While "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" is often considered superior to "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" (Its base ATK is 3000, and it can negate card effects that target it), "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" is normally easier to summon to the field (You will need to Tribute "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon"—a Fusion Monster—for "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon", while you can Tribute "Red-Eyes B. Dragon", a Normal Monster and one that is fairly easier to summon, for "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon"). By the time you summon it, you may have more dragons in your Graveyard than your opponent, if they are using "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon". Plus, "Return of the Red-Eyes" allows you to Special Summon a Normal Monster from your Graveyard once during either player's turn, so long as you also control a "Red-Eyes" Monster. This allows you to set up different kinds of controlled loops with that card.

"Last Turn"(Traditional Format) goes hand in hand with either Monster, since any remaining Dragons will be sent to the Graveyard, and your opponent's Monster will likely be unable to stand up to the ATK of yours. Even then, there are a handful of Dragons that can be used in conjunction with this Trap. "Exploder Dragon" wipes out the Monster that destroyed it in battle. "Kaiser Glider" will return a Monster your opponent controls to the hand. "Archfiend Black Skull Dragon" prevents your opponent from activating cards or effects during battle, and damages your opponent if it was Fusion Summoned and damage calculation was applied. "Mirror Force Dragon" and "Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon" can destroy the opponent's Monster before damage calculation("Crystal Wing" can only do so if the Monster your opponent chooses is Level 5 or higher, however). Even then, "Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon" can be a lifesaver against Monsters such as "Apoqliphort Towers", "El Shaddoll Construct" and "Obelisk the Tormentor". A Dragon Ritual Summoned using "Djinn Releaser of Rituals" will prevent your opponent from picking a Monster at all, winning you the Duel.

It is recommended that you focus on either "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" or "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon", as there will most likely not be enough room in your Deck to include support for both, however if you manage to include both "BESD" and "REDD" it may be a good idea to include some elements of "Chaos" decks as "Blue-Eyes" are LIGHT and "Red-Eyes" monsters are DARK.

Both decks should include monsters which can summon another copy of itself upon destruction, such as "Masked Dragon" and "Troop Dragon". "Masked Dragon", as well as "Dread Dragon", can search for "The Black Stone of Legend"/"The White Stone of Ancients" along with many other useful cards including Exploder Dragon, Decoy Dragon, Troop Dragon Armed Dragon LV3, or even another Masked Dragon or Dread Dragon. Adding "Black Stone" to the hand with Dread Dragon also sets up the hand for Allure of Darkness. Armed Dragon LV3 is very useful with Masked Dragon because you can activate its effect to Special Summon Armed Dragon LV5 on the first turn you control it. If you have "King Dragun" in your extra deck (which is especially useful with REDD based decks as you can use it to protect your dragons from card effects) you can use Masked Dragon's effect to search out "Divine Dragon Ragnarok" which is one of it's fusion material monsters. Another good Fusion Monster to use is "Starving Venom Fusion Dragon". It is able to copy the abilities of one of your opponent's Level 5 or higher Monsters. Also, if it is destroyed after being Fusion Summoned, it will take your opponent's Special Summoned Monsters with it. "Solidarity," "Dragon's Rage," and "Fairy Meteor Crush" are decent support cards to add to the Deck, as they will help maximize the boosted power of your main monsters.

The remainder of the deck should be made up of cards which can discard or send monsters to the Graveyard, i.e. "Armed Dragons", "Reasoning", "Lightning Vortex", "Twin Twisters" and "Raigeki Break". Dragon Ravine is a Field Spell Card carrying a lot of synergy not only for Dragunity, but for many Dragon decks in general, including this one. As a matter of fact, it is possible to make a Deck that revolves around the act of discarding Dragons in order to do certain things. "Lightning Vortex" can wipe out all of your opponent's face-up monsters, especially Link Monsters. "Twin Twisters" can destroy up to two Spells and Traps, while at the same time, discarding a Dragon. "The Melody of Awakening Dragon" searches two Dragons with at least 3000 ATK and at most 2500 ATK. "The Dragon's Bead" prevents your opponent from being able to target your Dragons with Traps. "Booby Trap E" can set a Continuous Trap from your hand to the Graveyard, and even lets you activate it on that same turn. "Yamata Dragon" is a handy card to use, since it causes you to draw until your hand contains 5 cards each time it inflicts Battle Damage. It can be kept on the field with "Spiritual Energy Settle Machine", which requires you to discard a card to the Graveyard during each of your End Phases. Alternatively, you can copy its effect from the Graveyard with "Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom" on each of your turns. Since SKDSV also lets your monsters inflict piercing damage when its effect is used, it will be easier to draw with "Yamata Dragon's" effect. "Gungnir, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" allows you to discard at most two cards from your hand, to destroy that many cards on your opponent's cards. Because of all of these cards, "Forced Requisition" is a good addition to a Graveyard Dragon Power Deck. "Into the Void" is especially handy with "Forced Requisition", since your opponent will also be handless during the End Phase. "Mask Change II" can be used on a Level 5 or lower DARK Dragon to summon "Masked HERO Dark Law", which banishes your opponent's cards instead of sending them to the Graveyard(Or on the Extra Deck face-up, in the case of Pendulum monsters). This can give you an edge against other Graveyard-based Decks such as "Burning Abyss", "Dark World", etc.

"Zaborg the Mega Monarch" is a particularly powerful monster, since it destroys a monster on the field when Tribute Summoned, and Mills cards from both players' Extra Decks equal to that monster's original Level/Rank if the monster's attribute was LIGHT. One of the best monsters to destroy this way is "Mega Zaborg" itself. This makes it possible to include Dragon-type Pendulum monsters such as "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon" in your Deck, since "Mega Zaborg" sends face-up Pendulums in your Extra Deck to the Graveyard. As an example, you would be able to dump two copes of "Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord" that you Tributed to summon "Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom", along with 6 other Dragons. On top of that, SKDSV can gain the effects of a monster on the field or in either player's Graveyard once per turn, which means that it can exploit the effects of the other Dragons that you've Milled. Finally, your monsters will be able to inflict piercing damage for the rest of the turn if SKDSV's effect is used, which goes hand in hand with BESD and REDD. Even without the use of Pendulum Monsters, "Mega Zaborg" is a deadly addition to such a Deck. After destroying itself with its effect, you can Mill 8 Dragons from your Extra Deck, giving BESD or REDD another 2400 ATK. This is easier to pull off in a Deck focusing on the latter, since you can use "Return of the Red-Eyes" to summon two Normal Monsters after having previously played "Red-Eyes Fusion". In that case, you would have 11 Dragons in your Graveyard(12 if you used "Red-Eyes Insight" to search for RRE or REF), which can be deadly for your opponent if your Deck still contains a large amount of Dragons. You can also use "Mega Zaborg's" effect to destroy your "Deep-Eyes White Dragon", destroying every monster your opponent controls, while also Milling 3 copies of "Elder Entity N'tss", whose effects can be used to destroy 3 of your opponent's Spells and Traps, resulting in an almost complete field wipe.

The remainder of the deck should be made up of cards which can discard or send monsters to the Graveyard, i.e. "Armed Dragons", "Foolish Burial", "Lightning Vortex", and "Raigeki Break". Dragon Ravine is a Field Spell Card carrying a lot of synergy not only for Dragunity, but for many Dragon decks in general, including this one. "Forbidden Graveyard" is quite useful, because it counters Monsters like "Electromagnetic Turtle", "Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World", "Elemental HERO Absolute Zero", etc.

If playing in Traditional Format, Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End is an incredibly useful card, because it is a Dragon-type monster whose effect can send other dragons to the Graveyard easily. It can also set off an OTK in a Deck focusing on "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon". While you control "Meteor Black Comet Dragon", "Chaos Emperor Dragon"(Which can be easily searched with "The Melody of Awakening Dragon" or "Draconnection"), and "Black Metal Dragon"(Searched with "One for One" or "Draconnection"), use the effect of "Chaos Emperor Dragon" to dump all of the cards on the field and in the hands to the Graveyard, then inflict 300 damage to your opponent for each one. Because MBCD was sent from the Monster Zone to the Graveyard, you can summon "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" from it. Then search "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" with "Black Metal Dragon's" effect, and Special Summon it. Due to the damage caused by "Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End", one direct attack will normally suffice. REDD can be sent to the Graveyard somehow(Possibly with "Meteor Black Comet Dragon's" effect) and then placed on top of your Deck beforehand with "A Feather of the Phoenix". If REDD is already in your hand, you can put it at the bottom of your Deck with "Multiple Destruction", and both you and your opponent will draw 5 new cards afterwards, which also potentially inflicts more damage with "Chaos Emperor Dragon's" effect.

If playing in Traditional Format, Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End is an incredibly useful card, because it is a Dragon-type monster whose effect can send other dragons to the Graveyard easily. Future Fusion is another powerful card that can send up to five dragons to the Graveyard when Five-Headed Dragon is selected.

"Sixth Sense" serves as a double-edged sword, because it can give you major draw power instantly or dump Dragons from the top of your Deck to the Graveyard.

A "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" Deck should begin focus on Special Summoning "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" then Fusion Summoning "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon". If you decide to use cards like "Cyber-Stein" to Summon it, make sure you already have the three copies of "Blue-Eyes" in your Graveyard. Also, "Dragon's Mirror" can be used, but is not recommended because it removes the Fusion Material Monsters from play. In that case, use "Burial from a Different Dimension" to return them to the Graveyard.

"The White Stone of Ancients" is extremely useful, because not only does it search for "Blue-Eyes" monsters during the End Phase of the turn is was sent to the Graveyard, but it will also later serve as extra power for "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon". "Paladin of White Dragon" can also be useful to quickly summon "Blue-Eyes White Drago"and as an extra Dragon in the graveyard. "Burst Stream of Destruction" is a good choice if you activate it when BEWD is on the field, as it will clear your opponent's side of the field ready for BESD, possibly achieving an OTK.  As "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" is a Normal Monster, "Silver's Cry" is a good choice to Special Summon it from the Graveyard after your monster is sent there.

Another useful strategy involves "Five-Headed Dragon" and "Future Fusion" (Traditional Format only). This will help send more Dragons to the Graveyard. Use 3 of "The White Stone of Legend" as Fusion Material Monsters, and you can also add 3 "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" to your hand. If "Polymerization" is also in your hand, "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" will be a Fusion Summon and a Tribute away.

"The Black Stone of Legend" (to Summon "Red-Eyes B. Dragon"), and "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" can lead to a rapid combo in just one turn. Cards like "The Dragon's Bead" (for Traps that target) and the Horus LV series (to destroy your opponent's Spells) could be added to protect "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon". Champion's Vigilance is a powerful Counter Trap Card with an effect similar to Solemn Judgment. However, you are required to only have a Level 7 or higher Normal Monster Face-up on the field, and do not have to pay any risky Cost to activate this card. Red-Eyes Wyvern and Red-Eyes Spirit are especially useful because they can be used to summon both Red-Eyes B. Dragon and Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon; two of the most important Monsters in the Deck.

"The Black Stone of Legend", "Red-Eyes Baby Dragon" (to Summon "Red-Eyes B. Dragon", with the latter being able to search out extra copies of itself if destroyed by battle, and the former if sent to the Graveyard while equipped by its second effect), and "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" can lead to a rapid combo in just a few turns. Like its lesser counterpart, "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" sacrifices power for potential and flexibility. If Horus Lockdown is incorporated, try to avoid including "Royal Decree", as "Dragon's Rage" will have its effects negated.  As an alternate strategy, you can combine "Tyrant's Temper" and "Tyrant's Tirade" with "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8's" effect. Alternatively, Safe Zone can be used to protect Horus. You can use "DNA Surgery" to transform all Monsters on the field into Dragons while you control "King Dragun" to prevent your opponent from targeting Monsters with card effects. "Lady of D.", when paired with said combo, will assure that REDD will be near unassailable. "Rescue Rabbit" can bring out "Queen Dragun Djinn" to protect "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" from battle. "Meteor Dragon Red-Eyes Impact" is a great addition to a REDD deck, as it protects your other "Red-Eyes" Monsters from destruction when it becomes an Effect Monster.

It is also possible to use a Hieratic engine to summon Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon, since they can easily summon Red-Eyes B. Dragon from the deck with their effects. In addition, the effects of Hieratic Dragons activate when tributed; setting up the Graveyard to power up REDD. Use Inferno Fire Blast after summoning Red-Eyes B. Dragon to inflict even more Damage, then summon REDD for an all out attack to either OTK or inflict a crippling amount of Damage. Considering Red-Eyes B. Dragon is a Level 7 Monster, it would be wise to include a few Rank 7 Xyz Monsters like Number 11: Big Eye, and of course Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger. A few Chaos elements could also be included given the presence of LIGHT and DARK Attribute Monsters, but don't go overboard since you will need Dragons in the Graveyard.
+
One of the "Red-Eyes" archetype's best gimmicks is Burn damage. "Red-Eyes" Fusion not only lets you Fusion Summon using at least a "Red-Eyes" Monster, but it also changes that Fusion Monster's name to "Red-Eyes B. Dragon". Because of that, you can target your new monster with "Inferno Fire Blast", inflicting its original ATK to your opponent as damage. The best choice for a Monster to Fusion Summon with this card is "Meteor Black Comet Dragon", not only due to its original ATK of 3500, but the fact that it can dump a "Red-Eyes" monster from your hand or deck, and inflict half of its ATK to the opponent as damage. In addition, it can Special Summon a Normal monster from your Graveyard when sent there from the Monster Zone. This means that after Tributing "Meteor Black Comet Dragon" to summon REDD, you can Special Summon a Normal monster from your Graveyard, which you can use to set up certain plays, such as Tributing it to activate "Tyrant's Temper" or "Monster Gate". "Meteor Flare" requires you to send 2 cards in your hand to the Graveyard in order to be activated, which means you can dump 2 Dragons in order to inflict 2000 damage. "Stamping Destruction" lets you destroy a Spell/Trap on the field, assuming you control a Dragon, and then inflicts 500 damage to that card's controller. "Dragon's Gunfire" can either inflict 800 damage to the opponent, or destroy a monster on the field with 800 or less DEF. "Dragocytos Corrupted Nethersoul Dragon" is a handy Extra Deck monster to have, since it cannot be destroyed by battle, and can halve the ATK of one of your opponent's monsters during your Standby Phases, inflicting that lost ATK as damage in each instance. Between the barrage of Effect damage and Graveyard setup, only one attack from REDD would be needed to end the duel.

This card can also be used in a Virus Control Deck with ease, as many Dragon-type Monsters are DARK, especially those of the "Red-Eyes" Archetype. The cost of the Viruses are a good way to send them to the Graveyard, and they have the added benefit of wiping out the opponent's cards. It is also wise to use them with cards that force your opponent to draw to destroy as many of their cards as possible. It's recommended that you use cards that force them to draw and discard, sending more of their cards to the Graveyard. If you can't defeat your opponent with REDD, inducing a Deck Out will serve as a backup plan.
+
An REDD Deck can also use "Beelze of the Diabolic Dragons" and "Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon" to set up an OTK. After summoning "Beelze", put it under your opponent's control with something like "Creature Swap" or "Shien's Spy" before summoning "Flare Metal". To finish this OTK, find a way to inflict damage while your opponent still controls "Beelze" and "Flare Metal" still has Xyz Materials. Either attack "Beelze" with REDD or find a way to inflict effect damage. If you inflict Battle Damage in a battle with "Beelze" or inflict effect damage to your opponent, it will gain an equal amount of ATK and DEF. If "Flare Metal" still has Xyz Materials when this happens, it will deal 500 damage, and "Beelze" will gain 500 ATK and DEF, trapping your opponent in an Infinite Loop. If your opponent activates a card effect in an attempt to stop it, the loop will resume, making this OTK very difficult to avoid.

Cyberdarkness Deck
A Cyberdarkness Deck is based around a similar strategy, only including the Cyberdark series alongside "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" or "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon". The effect of "Cyberdark Dragon" is similar to that of Darkness Dragons. As the Deck will have somewhat an emphasis on Cyberdarks, adding "Hunter Dragon" will help maximize their use, as it has the highest ATK for any Level 3 or lower Dragon-Type Monster.

Guiver Deck
 +
A Guiver Deck is a mashup of a "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" Deck and a Virus Control Deck. All of the Viruses, excluding "Planet Pollutant Virus", require for the player to Tribute a DARK Monster in order to be activated. When a Virus is activated, the opponent must reveal the cards on their field, in their hand, and that they draw, and if they fall into the category of the Virus, they are destroyed until their 3rd End Phase after the Virus is activated. Note that this is not the case for "Crush Card Virus" due to its erratum, which was done to make "Doom Virus Dragon" playable in tournaments. Virus Control Decks in general are brutal if they contain cards that force the opponent to draw, since the cards that the opponent draws are revealed and possibly destroyed. Therefore, a Guiver Deck should contain cards like this. Eventually, your opponent will have lost so many of their cards that they may not be able to defend themselves against attacks from REDD. If you don't defeat your opponent with REDD, there is still the satisfaction of causing your opponent to Deck Out.
 +

 +
Mass-draw cards like "Morphing Jar"(Traditional Format), "Multiple Destruction", and "Present Card" are deadly additions to Guiver and Virus Control Decks in general, since the Viruses' Lingering effects will bite a large chunk out of your opponent's new hand. If multiple Viruses are active when this happens, your opponent may lose their hand altogether, and even the card they draw on their Draw Phase. "Side Effects?" is a good part of this Deck, since it forces your opponent to draw 1 to 3 cards, and gives you 2000 LP for each one. If a "Virus" you already used is still active, your opponent will find this card to be unnerving. If they choose 2 or 3 cards, they may draw something that can help them, but you will gain at least 4000 LP. If they choose only 1 card, you will only gain 2000 LP, but their chances of drawing an ideal card will be slim. "Dark Bribe" and "Recall" are ideal Counter Traps, since they force your opponent to draw a card and also negates their Spell/Trap and Monster effect respectively, and destroys it.
 +

 +
With the advent of "Boogie Trap", it is now possible to use "Eradicator Epidemic Virus" twice during your turn, destroying your opponent's Spells and Traps. The cost of having to discard 2 cards can also dump two Dragons into your Graveyard. "Return of the Red-Eyes" can supply you with the required Tributes.

The Viruses' costs can be just as powerful as their effects in Guiver Decks. Not only will they activate the Traps' effects, but they will send a Dragon to your Graveyard, powering REDD up. "Doom Virus Dragon" is a particularly helpful Monster in this Deck, as it doesn't need to be in the Graveyard to be a threat. The moment it is summoned, it destroys the opponent's Monsters with 1500 or more ATK until their 3rd End Phase following.
 +

 +
"Mask Change II" and "Masked HERO Dark Law" are also good cards to use, despite both of them being meant for "HERO" Decks. "Mask Change II's" cost of sending a Level 6 or lower DARK Dragon you control to the Graveyard is another example of a good cost, since REDD will gain another 300 ATK. While you control "Dark Law", your opponent's cards will be banished instead of being sent to the Graveyard, which is disastrous in a Virus/Mill combo. This allows Guiver and Virus Control Decks in general to be used against Graveyard-based Decks such as "Lightsworn", "Infernoids", "Laval", "Zombies", "X-Saber", and even other Graveyard Dragon Power Decks.

rokket Deck
 +
The booster pack Circuit Break gives Graveyard Dragon Power a major improvement, mainly due to the "Rokket" archetype. The "rokket" archetype makes a good engine for "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" and "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" Decks, due to the fact that their monsters are all Dragon-type. The Ace Monster of the "Rokket" archetype is "Borreload Dragon", which requires 4 monsters--at least 3 of them being Effect Monsters--to be Link Summoned.
 +

 +
As for "Borreload Dragon's" effects, it cannot be targeted by other Monster's effects, which makes it immune to "Number 101: Silent Honor ARK", "Fire Hand", and a handful of other Monsters. What truly makes this card a threat, however, is its synergy with the "rokkets." Once per turn, during either player's turn, you can target a face-up Monster on the field and its ATK and DEF are reduced by 500, and this effect cannot be chained to. "Anesthrokket Dragon", "Autorokket Dragon", "Magnarokket Dragon", "Metalrokket Dragon", and "Shelrokket Dragon" are all capable of destroying themselves when targeted by a Link Monster's effect, with the following effects:
 +

 +
* "Anesthrokket Dragon": Make one face-up Monster on the field unable to attack, also it has its effects negated.
 +

 +
* "Autorokket Dragon": Send one Spell or Trap card on the field to the Graveyard.
 +
* "Magnarokket Dragon": Send one Monster on the field to the Graveyard.
 +
* "Metalrokket Dragon": Destroy all cards your opponent controls in this destroyed card's column.
 +
* "Shelrokket Dragon": Destroy a monster in the same column that this card was in, and if there are any monsters in that destroyed monster's adjacent zone(s), destroy them.
 +
When one of these Monsters is destroyed and sent from the field to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon an differently-named "rokket" during the End Phase. This means that you can constantly dump one of your Dragons to the Graveyard to power up BESD or REDD, while also supplying "Borreload Dragon" with cannon fodder, thus having a major Card Advantage. "Supply Squad" lets you draw a card each time one of your "rokkets" gets destroyed. "Squib Draw" destroys a "Rokket" that you control and draws 2 cards, which is bumped up to 3 if you also control one copy of "Supply Squad". Since all of the "rokkets" are DARK, they can be used to Fusion Summon "Starving Venom Fusion Dragon", which also benefits from being destroyed. You can even do this on your opponent's turn with "Flash Fusion", due to the Floating effect of the "rokkets." "Quick Launch" summons a "Rokket" from your Deck and destroys it during the End Phase. Because of the constant shuffling that comes with using a "Rokket" engine, you will be almost immune to the "Raiza Loop", a common move in Monarch Decks. The severe Deck Thinning that will ensue makes "Blasting the Ruins" a viable Trap Card.
 +

 +
"Borreload Dragon" can also serve as an alternative to the Forbidden "Change of Heart". When it attacks an opponent's Monster, you can take control of it and move it to one of this card's Link Points. However, that Monster will be sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase of the next turn.
 +

 +
"Soldier Dragons" can also come in handy, since you can summon a Level 2 or lower Dragon once per turn with its effect. In a BESD Deck, you can use its effect to summon a "The White Stone of Legend", which will search a "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" when sent to the Graveyard. If done while your opponent controls a monster, you can then use "Inferno Reckless Summon" to search the other two. Or you can summon a "Sniffer Dragon" with its effect to search another copy of it, which can then be discarded to activate "Twin Twisters" or a similar card.
 +

 +
Busted Dragon Deck
 +
Both BESD and REDD Decks are vulnerable to Buster Blader Decks, as their Ace Monsters can easily do away with your Dragons. In addition to forcing your Dragons into Defense Position, "Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman" gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each one on your field and in your Graveyard. The effects of Dragons in your possession also cannot be activated while it is face-up on your opponent's field. "Dark Paladin" gains 500 ATK for each Dragon on either player's field or in their Graveyards, and can negate your Spell cards' activations and destroy them by discarding one card from your opponent's hand. Similarly, "Buster Dragon", an important weapon in Buster Blader Decks, can set up a loop during your turn in which it can equip a "Buster Blader" Monster with a "Destruction Sword" Monster, which restricts certain actions while it is equipped. For example, "Dragon Buster Destruction Sword", when equipped to a Monster, forbids you from Special Summoning from the Extra Deck. This can be disastrous for a BESD Deck, since that Monster cannot be summoned without "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon". A field lockdown can be made by controlling "Buster Dragon", "Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman", "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8", and "Royal Decree".
 +

 +
What is ironic is that "Buster Blader"/"Destruction Sword" cards can be used as support for a Dragon Graveyard Power Deck. The "Buster Blader"/"Destruction Sword" archetypes contain a handful of Dragon-type Monsters which can be used to power BESD or REDD up. These cards also tend to focus on locking down the opponent in one way or another. One could call this a Busted Dragon Deck.
 +

 +
Apart from their own, there are other Dragon-type Extra Deck Monsters that can be used to restrain your opponent. "Mirror Force Dragon" can destroy all of your opponent's cards if they attack one of your Monsters or try to target them with card effects, making it a major threat against "Savage Colosseum" and Aggro Decks. "Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon", while it still has Xyz Materials, will damage your opponent each time one of their card effects resolves. "Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon" can destroy a Level 5 or higher Monster that activates its effect, and gains that Monster's ATK when it battles. In a BESD Deck, "Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon" prevents either player from Special Summoning at least two Monsters at the same time. "Starving Venom Fusion Dragon" can wipe out your opponent's Special Summoned Monsters if it's destroyed after being Fusion Summoned. "Amulet Dragon" can banish any number of Spell cards from either player's Graveyard to increase its ATK and DEF, which can spell doom for a Magical Explosion Deck.

Dragon Synchro Deck
Since Graveyard Dragon Power decks already use some tuner monsters and most of the monsters that don't need tributes are Level 3 or lower giving you control of what Synchro Monster you are summoning it might make sense to include a few Synchro Monsters in your Extra Deck.  Tuner monsters you could use include Dread Dragon and Magna Drago. You can use one of them alongside a Level 4 monster card to Synchro Summon Iron Chain Dragon. Another way of summoning Iron Chain Dragon is to Normal Summon Debris Dragon and use it's effect to Special Summon from the Graveyard a Level 2 Monster Card with 500 or less attack points (such as Decoy Dragon) and Synchro Summon Iron Chain Dragon. You can use Iron Chain Dragon as a bridge to Stardust Dragon or Red Dragon Archfiend depending on the circumstances. Delta Flyer is one of the most versatile Tuner Monsters in the game. You can play this alongside a Level 2 monster like Totem Dragon to Summon a Rank 3 Xyz Monster, or a Level 5 or 6 Synchro Monsterc or a Level 4 monster to Synchro Summon either a Level 7 or 8 Monster, and beside a Level 6 Monster, it can summon the Level 10 Trident Dragion.

If you have Level 1 non-tuners in your deck you can use one of them and The White Stone of Legend to Synchro Summon Formula Synchron and use use it with Stardust Dragon to Synchro Summon Shooting Star Dragon. Using Red Dragon Archfiend and Red Nova Dragon makes more sense though since you don't have to clutter your deck with as many cards only used for their summoning and Formula Synchron would make your deck not be pure Dragon Type and render Solidarity useless. Additionally Red Nova Dragon is a Graveyard power Monster and is simply stronger. Its attack points will be at least 5000 from the tuners it took to summon it and probably more from tuners that would be in the Graveyard anyway because they support this deck, such as The White Stone of Legend and Dread Dragon, Shooting Star Dragon only has 3300 attack points. Also Shooting Star Dragon can only negate an effect once per turn, Red Nova Dragon can do it as many times as you want. The summoning of Red Nova Dragon may be more difficult, however because most tuners aren't suited for attacking and Red Dragon Archfiend destroys your monsters that do not attack. Luckily there is a way around this. You can use Book of Moon before the end phase when Red Dragon Archfiend's effect activates so your monsters aren't destroyed.

*Cards such as "Soul Release" which can remove monsters from the graveyard could be a major problem for this deck, so side decking cards like "Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell" (or, to a higher extent, "Imperial Iron Wall") can help to solve this problem.

*"Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" is more vulnerable to card effects than "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" is. However, a well built deck should be able to overcome this issue.

*In exchange for being more flexible, "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" is more vulnerable to card effects than "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon". However, a well built deck should be able to overcome this issue.
*Buster Blader monsters and "Dark Paladin" will have very high attack power against your monsters. "Buster Blader, the Dragon Destroyer Swordsman" will also force your Dragons into Defense Position and prevent their effects from activating. Despite the goal of your own deck, "Zombie World" can counter this and allow your Dragons to overpower any "Buster Blader" monster or "Dark Paladin". With the strongest "Buster Blader" monster having 2800 ATK, "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" would become more than a match thanks to "Zombie World" (which can also be destroyed with your own cards, like "Twin Twisters", later).

*"Chaos Sorcerer" and "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning" both can be devastating  because of their potential to banish several of your monsters, which can interrupt summoning combos (i.e. LV series dragons or fusion summoning combos involving cards such as "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" or "King Dragun"). If your opponent has these card, make sure to destroy it before it does significant damage or use cards like "King Dragun" and "Imperial Iron Wall" that can prevent their effects from being used.

**Ironically, REDD or BESD Decks can use "Destruction Sword" and "Buster Blader" cards as support, since they usually contain a good amount of Dragons.

**"Gigarays Gandora the Dragon of Destruction" can exploit this weakness, as it gains 300 ATK for each banished card. It can also serve as the secondary Ace Monster of your Deck. And "Necroface", when Normal Summoned, shuffles all banished cards into the Deck.

A Graveyard Dragon Power-based Deck focuses on sending Dragon-Type monsters to the Graveyard in order to strengthen "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" and/or "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon".

Play Style[edit]

A Deck built around either "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" or "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" focuses on "Graveyard Dragon Power" to boost the ATK of these Dragons. Both "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" and "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" gain 300 ATK for each Dragon-Type monster in your Graveyard.

Strategy[edit]

If you have "King Dragun" in your extra deck (which is especially useful with REDD based decks as you can use it to protect your dragons from card effects) you can use Masked Dragon's effect to search out "Divine Dragon Ragnarok" which is one of its Fusion Materials.

"Sixth Sense" serves as a double-edged sword, because it can give you major draw power instantly or dump Dragons from the top of your Deck to the Graveyard.

Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon[edit]

A "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" Deck should begin focus on Special Summoning "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" then Fusion Summoning "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon". If you decide to use cards like "Cyber-Stein" to Summon it, make sure you already have the three copies of "Blue-Eyes" in your Graveyard. Also, "Dragon's Mirror" can be used, but is not recommended because it removes the Fusion Materials from play.

"Paladin of White Dragon" can also be useful to quickly summon "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and as an extra Dragon in the Graveyard.

Another useful strategy involves "Five-Headed Dragon" and "Future Fusion". This will help send more Dragons to the Graveyard. Use 3 of "The White Stone of Legend" as Fusion Materials, and you can also add 3 "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" to your hand. If "Polymerization" is also in your hand, "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" will be a Fusion Summon and a Tribute away.

"The Melody of Awakening Dragon" can search out multiple copies of "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", "Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon", and/or "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" at once.

Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon[edit]

"The Black Stone of Legend", "Red-Eyes Baby Dragon" (to Summon "Red-Eyes B. Dragon", with the latter being able to search out extra copies of itself if destroyed by battle, and the former if sent to the Graveyard while equipped by its second effect), and "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" can lead to a rapid combo in just a few turns. Cards like "The Dragon's Bead" (for Traps that target) and the Horus LV series (to destroy your opponent's Spells) could be added to protect "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon". "Champion's Vigilance" is a powerful Counter Trap Card with an effect similar to "Solemn Judgment". However, you are required to only have a Level 7 or higher Normal Monster Face-up on the field, and do not have to pay any risky Cost to activate this card. "Red-Eyes Wyvern" and "Red-Eyes Spirit" are especially useful because they can be used to summon both "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" and "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon", two of the most important Monsters in the Deck.

It is also possible to use a Hieratic engine to summon "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon", since they can easily summon "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" from the deck with their effects. In addition, the effects of Hieratic Dragons activate when tributed; setting up the Graveyard to power up REDD. Use "Inferno Fire Blast" after summoning "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" to inflict even more Damage, then summon REDD for an all out attack to either OTK or inflict a crippling amount of Damage. Considering "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" is a Level 7 Monster, it would be wise to include a few Rank 7 Xyz Monsters like "Number 11: Big Eye", and of course, "Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger". A few Chaos elements could also be included given the presence of LIGHT and DARK Attribute Monsters, but don't go overboard since you will need Dragons in the Graveyard.

Cyberdarkness Deck[edit]

A Cyberdarkness Deck is based around a similar strategy, only including the Cyberdark series alongside "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" or "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon". The effect of "Cyberdark Dragon" is similar to that of either Monster. As the Deck will have somewhat an emphasis on Cyberdarks, adding "Hunter Dragon" will help maximize their use, as it has the highest ATK for any Level 3 or lower Dragon-Type Monster.

Guiver Deck[edit]

This allows Guiver and Virus Control Decks in general to be used against Graveyard-based Decks such as "Lightsworn", "Infernoids", "Laval", "Zombies", "X-Saber", and even other Graveyard Dragon Power Decks.

rokket Deck[edit]

The booster pack Circuit Break gives Graveyard Dragon Power a major improvement, mainly due to the "Rokket" archetype. The "rokket" archetype makes a good engine for "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" and "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" Decks, due to the fact that their monsters are all Dragon-type. The Ace Monster of the "Rokket" archetype is "Borreload Dragon", which requires 4 monsters--at least 3 of them being Effect Monsters--to be Link Summoned.

 • "Anesthrokket Dragon": Make one face-up Monster on the field unable to attack, also it has its effects negated.
 • "Autorokket Dragon": Send one Spell or Trap card on the field to the Graveyard.
 • "Magnarokket Dragon": Send one Monster on the field to the Graveyard.
 • "Metalrokket Dragon": Destroy all cards your opponent controls in this destroyed card's column.
 • "Shelrokket Dragon": Destroy a monster in the same column that this card was in, and if there are any monsters in that destroyed monster's adjacent zone(s), destroy them.

"Borreload Dragon" can also serve as an alternative to the Forbidden "Change of Heart". When it attacks an opponent's Monster, you can take control of it and move it to one of this card's Link Points. However, that Monster will be sent to the Graveyard during the End Phase of the next turn.

Busted Dragon Deck[edit]

Dragon Synchro Deck[edit]

Since Graveyard Dragon Power decks already use some Tuner Monsters and most of the Monsters that don't need Tributes are Level 3 or lower, giving you control of whatever Synchro Monster you are summoning, it might make sense to include a few Synchro Monsters in your Extra Deck.

If you have Level 1 non-tuners in your Deck, you can use one of them and "The White Stone of Legend" to Synchro Summon "Formula Synchron" and use use it with "Stardust Dragon" to Synchro Summon "Shooting Star Dragon". Using "Red Dragon Archfiend" and "Red Nova Dragon" makes more sense though since you don't have to clutter your Deck with as many cards only used for their summoning and Formula Synchron would make your Deck not be pure Dragon Type and render Solidarity useless. Additionally, "Red Nova Dragon" is a Graveyard power Monster and is simply stronger. You can use "Book of Moon" before the end phase when "Red Dragon Archfiend's" effect activates so your monsters aren't destroyed.
