Heartland City is a location in the Xyz Dimension in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime. It is an alternate universe version of the Heartland City that appeared in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime.

Biography[edit]

Heartland during Duel Academy's attack.

Heartland was initially a peaceful city, where many enjoyed Dueling. Yuto, Shay and Lulu grew up here.[1]

Three years before the invasion, Yusho Sakaki arrived in Heartland and taught many how to Duel before going to the Fusion Dimension.[2]

Heartland City was invaded by Duel Academy, who proceeded to rampage throughout the city and seal its populace into cards.[3] During his invasion, Yuri carried out a mission to kidnap Lulu.[4] He did this just after having kidnapped Rin in the Synchro Dimension's New Domino City. He was pursued by Yugo of said dimension.[5] Yugo witnessed part of the invasion and subsequent sealing of the civilians into cards.[6] Having noticed that Rin's kidnapper had a face similar to his own, Yugo mistakenly confronted Yuto, who in turn assumed that Yugo was an agent of Duel Academy.[5] The Duel ended in no result when Shay and other survivors arrived to the scene.[7] These Duelists eventually banded together to help form the Resistance.[1]

In the aftermath of the invasion Heartland was left in ruins, with every building shown so far being collapsed with broken windows and doors, and the walls of the city having a large hole caused by several Chaos Ancient Gear Giants. The city's colorful ambient turned into a mostly dull grayish tone and a fog covered the entire city, in a similar fashion to Satellite.

When the Lancers arrived at Heartland it was revealed that there were still some survivors who weren't turned into cards left and that the Resistance was already obliterated by Duel Academy students.[8]

After Yuya defeated Aster Phoenix, the Commander-in-Chief of Duel Academy[9], Aster decided to betray the Professor and got everyone under his command to the same. They all then decided to help fix up Heartland and ally with the Lancers and Resistance.[10]

After Zarc's defeat, all the carded citizens were freed from their cards.[11]
