduation Ceremony is the one hundred an seventy-ninth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime. Jaden Yuki ends up traveling back in time and duels Yugi Muto when he was at his strongest - just after winning the Battle City tournament and acquiring the Egyptian God cards.

Summary

Jaden performs the Ultimate Contact Fusion, summoning Elemental Hero Divine Neos, and wins against Nightshroud. The world has returned to normal and Jaden and his friends have safely made it to their graduation ceremonies. That evening, a thank-you party is held, but Jaden is nowhere to be found there. In front of Jaden, who plans to pack up and venture out, Winged Kuriboh has appeared and led him to a specific area.

The specific area is actually the Exhibition Hall where Yugi Muto's deck is displayed. Someone else is there also. Yugi himself! Suddenly something happens and Jaden is transported back to Domino City right after Yugi won the second Battle City Finals. Here he meets Yugi. They decide to duel.

Featured Duel

Jaden's hand contains "Negate Attack", "Neos Force", "Elemental Hero Avian", "Elemental Hero Neos" and "Elemental Hero Burstinatrix". He draws "Polymerization" and uses it to fuse "Elemental Hero Avian" and "Elemental Hero Burstinatrix" into "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman". Jaden Sets a card.

Yugi's hand contains "Mystical Elf", "Magical Dimension", "Obnoxious Celtic Guard", "Mirror Force" and "Shift". He draws "Dark Magician" and Summons "Mystical Elf" in face-up Defense Position. Next he activates "Magical Dimension", Tributing "Mystical Elf" to Special Summon "Dark Magician" in Attack Position and destroys "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman". Yugi attacks Jaden directly with "Dark Magician", but Jaden activates "Negate Attack". Yugi Sets 2 cards.

Jaden Summons "Elemental Hero Bubbleman" in Defense Position and uses its effect to draw 2 cards. ("Bubbleman's" effect is different in the anime) He then Sets 3 cards.

Yugi Summons "Obnoxious Celtic Guard" in Attack Position and activates "Thousand Knives" to destroy "Elemental Hero Bubbleman". Yugi attacks Jaden directly with "Dark Magician" but Jaden activates "A Hero Emerges", Special Summoning "Elemental Hero Neos" in Attack Position. A Replay occurs and Yugi opts not to attack.
