Major Events

  • Joey and Johnson's Deck Masters are "Flame Swordsman" and "Judge Man", respectively.
  • Johnson cheats during the Duel by manipulating Joey's dice rolls and coin flips.
  • Noah, after a while, tries to stop the Duel, but Joey convinces him to let the Duel continue as long as Johnson stops cheating.
  • Joey's final "gamble" comes from the effect of "Arduous Decision". Joey knows that one card would result in his victory and the other in his defeat. When Johnson tries to decide, Joey's reactions cause him to second-guess himself and pick the wrong card. Joey wins.

Deck Masters

Featured Duel: Joey Wheeler vs. Johnson, Part 2

Duel continues from previous episode.

Turn 8: Joey
Joey draws "Skull Dice". Joey's hand contains "Panther Warrior", "Swordsman of Landstar", "Gamble", "Scapegoat", and "Skull Dice". Joey Normal Summons "Panther Warrior" (2000/1600) in Attack Position. He then Sets 1 card.

Turn 9: Johnson
Johnson draws "Reinforcement of the Army". Johnson's hand contains "Quick Attack", "De-Fusion", "Painful Choice", and "Reinforcement of the Army". He then activates his set Continuous Magic Card "Leading Question". Now when a Level 4 or lower Fusion Monster attacks, that monster will gain 800 ATK during the Damage Step only. "Kamionwizard" attacks "Panther Warrior". The effect of "Leading Question" activates during the Damage Step ("Kamionwizard": 1300 → 2100/1100). Joey then activates "Skull Dice" to roll a die and divide the ATK of "Kamionwizard" by the die result. Joey rolls a six, but Johnson cheats and changes it to a 1, so the ATK of "Kamionwizard" does not change. "Kamionwizard" destroys "Panther Warrior" (Joey 1200 → 1100). After the Damage Step, the effect of "Leading Question" wears off for "Kamionwizard" ("Kamionwizard": 2100 → 1300/1100). "Sinister Justice's" effect then activates (Johnson 1000 → 1800).

Turn 10: Joey
Joey draws "Graceful Dice". He then Normal Summons "Swordsman of Landstar" (500/1200) in Attack Position. He then activates "Graceful Dice" to roll a die and multiply "Swordsman of Landstar's" ATK by the roll. Joey rolls a 6, but once again, Johnson cheats and changes the roll to a one, so "Swordsman of Landstar's" ATK remains the same. Johnson then activates "Judge Man's" Deck Master ability, paying 1000 Life Points (Johnson 1800 → 800) to destroy every monster Joey controls and inflict 500 damage to Joey for each destroyed monster. Only one was destroyed this way, so Joey takes 500 damage (Joey 1100 → 600). Joey Sets 2 cards.

Turn 11: Johnson
Johnson draws "Pot of Greed" and subsequently activates it, drawing 2 cards. Since Johnson has at least 6 cards in his hand while Joey has 2 or less cards in his hand, Joey activates "Gamble", allowing him to toss a coin and call heads or tails. If Joey calls it right, he can draw until he has 5 cards in his hand, but if he calls it wrong, Joey has to skip his next turn. Joey guesses heads. He is correct, but Johnson changes the result to tails, resulting in Joey skipping his next turn. Joey activates "Scapegoat" to Special Summon 4 Sheep Tokens (0/0 for each) in Defense Position. Johnson activates "Reinforcement of the Army" to add 1 Level 4 or lower Warrior-Type monster from his Deck to his hand. Johnson chooses to add "Armaill" to his hand. He then activates "Polymerization", fusing "Armaill" and "One-Eyed Shield Dragon" to Fusion Summon "Dragoness the Wicked Knight" (1200/900) in Attack Position. "Kamionwizard" attacks a "Sheep Token". The effect of "Leading Question" activates during the Damage Step ("Kamionwizard": 1300 → 2100/1100), "Kamionwizard" destroys the "Sheep Token". After the Damage Step, the effect of "Leading Question" wears off for "Kamionwizard" ("Kamionwizard": 2100 → 1300/1100). "Dragoness the Wicked Knight" attacks another "Sheep Token". The effect of "Leading Question" activates during the Damage Step ("Dragoness the Wicked Knight": 1200 → 2000/900). "Dragoness the Wicked Knight" destroys the "Sheep Token". After the Damage Step, the effect of "Leading Question" wears off for "Dragoness the Wicked Knight" ("Dragoness the Wicked Knight": 2000 → 1200/900). Due to "Gamble's" effect, Joey's turn is skipped.

Turn 12: Johnson
Johnson draws. "Kamionwizard" attacks another "Sheep Token". "Dragoness the Wicked Knight" attacks the last "Sheep Token". At this point, Noah arrives to stop the Duel because Johnson has been cheating, but Joey convinces Noah to let the Duel continue as long as Johnson promises to stop cheating.

Turn 13: Joey
Joey draws "Pot of Greed" and subsequently activates it to draw 2 cards("Burning Soul Sword" and "Arduous Decision"). He then Special Summons his Deck Master, "Flame Swordsman" (1000/1600) in Attack Position. Next he activates "Burning Soul Sword", equipping it to "Flame Swordsman". Now once a turn, Joey can Tribute one other monster to increase the equipped monster's ATK by the original ATK of the Tributed monster until the End Phase. Next he activates "Arduous Decision", drawing 2 cards and asking Johnson to pick one face-down. If Johnson selects a monster, it is Special Summoned to the field, but if he selects a Magic or Trap, both drawn cards are sent to the Graveyard. The cards Joey drew are "Shield & Sword" and "Goblin Attack Force". Johnson is about to select "Shield & Sword", but he changes his mind and selects "Goblin Attack Force", letting Joey Special Summon "Goblin Attack Force" to the field (2300/0) in Attack Position. Joey then activates "Burning Soul Sword's" effect, Tributing "Goblin Attack Force" to increase "Flame Swordsman's" ATK by the ATK of the Tributed monster ("Flame Swordsman": 1000 → 3300/1600). "Flame Swordsman" attacks and destroys "Dragoness the Wicked Knight" (Johnson 800 → 0).

Differences In Adaptations

  • Cut from the US version is a brief sequence where Jounouchi thinks that because of the monster's low attack, he still can't use his trap card, "Bottomless Trap Hole", which has been sitting useless on the field during the whole Duel. It's replaced in the US version by a pan down "Dragoness'" helmet from later in the episode.
  • In the US, the violence against the "Sheep Tokens" is obscured.

Featured cards

The following cards appeared in this episode. Cards in italics debuted here.

Mistakes
