Blue Angel and Spectre's Duel | |
Blue Angel and Spectre's Duel is the fifteenth Duel of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime, conducted between Blue Angel and Spectre.
Prior events
The Tower of Hanoi was recently activated, giving Playmaker, Gore and Blue Angel limited time to shut it down. On the way to the Tower, Blue Angel encounters Spectre, who would not allow Blue Angel to pass unless she defeated him in a Master Duel.
The Duel
Turn 1: Specter
Spectre Normal Summons "Sunseed Genius Loci" (0/600). He uses "Genius Loci" to Link Summon "Sunavalon Dryas" (0/↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. "Dryas" cannot be attacked, but it does not prevent Blue Angel's monsters from attacking directly. "Dryas" also cannot be used as a Link Material for a Link Summon during the turn in which it was Link Summoned. Spectre Sets a card.
Turn 2: Blue Angel
Blue Angel's hand contains two copies of "Trickstar Lycoris", "Trickstar Candina", "Trickstar Light Stage", "Trickstar Light Arena", and "Trickstar Treat". Blue Angel Normal Summons "Trickstar Candina" (1800/400). As it was Normal Summoned, Blue Angel activates its effect to add a "Trickstar" card from her Deck to her hand. She adds "Trickstar Reincarnation". Blue Angel activates the Field Spell Card "Trickstar Light Stage". As "Light Stage" was activated, Blue Angel uses its effect, adding a "Trickstar" monster from her Deck to her hand. She adds "Trickstar Lilybell". As "Lilybell" was added from her Deck to her hand through a method other than drawing, Blue Angel activates its effect to Special Summon it in Attack Position (800/2000). Blue Angel activates the Field Spell Card "Trickstar Light Arena". Blue Angel activates the effect of "Light Arena", preventing Spectre from activating a face-down Spell/Trap Card until the End Phase, when he must activate it, or else it is returned to his hand. Blue Angel activates the effect of both copies of "Trickstar Lycoris" in her hand, Special Summoning them, then returning a "Trickstar" monster on the field back to her hand. She Special Summons both in Attack Position (1600/1200 each), then returns "Candina" to her hand. Blue Angel uses both copies of "Lycoris" to Link Summon "Trickstar Holly Angel" (2000/↙↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. As she Link Summoned a "Trickstar" Link Monster, Blue Angel activates the effect of "Light Arena", Special Summoning a "Trickstar" monster from the GY that was used for that Link Summon. She Special Summons "Lycoris" (1600/1200) in Attack Position to the zone the bottom-left Link Arrow of "Holly Angel" points to. As a "Trickstar" monster was Normal or Special Summoned to a zone it points to, its effect activates, inflicting 200 damage to Spectre (Spectre: 4000 → 3800 LP). As Spectre took damage from a "Trickstar" monster's effect, "Holly Angel" gains ATK equal to the damage he took ("Holly Angel": 2000 → 2200 ATK).
The effect of "Lilybell" lets it attack directly (Spectre: 3800 → 3000 LP). As Spectre took battle or effect damage, he activates the effect of "Dryas", which allows him to Special Summon a "Sunvine" Link Monster from his Extra Deck to a zone his "Sunavalon" Link Monster points to, then Spectre gains LP equal to the damage he took. He Special Summons "Sunvine Gardna" (600/↑) to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Dryas" points to. As "Lilybell" inflicted battle damage to Spectre, Blue Angel activates its effect to add a "Trickstar" monster from her GY to her hand. She adds her second copy of "Lycoris" to her hand. "Holly Angel" attacks "Sunvine Gardna". As Blue Angel's monster attacked "Gardna", Spectre activates its effect to reduce the battle damage he would take by 800 times the Link Rating of a "Sunavalon" Link Monster that points to it, in this case one. "Gardna" is destroyed (Spectre: 3800 → 3000 LP). As "Sunvine Gardna" was destroyed during the Battle Phase, its effect activates, which ends the Battle Phase. Blue Angel activates the effect of "Lycoris" in her hand, Special Summoning it in Attack Position (1600/1200), then returning "Lilybell" to her hand. Blue Angel Sets a card.
During the End Phase, by the effect of "Light Arena", Spectre must activate his face-down card or else it is returned to his hand. He chooses to activate his face-down "Sunvine Burial", which allows him to look at Blue Angel's face-down Spell/Trap Card, and if it is a Trap Card, it is banished, along with any copies of that same Trap Card in Blue Angel's hand or Deck. He chooses Blue Angel's face-down "Reincarnation", banishing it and two more copies of "Reincarnation" from Blue Angel's Deck.
Turn 3: Spectre
As Spectre added a card from his Deck to his hand, the effects of both "Lycoris" activate, each inflicting 200 damage to Spectre (Spectre: 3000 → 2800 → 2600 LP). As Spectre took battle or effect damage, he activates the effect of "Dryas", Special Summoning "Sunvine Healer" (600/↑) from his Extra Deck to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Dryas" points to, then he gains LP equal to the damage he took (Spectre: 2600 → 2800 LP). As "Healer" was Special Summoned, Spectre activates its effect to gain 300 LP times the Link Rating of a "Sunavalon" Link Monster that points to it, in this case one (Spectre: 2800 → 3100 LP). As Spectre took damage from a "Trickstar" monster's effect, "Holly Angel" gains ATK equal to the damage he took ("Holly Angel": 2000 → 2400 ATK). Spectre uses "Dryas" and "Healer" to Link Summon "Sunavalon Dryades" (0/↙↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. Spectre Normal Summons "Genius Loci" (0/600). He uses "Genius Loci" to Link Summon "Sunvine Thrasher" (800/↓) to the zone the bottom-left Link Arrow of "Dryades" points to. As "Thrasher" was Special Summoned, Spectre activates its effect, which lets him increase its ATK by 800 times the Link Rating of a "Sunavalon" Link Monster that points to it, in this case two ("Thrasher": 800 → 2400 ATK).
"Thrasher" attacks "Holly Angel", and both are destroyed. As "Thrasher" destroyed a monster by battle, Spectre activates its effect, Special Summoning the destroyed monster to a zone a "Sunavalon" Link Monster points to. He Special Summons "Holly Angel" to the zone the bottom-right Link Arrow of "Dryades" points to. "Holly Angel" attacks "Lycoris" (Blue Angel: 4000 → 3600 LP).
Turn 4: Blue Angel
Blue Angel's hand contains "Trickstar Treat", "Lilybell" and "Candina". Blue Angel Normal Summons "Candina" (1800/400). As "Candina" was Normal Summoned, Blue Angel activates its effect to add a "Trickstar" card from her Deck to her hand. She adds "Trickstar Temptation". Blue Angel uses "Candina" and "Lycoris" to Link Summon "Trickstar Crimson Heart" (2000/↙→) to the Extra Monster Zone. As Blue Angel Link Summoned a "Trickstar" monster, she activates the effect of "Trickstar Light Arena", letting her Special Summon a "Trickstar" monster that was used for that Link Summon from the GY. She Special Summons "Candina" (1800/400) to the zone the bottom-left Link Arrow of "Crimson Heart" points to. As a "Trickstar" monster was Normal or Special Summoned to a zone "Crimson Heart" points to, Blue Angel gains 200 LP (Blue Angel: 3600 → 3800 LP). Blue Angel activates the effect of "Crimson Heart", discarding a "Trickstar" card to let both players draw a card. She discards an unknown "Trickstar" card[Notes 1]. Blue Angel activates the Quick-Play Spell Card "Trickstar Bouquet", returning a "Trickstar" monster to her hand, then increasing the ATK of a monster on the field by that "Trickstar" monster's ATK until the End Phase. She returns "Candina" and increases the ATK of "Dryades" ("Dryades": 0 → 1800 ATK). As she controls a "Trickstar" monster, Blue Angel activates the Quick-Play Spell Card "Temptation", to return a monster with an ATK that is higher than its original ATK to the hand. As "Blue Angel" activated a card or effect that targeted a Plant monster he controls, Spectre activates the effect of "Sunvine Maiden" in his hand, Special Summoning it in Defense Position (0/0) and negating that effect. Blue Angel Sets a card.
Turn 5: Spectre
Spectre uses "Dryades" and "Maiden" to Link Summon "Sunavalon Dryanome" (0/↙↓↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. Spectre discards a card from his hand to activate the Continuous Spell Card "Sunvine Shrine". Once per turn, Spectre can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Plant Normal Monster from the GY. He activates this effect to Special Summon "Genius Loci" (0/600) from the GY. Spectre uses "Genius Loci" to Link Summon "Thrasher" (800/↓) to the zone the bottom-left Link Arrow of "Dryanome" points to. Spectre activates the effect of "Thrasher", which lets him increase its ATK by 800 times the Link Rating of a "Sunavalon" Link Monster that points to it, in this case three ("Thrasher": 800 → 3200 ATK).
"Thrasher" attacks "Crimson Heart". As a "Trickstar" monster is battling, Blue Angel activates the effect of "Light Arena" to reduce the battle damage to 0, then gain LP equal to the damage that would have been inflicted. "Thrasher" destroys "Crimson Heart" (Blue Angel: 3800 → 5000 LP). As "Thrasher" destroyed a monster by battle, Spectre activates its effect, Special Summoning that monster to a zone a "Sunavalon" Link Monster points to. He Special Summons "Crimson Heart" (2000/↙→) to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Dryanome" points to. "Holly Angel" and "Crimson Heart" attack Blue Angel directly (Blue Angel: 5000 → 3000 → 1000 LP).
Turn 6: Blue Angel
Blue Angel Normal Summons "Trickstar Nightshade" (100/0). Blue Angel uses "Nightshade" to Link Summon "Trickstar Bloom" (100/↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. As "Bloom" was Link Summoned, Blue Angel activates its effect to let Spectre draw a card. As "Nightshade" was sent to the GY as a material for the Link Summon of a "Trickstar" monster, Blue Angel activates its effect to Special Summon it from the GY (100/0). Blue Angel uses "Bloom" and "Nightshade" to Link Summon "Trickstar Black Catbat" (2000/←→) to the Extra Monster Zone. As Blue Angel Link Summoned a "Trickstar" monster, she activates the effect of "Light Arena", Special Summoning "Nightshade". Blue Angel then uses "Nightshade" and "Black Catbat" to Link Summon "Trickstar Delfiendium" (2200/↙↑↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. As Blue Angel Link Summoned, she activates the Trap Card "Trickstar Maribold" returning a "Trickstar" card from the GY to her hand, then Normal Summoning a "Trickstar" monster from her hand. She returns "Lycoris" to her hand, then Normal Summons "Candina" (1800/400). As "Candina" was Normal Summoned, Blue Angel activates its effect to add another copy of "Lycoris" to her hand. Blue Angel Sets a card.
"Delfiendium" attacks "Crimson Heart". Blue Angel activates the effect of "Delfiendium", to return banished cards to her hand, up to the number of Link Monsters on the opponent's field, then increasing the ATK of "Delfiendium" by 1000 for each card returned until the End Phase, however she cannot Set those cards this turn. She returns three copies of "Reincarnation" to her hand ("Delfiendium": 2200 → 5200 ATK). As a monster "Dryanome" points to is attacked, Spectre activates its effect to move that monster to an unoccupied Main Monster Zone and negating that attack. During the End Phase, Spectre activates the effect of "Shrine", sending it to the GY to Set a Trap Card from his GY.
Turn 7: Spectre
Blue Angel activates the effect of both copies of "Lycoris" in her hand, Special Summoning them, then returning a "Trickstar" monster on the field back to her hand. She Special Summons both in Defense Position (1600/1200 each), then returns "Candina" to her hand and "Delfiendium" to her Extra Deck. Blue Angel activates her face-down Continuous Trap Card "Trickstar Treat", placing a Trickstar Counter on it upon activation ("Treat": 0 → 1 Trickstar Counter). Blue Angel can place a Trickstar Counter on "Treat", reveal a "Trickstar" Trap Card in her hand, and Set it. Blue Angel can then activate that Trap Card this turn. She activates the effect of "Treat", to reveal "Reincarnation" and Set it. She then subsequently activates it, banishing all cards in Spectre's hand, then making him draw cards equal to the number of cards banished, in this case four. As Spectre added cards to his hand, both "Lycoris" inflict 200 damage to him for each card (Spectre: 3100 → 2300 → 1500 LP). As Spectre took battle or effect damage, he activates the effect of "Dryanome", which allows him to Special Summon "Healer" (600/↑) from his Extra Deck to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Dryanome" points to, then he gains LP equal to the damage he took (Spectre: 1500 → 2300 LP). As "Healer" was Special Summoned, Spectre activates its effect to gain 300 LP times the Link Rating of a "Sunavalon" Link Monster that points to it, in this case three (Spectre: 2300 → 3200 LP). Blue Angel activates the effect of "Treat" again, revealing "Reincarnation", Setting it, then activating it, with the effects of both "Lycoris" following after (Spectre: 3200 → 2400 → 1600 LP). Blue Angel activates the effect of "Treat" a third time, Setting "Reincarnation" then activating it, but Spectre activates his face-down Trap Card "Sunbloom Doom", which lets him choose a monster he controls, then gaining LP equal to the combined ATK of all monsters on the field with the same Type as that monster. He chooses "Holly Angel" and gains LP equal to the combined ATK of all Fairy monsters on the field, in this case 7200 (Spectre: 1600 → 8800 LP). The effect of "Reincarnation" resolves, with the effects of both "Lycoris" following after (Spectre: 8800 → 8000 → 7200 LP). Spectre activates the effect of "Sunbloom Doom" in his GY, banishing it to destroy all monsters on the field with a Level equal to or lower than the number of other Spell/Trap Cards that were activated and sent to the GY this turn, then inflicting 500 damage to each player for each of their monsters destroyed. Three Trap Cards were activated this turn, so Spectre destroys both Level 3 "Lycoris" (Blue Angel: 1000 → 0 LP).
Aftermath
The Duel was being broadcast live, allowing Blue Angel's brother, Akira Zaizen to monitor the Duel. Upon Blue Angel's defeat, Akira rushes into Link VRAINS, where he is then captured in a prison of vines. Blue Angel is subsequently turned into data for the Tower of Hanoi.
