Biography

When Jaden Yuki and the player were late for the Duel Academy entrance exam, Vellian Crowler gave them both a second chance to enter, if they could defeat him in a Duel. After losing, he developed a dislike for both of them.

Crowler got a change for revenge when Jaden and the player arrived late for class. He assigned them both a task, where they must search for the Duelist in Disguise, who had been attacking Obelisk Blue students. Crowler believed he had a win-win situation, where either they would be pummeled by the culprit or catch the culprit, in which case he would take the credit. Although they unmasked the Duelist in Disguise as Beauregard and Brier, Jaden opted not to tell Crowler, having learned that they had donned the disguise to get revenge on bullies and since gained confidence to Duel by themselves.

The player is told he is in trouble with Crowler, who demands to see him at the lake. However this turns out to be a ruse, as Taiyou Torimaki and Raizou Mototani set the player up to Duel Chazz Princeton.

Crowler hosted a field Duel session and arranged an opponent for each student. He secretly planned for the player to Duel Chazz and gave Chazz rare cards to strengthen his Deck. He pretended to have forgotten to give the player an opponent. When Jaden pointed the player had not been assigned an opponent, Crowler assigned Chazz, making it look like an on-the-spot decision. When the player wins, Crowler is disappointed and Chazz asks for another chance, but he claims not to hear.
