Playmaker and The Gore's first Duel

Playmaker and Go's Duel is the second Duel of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime, conducted between Playmaker and Go Onizuka.

Prior events

After defeating a Knight of Hanoi in a broadcasted Duel, Playmaker started to be renowned as the new hero of Link VRAINS. Because of this, Go Onizuka started to lose his fans to Playmaker. One day, Akira Zaizen approached Go with an offer to defeat Playmaker and retrieve Ai with the help of SOL Technologies, offering a brand new D-Board. Go initially refused, but after seeing the children at his old orphanage cheering for Playmaker instead of greeting him when he brought presents, Go changed his mind, visiting Akira Zaizen to accept his offer. Go then disguised himself as a Knight of Hanoi to draw out Playmaker, revealing himself when Playmaker showed up. As Playmaker attempted to leave, a steel cage closed down upon Link VRAINS, preventing Playmaker from logging out until he defeated Go in a Duel.

The Duel

Turn 1: Go Onizuka
Go's hand contains "Gouki Suprex", "Gouki Twistcobra" and two unspecified cards. He Normal Summons "Suprex" (1800/0). As "Suprex" was Normal Summoned, Go activates its effect to Special Summon a "Gouki" monster from his hand. He Special Summons "Twistcobra" (1600/0) in Attack Position.

Turn 2: Playmaker
Playmaker Sets a card. As he controls no monsters, Playmaker Special Summons "Linkslayer" (2000/600) from his hand in Attack Position by its effect. He Normal Summons "Cyberse Wizard" (1800/800). Playmaker activates the effect of "Cyberse Wizard", allowing him to change a monster Go controls from Attack Position to Defense Position and letting Cyberse monsters inflict piercing battle damage this turn, but Playmaker's monsters can only attack that monster this turn. Playmaker targets "Suprex". "Linkslayer" attacks and destroys "Suprex" (Go: 4000 → 2000 LP). As "Suprex" was sent from the field to the GY, Go activates its effect, letting him add a "Gouki" card from his Deck to his hand. He adds "Gouki Riscorpio". Go activates his Skill, "Fighting Spirit", letting him Special Summon all "Gouki" monsters that were destroyed by battle this turn to his field. He Special Summons "Suprex" (1800/0) in Attack Position.

Turn 3: Go Onizuka
As all monsters he controls are "Gouki" monsters, Go Normal Summons "Riscorpio" (2300/0) without Tribute by its effect. Go uses "Suprex", "Twistcobra", and "Riscorpio" to Link Summon "Gouki The Great Ogre‎‎" (2600/LINK-3/↙↓↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. As "Suprex", "Twistcobra" and "Riscorpio" were sent to the GY, Go activates all their effects, adding "Riscorpio", "Gouki Re-Match" and "Gouki Headbatt" from his Deck to his hand. The effect of "Great Ogre" decreases the ATK of all monsters on the field by a value equal to their original DEF ("Cyberse Wizard": 1800 → 1000 ATK, "Linkslayer": 2000 → 1400 ATK). Go activates the Spell Card "Gouki Re-Match" to Special Summon two "Gouki" monsters with different Levels from his GY in Defense Position. Go Special Summons "Riscorpio" (2300/0) and "Twistcobra" (1600/0). Go activates the effect of "Twistcobra", allowing him to Tribute a "Gouki" monster to increase the ATK of another "Gouki" monster he controls by the Tributed monster's ATK. Go Tributes "Riscorpio" and targets "Great Ogre" ("Great Ogre": 2600 → 4900 ATK). Go activates the effect of the "Headbatt" in his hand, to send a "Gouki" monster from his hand to the GY, Special Summon "Headbatt", and increase the ATK of a "Gouki" monster he controls by 800 until the end of the turn. He sends "Twistcobra", Special Summons "Headbatt" (800/0) and targets "Great Ogre" ("Great Ogre": 4900 → 5700 ATK). As Go activated an effect that would change the ATK of only one monster on the field, Playmaker activates his face-down Trap Card "Cyberse Shatter", negating the activation of the effect and allowing Playmaker to draw a card ("Great Ogre": 5700 → 4900 ATK). "Great Ogre" attacks and destroys "Cyberse Wizard" (Playmaker: 4000 → 100 LP).

Turn 4: Playmaker
Playmaker Normal Summons "Draconnet" (1400 → 200/1200). As "Draconnet" was Normal Summoned, Playmaker activates its effect, letting him Special Summon a Level 2 or lower Normal Monster from his hand or Deck in Defense Position. Playmaker Special Summons "Bitron" (200 → 0/2000) from his Deck. Playmaker uses "Bitron" to Link Summon "Link Spider" (1000/LINK-1/↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. Playmaker activates the effect of "Link Spider", letting him Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Normal Monster from his hand to a zone "Link Spider" points to. Playmaker Special Summons "Bitron" (200 → 0/2000) to the zone the bottom Link Arrow of "Link Spider" points to.

At this point, Playmaker enters the Data Storm. As his LP is 1000 or lower, Playmaker activates his Skill, "Storm Access", to randomly access a card within a Data Storm. Playmaker obtains "Link Bumper" and adds it to his Extra Deck.

Playmaker uses "Bitron" and "Linkslayer" to Link Summon "Link Bumper" (1400/LINK-2/←↑) to the zone the bottom Link Arrow of "Link Spider" points to. As Playmaker controls a Cyberse Monster, he Special Summons "Backup Secretary" (1200 → 400/800) by its own effect. Playmaker uses "Draconnet" and "Backup Secretary" to Link Summon "Honeybot" (1900/LINK-2/←→) to the zone the left Link Arrow of "Link Bumper" points to. Playmaker uses "Link Spider" and the Link-2 "Honeybot" to Link Summon "Decode Talker" (2300/LINK-3/↙↑↘) to the zone the left Link Arrow of "Link Bumper" points to. Playmaker equips "Decode Talker" with the Equip Spell Card "Cyberse Annihilation". When "Decode Talker" attacks one of Go's monsters, "Cyberse Annihilation" will make its ATK become equal to that monster's ATK during damage calculation and if "Decode Talker" destroys a monster by battle, "Cyberse Annihilation" will inflict damage to Go equal to that monster's ATK. Playmaker activates the effect of "Cyberse Shatter" in the GY, banishing it from the GY to Special Summon a Link-2 or lower Cyberse monster from his GY. Playmaker Special Summons "Honeybot" (1900/LINK-2/←→) to the left of "Decode Talker".

"Decode Talker" attacks "Great Ogre" ("Decode Talker": 2300 → 2600 ATK). The effect of "Honeybot" prevents monsters that it points to from being destroyed by battle. As "Great Ogre" would be destroyed by battle, Go can choose to destroy a monster it points to instead. Go destroys "Headbatt" at the zone below "Great Ogre" instead. As "Headbatt" was sent from the field to the GY, Go activates its effect, adding "Re-Match" from his Deck to his hand. As a monster "Link Bumper" points to attacked an opponent's Link Monster, Playmaker activates its effect, allowing that monster to gain an additional attack for each other Link Monster Playmaker currently controls. "Decode Talker" gains two more attacks. "Decode Talker" attacks "Great Ogre" again ("Decode Talker": 2300 → 2600 ATK), with Go destroying "Twistcobra" instead of "Great Ogre" by its effect. As "Twistcobra" was sent from the field to the GY, Go activates its effect, adding "Suprex" from his Deck to his hand. "Decode Talker" attacks "Great Ogre" ("Decode Talker": 2300 → 2600 ATK) and destroys it. As the equipped monster destroyed a monster by battle, the effect of "Cyberse Annihilation" activates, inflicting damage to Go equal to the destroyed monster's ATK (Go: 2000 → 0 LP).

Aftermath

During the Duel, Playmaker obtained "Link Bumper" using Storm Access, allowing him to use it again in future Duels. After he defeated Go, the program preventing Playmaker from logging out was removed, allowing Playmaker to log out.
