Notes

  • When Joey attacks Zigfried's "Valkyrie Erste" with his "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" (second-to-last turn of the episode), the English Dub is poorly translated.
    • In the Dub, Joey says "Fine. Alright Red-Eyes, you get rid of her! With Inferno Fire Blast", clearly referring to "Valkyrie Brünnhilde" (which had been previously attacked by Joey's "Maximum Six", but had avoided destruction thanks to its Special Effect).
    • In the original Japanese, the attack target is correctly referred to as "the other Valkyrie" (i.e. Erste).

  • As a trivial fact, the screen displaying the Duel results in the Japanese version contains the same typo again: it reads 'Jyounouchi' instead of 'Jounouchi'.

"Ride of the Valkyries"

  • The Valkyries, when combined, can create a very powerful combo: upon their descent, all Monsters are Destroyed, they can be Removed from the Game and their ATK points be copied. Before the Player knows it, he or she is under the Direct Attack of them. It's no wonder now how did Weevil & Rex lose in just 1 Turn.

Kaiba's list of suspects.

  • In the meanwhile, Kaiba manages to isolate the Virus and make all attractions go back to normal.
  • Mokuba thinks that the whole thing is weird, so he runs off to speak with his brother.
  • Zigfried looks slightly surprised but admits that, given the level of this challenge, it was obvious that Kaiba would be able to deal with it. He wonder, though, if he's able to find him.
  • Kaiba is trying to think who could've designed such a program: that party Gozaburo threw years ago comes back to his memory, as well as the enigmatic "genius" boy. He looks at Zigfried and looks like he has a hunch.
Seto Kaiba: "Isono. Conduct an investigation on Sieg Lloy. Find out if he's linked somewhat to the Schroider family."
Roland: "By 'Schroider family', do you mean...?"
Seto Kaiba: "In the past, Gouzaburou approached them to make up a good business relationship in Europe and something happened in that worthless party."
  • He turns around to look at the monitors again.
Seto Kaiba:(thinking): "If it indeed is the man we're talking about, this shouldn't be difficult for him."

Zigfried's Urd Sisters and the "Nibelung's Ring"

  • His next move is to Engage 3 Continuous Spell Cards: the 3 Urd Sisters, which control Past, Present and Future.
  • By their combined Effects, Sieg can look at the top 3 Cards in his Opponent's Deck. He can then re-arrange them and guess if the top-most Card is a Monster Card: if he's right, that Monster is Special Summoned in Face-Down Defense Position. Finally, if he can guess the exact Card, it's Removed from the Game.
  • As if this wasn't enough, instead of a normal Draw Phase, the opponent Player must Draw 2 Cards: if there's a Monster Card on them, one must Discarded into the Graveyard.
  • Yugi & Yami soon realize what's this about: it's a "Monster-Annihilating" Deck!

= Elsewhere...

  • The other 3 Duels end with the following results:
Round 2: Quarter-Finals
Leon Wilson beats Ethan Shark (LP: 4000 to zero)
Rebecca Hawkins beats Abe the Monkey Man (LP: unknown)
Balfry Ginger beats Paul McGregor (Duel result not shown)
  • Vivian Wong, watching from inside of the stadium, walks off. She seems to still be up to something.

Zigfried's Ace-in-the-sleeve.

  • Joey manages to get rid of all these Combos by returning all of the Spell Cards into Zigfried's Hand. Zigfried, however, manages to summon the strongest of his Valkyrie Monsters: "Valkyrie Brunnhilde".
  • By its Special Effect, it will gain +500 ATK per every Dragon - Type Monster on the Field. It can also sacrifice 1000 DEF points to avoid its Destruction, even though Battle Damage is still being applied.
  • Even though Joey gets rid of another of Sieg's Monsters and reduces his LP to just 100 Points, Zigfried equips "Brunhilde" with an Equip Spell Card: "Enchanted Sword Nothung", which allows her to Remove from the Game any Dragon-Type Monsters.
  • Zigfried also uses a Spell Card to increase her ATK +500 Points per every Monster Removed from the Game: although Joey tries to use a last resource, it fails and he's defeated.
  • Mokuba, watching from the control center, is sad that Joey lost given how Zigfried was about to be defeated. Kaiba, as always is unimpressed.
  • The "Best 4" have now been gathered.
