"Tentacles of Terror, Part 1", known as "Duelists of Sorrow - The Gimmick Puppets' Rumble of Darkness!!" in the Japanese version, is the one hundredth and fourteenth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime. It first aired in Japan on July 28, 2013 and aired online on Hulu on July 14, 2014.
While Rio still hasn't reawoken, Shark finds himself in doubt, unable to dispel the suspicion that he might be or was a Barian due to the memory he saw in the ruins. A suspicious shadow covers him, and he's forced into a Duel due to being poisoned, and is quickly cornered into a critical situation. However, his former rival Quattro suddenly appears...!
Featured Duel: Chironex vs. Shark and Quattro
The Duel begins with Chironex with 8000 Life Points and Shark and Quattro with 2000 Life Points each.
Turn 1: Shark
Shark Normal Summons "Saber Shark" (1600/1200) and Sets "Deep Current".
Turn 2: Chironex
Chironex Normal Summons "Des Chironex" (800/800). As he controls a WATER monster, Chironex Special Summons "Silence Sea Nettle" (800/1300) from his hand in Attack Position via its own effect. Chironex overlays his two Level 4 monsters to Xyz Summon "Number 4: Stealth Kragen" (1900/1500) in Attack Position. Chironex activates the effect of "Stealth Kragen", letting him destroy a WATER monster and inflict damage to his opponent equal to that monster's ATK. He destroys "Saber Shark" (Shark 2000 → 400). Chironex Sets a card.
Turn 3: Quattro
Quattro Normal Summons "Gimmick Puppet Des Troy" (1200/2000). He then activates "Card of Puppets", letting him destroy a "Gimmick Puppet" monster to draw a card. He destroys "Des Troy". As "Des Troy" was destroyed by a card effect, its effect activates, allowing Quattro to Special Summon two "Gimmick Puppet" monsters from his hand with 1000 or less ATK. He Special Summons "Twilight Joker" (800/1600) and "Dreary Doll" (0/0). Quattro overlays his two Level 8 monsters to Xyz Summon "Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder" (1500/2500) in Attack Position. He activates the effect of "Giant Grinder", detaching an Overlay Unit to destroy all other Xyz Monsters on the field and inflict damage to the their controllers equal to their ATK. "Stealth Kragen" is destroyed (Chironex 8000 → 6100). The effect of "Stealth Kragen" activates, letting Chironex Special Summon "Stealth Kragen Ephyra" from his Graveyard or Extra Deck, up to the number of Overlay Units that "Number 4" had and attach the old Overlay Units to the new monsters. He Special Summons two "Ephyra" (1900/1500 each) from his Extra Deck in Attack Position, each with one Overlay Unit.
