Syrus Truesdale's Road to Duel Links is a Duel-A-Thonevent that occurred in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. This event allows the player to unlock Syrus Truesdale as a playable character. During this event, Syrus appears as the opponent Tardy Syrus with his special overworld icon and slightly different Decks from Syrus's original appearance as a roaming Duelist.
This event was held in a Duel-A-Thon format. Each completed Duel earns the player points to fill their Duel Meter, and items are awarded after accumulating certain amounts of points. There are two sets of rewards, each with their own Duel Meter: Daily Rewards and Cumulative Rewards.
During the event, Tardy Syrus appears in Duel World (GX). Dueling other Duelists in Duel World (except at the Gate and The Vagrant) or other players in Special or Ranked Duels increases the chance of Tardy Syrus reappearing.
The amount of event points earned from Dueling depends on the opponent and whether the player wins. If the player loses a Duel due to losing connection or surrendering, they do not receive any points from that Duel.
When a Duel Meter level is filled, the next Duel the player participates in will have its point value multiplied. The multiplier progresses in this order for each level filled: x2 → x3 → x4 → x5. Near the end of the event, this increases to x3 → x4 → x5 → x6. The Duel Meter Bonus only lasts for 1 Duel, and disappears if not used within the day.
There are a new set of Daily Rewards each day. Each set of Daily Rewards has 5 rewards, with the player earning one of these rewards each time they complete a Duel Meter. When the daily Duel Meter is reset, if the player had partially but not completely filled a meter, their remaining points will be converted to Gold.
Cumulative Rewards are rewards which the player earns event points towards throughout the whole event. Once the player has obtained all of the Cumulative Rewards, they earn Gold as reward every 1000 points.
When obtaining certain Cumulative Rewards, a special cutscene featuring Syrus and another Duel World (GX) character is shown, leading up to a solo cutscene where Syrus is unlocked (which is played even if the player has already unlocked Syrus).
