Astral's been unable to leave since Yuma Dueled Shark, so, despite his reluctance, he's begun living with Yuma. At an inconvenient time, Kari Tsukumo has trouble when her PC she uses as a stay-at-home reporter crashes. When her big scoop is deleted as a result of a system down the city suffered, she orders Yuma to find an alternate scoop she can use for another manuscript. When Yuma goes into town, the traffic lights go nuts, causing downtown to fall into chaos. Yuma looks for the criminal who spread the computer virus that caused all this chaos.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 004|]]" -

Yuma challenges Mr. Kay, who is behind it all. Yuma notes that each time Mr. Kay reduces his LP with "Terror-Byte" Astral's body weakens, causing him to slowly vanish! To make things worse, the Explosive Virus Time Bomb Mr. Kay has set is slowly reaching its countdown.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 005|]]" -

A strange shadow approaches Yuma, which turns out to be Flip, a classmate of Yuma's known for his duplicitous tongue. In the morning, Yuma was reprimanded for a prank he pulled in front of the whole class that he has no memory of causing. As a result, he's been cut off from every one else. Flip gently says "Let's Duel". With "Baby Tiragon" as his new Xyz Monster, Yuma might enjoy this duel, but Flip seems to be planning something.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 006|]]" -

Flip steals Yuma's "Utopia", causing Astral to vanish. Flip reveals that he had wanted the great power of the Numbers. Yuma then tries to Summon "Leviathan Dragon" to fight back, but Flip's Trap Card takes even that away. When Yuma is pushed into a corner with his field, an unexpected monster will become the Trump Card of the Duel.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 007|]]" -

In order to rescue Nelson's soul from Galaxy Queen, Yuma Duels against his alter ego, "The Sparrow".

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 008|]]" -

Yuma's Duel against the Sparrow continues. The Sparrow continues to overpower Yuma with more characters from his TV show. However, Astral, who is aware of the characters' ultimate combination, plans a reversal to win the Duel.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 009|]]" -

A suspicious shadow is trailing Yuma. It seems someone has been after Yuma, and their identity is the unassuming girl Cathy Katherine from Yuma's class. Yuma and Tori fall into Cathy's trap. To rescue Tori, he's going to have to Duel. Astral is cautious of the strange vibes he's getting from Cathy, especially with the strategy of her "Transforming Cat Deck"!

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 010|]]" -

Yuma is reminded that his victories in his current Duels are due to Astral's help. To prove his skills, he fights Shark once more. Though Shark doesn't care to Duel again, he finally agrees when he finally reaches the end of his rope due to Yuma's constant following him around. The Duel of these two begins. Can Yuma win against Shark, who has no "Number" cards, when he himself declares he won't use his "Number" cards or require the aid of Astral!?

In order to stop Scorch and Chills, Yuma and Reginald face them in a Tag-Team Duel.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 012|]]" -

Scorch's and Chills's "Number" monsters overpower Yuma and Shark. Shark, who notices Yuma's determination to not give up on him, entrusts Yuma with 1 card that turns the whole Duel around!

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 013|]]" -

Yuma is confronted by Kite Tenjo, a boy who calls himself the "Numbers Hunter" Elsewhere, the plans of Mr. Heartland and Dr. Faker come to light.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 014|]]" -

Kite overpowers Yuma with his "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon", as Yuma desperately tries to turn the Duel around.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 015|]]" -

Having clearly seen Kite's power, and how utterly hopeless they are, Yuma and Astral are keenly aware that they cannot easily recover. At that time, Yuma talks to his grandmother. She mentions a mysterious old man named Roku at a Duel Sanctuary who owns a wooden statue of the Legendary Monster "Dark Magician", who is waiting for Yuma and his crew. Yuma makes a strong wish based on his desire to train and get better!

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 016|]]" -

It's a Duel against Roku's former disciple, Kaze! Kaze draws his "Ninja" monsters, pinning Yuma down, but believing in the power of his friends, Yuma continues this battle even after Kaze Summons his Trump Card, "Number 12: Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja". However thanks to Roku and Astral, Yuma wins the Duel.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 017|]]" -

Tori and her friends, who are interested in the "Number" cards, plus Astral, form the "Super Secret Number Card Investigation Club". To get more info about the "Numbers", they visit the home of a fortuneteller, but the fortuneteller is under the orders of Kite to collect the Number Cards! When the fortuneteller, Fortuno, kidnaps Tori and the rest, Yuma and Astral come to the rescue, but the memory of their Duel with Kite comes back, the visions of which continue to haunt them!

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 018|]]" -

The duel between Yuma and Fortuno continues. Fortuno pushes Yuma into a corner as he summons "Number 11: Big Eye". Despite Astral's acceptance of defeat, Yuma's unwillingness of surrendering leads the two to unlock a new power!

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 019|]]" -

While searching for Emperor's Key, Astral learns more about Yuma's father, and his Never-Give-Up Spirit "Kattobingu" that was born from a promise between the two of them.

Having gained control over Astral, "Number 96" manipulates and forces Yuma into a Duel against Bronk.

As they head home from class, Yuma and his friends meet Lillybot whom they form a friendship with. However after the robot is reprogrammed to its former self, Yuma Duels Lillybot in order to help her regain her memories.

In order to protect Yuma's Emperor's Key from Kite, Shark faces him in a Duel.

While Yuma seeks the Emperor's Key, Astral Duels against Kite to defend the "Numbers" cards he possesses.

One morning, Yuma heads to school, and while talking to his friends, time stops. He sees three suns shining in the sky. Together with Astral, they both shiver from a fear they do not understand, causing Yuma to run off to find out what possibly could have happened. At that time, Kite, using Dr. Faker's technology, retraces Astral's memories and invites Yuma to the World Duel Carnival.

The World Duel Carnival, where Duelists from around the world will wage heated battles, is swiftly approaching. Yuma, seeking to fulfill his dream of becoming "Duel Champion", excitedly rushes to the tournament. But what will Yuma do when he has no Heart Pieces, which serve as the proof of participation for the WDC? Meanwhile, Mr. Heartland and Kite make their preparations to gather the Numbers that are likely to assemble before them in this tournament.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 027|]]" -

Yuma's first opponent in the World Duel Carnival is the soccer kid, Striker. Striker transforms the surrounding stadium with his Field Spell Card, as the Duel kicks off. With his "Offside Trap", Striker brilliantly seals Yuma's strategies, while his teammate monsters use teamwork to frantically keep beating Yuma up with a combo of offense and defense and with such sheer strength, it seems as if Striker's victory is all but decided...

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 028|]]" -

While looking for an opponent to Duel, Yuma meets a boy named Cody, who loves construction equipment, at a construction site. Yuma, interested in the construction equipment Deck Cody uses, challenges him to a Duel. However, Cody Xyz Summons his "Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry".

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 029|]]" -

Anna Kaboom attempts to kill Yuma with a cannon. He negotiates with her and they Duel instead so that Anna can try to take her revenge. Their past history is not what it initially seems.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 030|]]" -

Yuma fights against Tombo Tillbitty under the "Basket Rule".

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 031|]]" -

Charlie McCay steals "Number 7: Lucky Straight" from a gallery. Kari, who has past history with Charlie, sends Yuma after him. He and Astral witness the power of the "Lucky Straight" when Charlie performs a One Turn Kill on a World Duel Carnival competitor. Charlie makes his escape, stealing more cards in the process, including one of Yuma's "Numbers".

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 032|]]" -

Charlie McCay escapes on the single-track railroad and Yuma starts the Duel. But Charlie's "Number 7: Lucky Straight" possesses amazing luck. If he hits the jackpot by rolling the dice, then Charlie's Life Points will become 100,000. On the verge of giving up when all of his attempts to stop that strong luck become fruitless, Yuma discovers an unexpected strategy.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 033|]]" -

The second day of WDC starts. More energetic than ever, Bronk and Caswell decide to battle the Asian Duel Champion, Quattro. According to these two, the gentleman Quattro has a respectable Duel aesthetic, which is also admired by many Duelists from their hearts. Witnessed by Yuma, Astral, Tori and Trey, the Battle Royal between Quattro, Bronk, and Caswell starts, but Quattro soon reveals his true side which remained hidden until now.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 034|]]" -

Shark is determined to have his revenge on Quattro, but Quattro's younger brother Trey snares Shark with a Duel Anchor and allows Quattro to leave. Trey's mission from Vetrix and Quinton is to give a "Number" to Shark, which he accomplishes. Shark is able to resist completely being controlled by the "Number" and defeats Trey.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 035|]]" -

After Yuma laments over Shark dueling in revenge against Quattro, he's irritated by everything that's going on and ends up getting into a squabble with Tori. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the tournament, a photographer named Cameron has won Duel after Duel against Duelists with the help of terrifying ability of his that leaves them in terror. Cameron's superpower is apparently a gift to be able to take photographs of the future. With Cameron's "Future Photographs", his opponent's entire strategy is laid bare before him, allowing him to relentlessly defeat Duelists.

Yuma is told by his older sister Kari to get the scoop on what's up with this Cameron guy, when he sees one of the photographs. The photograph that Cameron takes shows Tori being dragged into a major disaster. In order to prevent this dangerous future from coming to pass, Yuma challenges Cameron, whose mind is under the sway of a "Number"!

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 036|]]" -

Yuma is having trouble in his Duel against Cameron, and the dangerous future of Tori encountering an accident is continuously approaching. Then, "Number 25: Force Focus", controlled by Cameron, finally shows up. Yuma cannot win without Summoning "Utopia", but according to the prophecy, Yuma will lose in this Duel for sure if he Summons it. Under this desperate circumstance, in order to grasp the future within his own hands, Yuma delivers a bold strategy!

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 037|]]" -

In order to prevent Flip from being disqualified from the WDC, Yuma Duels against Dextra and Nistro. Meanwhile, Astral faces against an old enemy inside Emperor's Key.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 038|]]" -

The Duel between Yuma against Dextra and Nistro continues. Due to their combination, Yuma is pushed into a corner, even after Summoning "Utopia" thanks to Astral. However due to the bonds between the two, a reversal occurs!

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 039|]]" -

Yuma's Heart Pieces are stolen by Pip, and Cathy Duels to get them back.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 040|]]" -

To heal his little brother Hart's illness, Kite rigorously continues hunting the "Number" cards. Seeing his older brother exhausted, Hart sneaks away from Heartland and into Heartland City, and by chance meets Yuma, Astral and Tori. Amazingly, Hart can see Astral, who in turn seems to know Hart's name. Moved by Astral's wish, Yuma takes Hart to his home. After Hart escaped from the Heartland Tower, he is chased by Dextra and Nistro in a helicopter which results in them going to a tower in order to meet Kite. Soon after, a helicopter appears, in which Hart, Yuma and Tori think it is Nistro and Dextra, resulting in Hart using his Dark Energy. After Yuma calms Hart down with a piece of caramel, the helicopter lands, but instead of Dextra and Nistro, the person piloting it was in fact Quinton. He uses his crest to take control of Hart in order to take him to Vetrix. He then flies off, leaving Yuma and Tori confused as to who he was and what he wanted with Hart.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 041|]]" -

Hart is kidnapped by the Vetrix Family and so Kite and Yuma join forces. However when they find their hideout, they're forced into a Tag Duel against Quattro and Trey.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 042|]]" -

The Tag Duel of Yuma and Kite against Quattro and Trey begins! Kite duels essentially on his own, even to the extent of hurting all of his opponents, including Yuma. However, Yuma on his part, defends himself and Kite from Trey and Quattro's damaging combination. Furthermore, even with "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" being Summoned, it falls victim to Quattro and Trey's trap.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 043|]]" -

Due to the terror of Trey and Quattro's strategy, Kite and Yuma are pushed into a corner. However at the edge of defeat, Hart's feelings awaken a new power inside Kite. With it, he Summons the monster created by the powerful bonds between them, "Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon".

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 044|]]" -

Yuma finds himself in conflict about the "Number" cards, knowing that both Kite and Astral have their reasons for obtaining them. However upon learning that his father is still alive, Yuma tries to leave in search for him. Roku appears to help Yuma with his situation.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 045|]]" -

The third day of the preliminaries begins with Yuma looking for one more Heart Piece. Meanwhile, Nistro who wants to defeat Yuma and Astral, enters the tournament along with Dextra. Consequently while collecting Heart Pieces, Nistro challenges Nelson Andrews.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 046|]]" -

After watching the quick Duel between Yuma against Shark, Trey visits Yuma's house in order to learn more about him. He finds a picture of Yuma's parents, and starts thinking about how his family used to be. He becomes very upset and cries, then runs out of Yuma's house. Yuma goes after him, but then Trey gives him a map, and leaves.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 047|]]" -

Using new powers given to him by Vetrix, Trey is able to break Yuma and Astral's combination. After capturing Astral, Trey makes Yuma forget about "kattobingu" leading him into further trouble as this makes the latter unable to see Astral or Emperor's Key.

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 048|]]" -

Due to Trey's power, Yuma forgets all about "Kattobing" and ends up forced into a corner. However Kazuma, helps Yuma continue the fierce Duel against Trey by using the power of the "Numbers" and Emperor's Key to break Trey's spell. Lastly Astral's last hope helps Yuma make a comeback by using "Utopia".

- "[[Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 049|]]" -

The Duel between Yuma and Trey comes to an end as in order to stop "Atlandis", Trey cooperates with Yuma in order to bring Astral back. Once that occurs, the power of ZEXAL is used once more in order to Summon "ZW - Phoenix Bow" and defeat "Atlandis".
