"The Carnival Begins!!" is the fifty-fourth chapter of the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Structures manga. It was first published November 21, 2023, in the V Jump magazine.
Summary[edit]
Featured Duel: Shoma Yusa vs Strong Jukyu[edit]
Turn 1: Shoma
Shoma Normal Summons "Genex Power Planner", and activates its effect, adding "Genex Ally Birdman" from his Deck to his hand. Shoma's remaining hand contains "Genex Worker", "R-Genex Oracle", "Genex Ally Solid" and "R-Genex Magma". He uses "Power Planner" as Link Material to Link Summon "Repaired Genex Controller". Upon its Link Summon, its 1st effect activates, allowing Shoma to add "Power Planner" from the GY to his hand; subsequently, Shoma activates its 2nd effect, allowing him to immediately Normal Summon "Power Planner". The effect of "Power Planner" activates, allowing Shoma to add "Genex Undine" from his Deck to his hand.
At this point, some steps of Shoma's turn are skipped. He now controls "Repaired Genex Controller", "Baronne de Fleur", "Arms of Genex Return Zero" and "F.A. Dawn Dragster" (ATK 2100) - all in Attack Position. His hand contains "R-Genex Turing", "R-Genex Undine", "Genex Ally Solid", "R-Genex Crusher", "Genex Power Planner" and "R-Genex Oracle".
Turn 2: Jukyu
Jukyu Normal Summons "Fire King Avatar Arvata", and subsequently activates "Fire King Sanctuary", which allows him to activate "Fire King Island" directly from his Deck. Shoma responds with the effect of "F.A. Dawn Dragster", who can reduce its own Level by 2 to negate the activation of Jukyu's Spell or Trap Card and destroy it; Jukyu chains with the effect of "Arvata", allowing him to negate the activation of Shoma's monster's effect and destroy another FIRE monster from his hand or field. Shoma chains with the effect of "Arms of Genex Return Zero", allowing him to banish the FIRE Attribute "R-Genex Magma" from his GY to negate the activation of Jukyu's FIRE monster's effect and destroy it (his GY currently contained "Genex Power Planner", "Genex Undine", "Genex Controller" and two copies of "R-Genex Magma"). Jukyu further chains with "Fire King Sky Burn", attempting to destroy his own "Fire King Avatar Arvata" and Shoma's "Baronne de Fleur". Finally, Shoma chains with the effect of "Baronne de Fleur", the negate the activation of "Sky Burn" and destroy it. The chain resolves, resulting in the negation and destruction of Jukyu's "Fire King Sky Burn", "Fire King Sanctuary" and "Fire King Avatar Arvata". Shoma's "F.A. Dawn Dragster" becomes Level 5 (ATK 1500). Since Jukyu's "Arvata" was destroyed, he activates the effect of "Legendary Fire King Ponix" from his hand, Special Summoning itself and allowing Jukyu to add "Fire King Island" from his Deck to his hand - which he subsequently activates. Jukyu activates the effect of "Fire King Island", destroying "Ponix" on his field and adding "Sacred Fire King Garunix" from his Deck to his hand. Since "Ponix" was destroyed, the effect of "Garunix" allows Jukyu to Special Summon it from his hand.
