The Wrath of Rebecca, known as The Girl who came from America i nthe Japanese version, is the 41st episode of the second series of Yu-Gi-Oh!. It introduced a new character, Rebecca Hawkins, an eight-year old prodigy girl from America who demands the Blue-Eyes White Dragon from Solomon Muto. It aired in Japan in February 6, 2001, and, in the United States on October 12, 2002.

Episode Summary

In Pegasus' Castle, Yugi and his friends are reunited with Bakura and Mokuba. Croquet gives Yugi the check for the three million dollar prize, then Yugi gives it to Joey. Outside the castle, the gang meet up with Seto, who is grateful to see Mokuba, but warns Yugi they will Duel sooner or later. He then offers everyone a ride home on his helicopter. A few days later, Solomon is released from the hospital. Yugi and his friends take him home, where they find an American girl waiting for them. She introduces herself as Rebecca, an eight-year old prodigy Duelist who is accusing Solomon of stealing her Blue-Eyes White Dragon. She demands it back, but Seto ripped it up in the first episode.

Rebecca challenges Solomon to a Duel for it, but since he just got out of the hospital, Yugi (not Yami) takes his place. They duel at the new arena in KaibaLand. During the Duel, Solomon notices Rebecca's deck and strategy is very similar to an old friend of his named Arthur Hawkins. Finally, Rebecca reveals herself to be his granddaughter, but continues to accuse him stealing the Blue-Eyes. Yugi accepts the duel and it was strong duel sadly Yugi lost but he actually let Rebecca win the duel. It was actually the most mature thing to do in his mind. Good Job Yugi you did not crush that girl's mind good for you!

Yugi Muto Normal Summons "Celtic Guardian" in Attack Position (1400 ATK / 1200 DEF). "Celtic Guardian" attacks then destroys "Witch of the Black Forest" (Rebecca: 2000 → 1700 Life Points). "Witch of the Black Forest's" effect allows Rebecca Hawkins to add 1 monster with 1500 or lower DEF from her Deck to her hand.

Rebecca's turn
Rebecca Hawkins Normal Summons "Sangan" in Attack Position (1000 ATK / 600 DEF).

Yugi's turn
"Celtic Guardian" attacks then destroys "Sangan" (Rebecca: 1700 → 1300 Life Points). "Sangan's" effect allows Rebecca to add 1 monster with 1500 or lower ATK from her Deck into her hand.

Rebecca's turn
Rebecca activates Magic Card "Tribute to the Doomed". She discards 1 card from her hand to destroy "Celtic Guardian". She then Sets a monster.

Yugi's turn
Yugi Normal Summons "Summoned Skull" in Attack Position (2500 ATK / 1200 DEF). "Summoned Skull" attacks Rebecca's Set monster: "Millennium Shield" (0 ATK / 3000) DEF (Yugi: 2000 → 1500 Life Points).

Rebecca's turn
Rebecca activates Equip Magic Card "Ring of Magnetism" then equips it to "Millennium Shield"; decreasing its DEF by 500 ("Millennium Shield": 3000 → 2500 DEF).

Yugi's turn
Yugi draws then passes.

Rebecca's turn
Rebecca Normal Summons "Cannon Soldier" in Attack Position (1400 ATK / 1300 DEF).

Yugi's turn
"Summoned Skull" tries to attack "Cannon Soldier", but "Ring of Magnetism's" effect redirects the attack to "Millennium Shield". Rebecca explains that "Ring of Magnetism's effect only allows monsters Yugi controls to attack the equipped monster.

Rebecca's turn
Rebecca Normal Summons another "Witch of the Black Forest" in Attack Position then activates "Cannon Soldier's" effect. She Tributes "Witch of the Black Forest" to inflict 500 points of damage to Yugi's Life Points (Yugi: 1500 → 1000 Life Points). Then, she adds 1 monster with 1500 or lower DEF from her Deck to her hand because of "Witch of the Black Forest's" effect.

Duel concludes next episode.

Mistakes

Differences In Adaptations

  • Cut from the US version where Yami Bakura says 'Millennium Eye got!' and licks the eye.
  • The Japanese version shows Rebecca getting weepy, and then making a rude gesture, while the US version is changed to show Rebecca looking upset while she rails at Yugi after he destroys Sangan.
  • All the sweatdrops on Yugi's head are removed in the US version.
