True Draco[edit]

These need to be updated, because, apparently, the "True King" are "True Draco King" in the OCG. The archetype name is actually "True Draco". This means that, in the TCG, there will be both "True Draco" and "True King" and cards like "Master Peace, the True Dracoslayer" also are part of it. Also, YGOrg names.

This is due to the official archetype name for what we had as Spirit Beasts being known. Its "Ritual Beasts". "Spiritual" has "ritual" in it, and we think that's the pun Konami might be going for. Then "Espritual" (NOT Espiritual) for the Fusions (look up esprit).

The "cloth" in "Necloth" is often used to mean "armor" in Japanese. So "Nekroz Armor", since well, they are literally armors.

Ok, per discussions at Forum:Literalism in translations and other issues, consensus is to use card names that the Organization uses as our article names (which naturally, are still unofficial). In other terms, this means "use the card names that Dueling Network uses".

Help moving these would be appreciated. Those of you with mover rights can also move the images at the same time if you like, though that can always be saved for later too. For names where differences are purely aesthetic, I've redirected them to the right articles. For example, I see little point in moving "Bachibachibachi" to "Bachi Bachi Bachi", so the redirect should suffice (though that's simply my opinion and if others disagree, feel free to argue against it). In addition, "Rank-Up Magic - Barian's Force" is an exception. Due to the dub terms for Barian/Varian, we should keep it as-is for consistency's sake.

Is it okay, if I question a few?
  • "Protect Dragon" and "Drain Dragon": Why are the first portion of their names being dropped?
  • "Vampire Shadow": Why is the order being reversed?
  • "Number 46: Draggluon the Æthereal Dragon": If these are approximates for what they might be called in the English TCG, shouldn't we avoid using foreign characters, such as "Æ"?

  • Yes, of course.
  • Its just highly unlikely they'll be kept in the TCG and they really are superfluous to begin with. They sound awesome in Japanese. In English, not so much; the names just get long and clunky. They did attempt to integrate those names in a shorter fashion, but were unable to come up with anything that didn't in the words of Ark, "sound like ass".
  • Archetype names are usually put in the same part of each card. Also note that the card can be taken either as "a vampire that is a shadow" or a "a vampire's shadow" (and it appears to be the shadow of "Bram", actually, so its more than likely both).

Okay I am sorry, but ...what are the reasons for all of these changes - actually someone please just explain to me how "Number 104: Masquerade Magician - Shining" becomes "Number 104: Masquerade" and "Chaos Numbers 104: Masquerade Magician - Umbral" becomes Number C104: Umbral Horror Masquerade I could understand Magician being removed in both circumstances as it really doesn't add anything of value or place shining/umbral before magician/masquerade to make the name sound a bit more natural etc. I just don't understand what was wrong with those names and I haven't seen any reasons beyond this article... I don't know yet how many other articels listed here have gone through seemingly equally ...strange... changes. Anime card names with abbreviations in them[edit]

Referring to all the anime card articles with "Zexal Weapon" in their title, as well as articles like "Red-Eyes Black Dragon (anime)".

These articles should all have the same title as their TCG names. All the proof you need can be found by doing a search on http://www.yugioh.com/cards, which undeniably lists the official English anime names of all cards. As a side example, take a look at its page on "Obnoxious Celtic Guardian", which specifically notes the difference between its English anime name and its English TCG name.

Just because a card's name happens to be read out loud in a certain way doesn't mean it's spelled a particular way. Works of fiction can make up new words and pronunciations all the time. Unless there's specific evidence of a difference between an anime name and a TCG name, they should be kept the same (and here, there's in fact specific evidence against a difference).

For example, "VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon (anime)" isn't located at "V to Z-Dragon Catapult Cannon" even though that's exactly how its name is pronounced and is supposed to be pronounced. If I were to activate "Prohibition" and declare that card in a real life game, the correct way I should pronounce the name would be starting with the phrase "V to Z". If I were to do the same to "Number C39: Utopia Ray", the correct way to declare that card name would be starting with the phrase "Chaos Number Thirty-Nine", not "Number C Thirty-Nine". Same goes with everything mentioned in the first sentence of this post. The anime characters are pronouncing the same card name as in the TCG, correctly.

"Red-Eyes" is not the same thing as the rest of these examples. Its actually always called "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" in the dub. Similar, these other cases usually write out the name in the dub, but those can be chalked up to not using the abbreviations. The inverse is true in the "Red-Eyes" case. Thanks for the support. But how is "Red-Eyes" different? What's the difference between your second sentence and the sentence "It's always called "Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray" or "V to Z-Dragon Catapult Cannon" in the dub? "B." is equally an abbreviation for "Black" as "CXyz" is an abbreviation for "Chaos Xyz". The dub alone does not write out a single thing - all we get from the dub are the correct ways to pronounce the names. However, we do get the written names of the anime cards had they been written out in the dub thanks to the Yugioh.com site, which is where we get the correct spellings of some obscure anime-only cards. Barring "Obnoxious Celtic Guardian" and anything similar, the dub (supplemented by the Yugioh.com site) pronounces and writes the names exactly the same way as the TCG, "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" included. The Movie and Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light, and challenged anyone to find evidence that these names were actually used, and not just made up by fans. No such evidence was uncovered. I think this forum is more for pages, where it pretty much goes without saying that the pages need to be renamed, you just need help doing it. These renames are more disputed. You should probably go to the talk page for the 2004 film and add the {{Rename}} tag to the article.
