The people of "Mermail" are highly skilled fighters that live under the sea.

Their origins were hidden in their long journey of searching for a safe haven.

The Tribe of the Abyssal Waters is a Solo Mode Gate in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel and focuses on the Mermail archetype.

Like most Gates in Solo Mode, each Duel can be played with either the player's own Deck or a provided Loaner Deck fitting the theme of the Gate, with separate rewards for each. Completing this gate for the first time unlocks the "Forgotten City Dwellers" Secret Pack for 24 hours.

Chapter 3: Duel 1[edit]

If "Mermail Abysslinde" on the opponent's field is destroyed in battle or by an effect, you may back yourself into a corner by suddenly letting a Level 7 "Mermail Abyssbalaen" be Special Summoned from the Deck. Even if the number of cards in the opponent's hand or on their field is small, you must not let your guard down.

The opponent will often combine with "Umiiruka" to boost to 2000 ATK or more, even if the monster is Level 4 or lower. Try to ensure that your main monsters have high ATK so that you don't get overpowered.

Loaner Deck[edit]

High-Level "Mermail" monsters such as "Mermail Abyssmegalo" can unleash additional effects while Special Summoning themselves by discarding a certain number of WATER monsters from your hand to the Graveyard. The effect is powerful but uses a lot of cards in your hand, so be sure to select and discard monsters that activate effects when sent to the Graveyard, such as "Mermail Abyssgunde," to leave room to further your strategy.

Opponent's Deck[edit]

Aim to deploy Level 3 monsters centered around "Mermail" monsters to Xyz Summon Rank 3 Xyz Monsters. "Mermail Abysstrite" and "Shark Caesar" are powerful, but they require 3 monsters as Xyz Material. When a Fish-Type, Sea Serpent-Type, or Aqua-Type monster is Normal or Special Summoned to your side of the field, you can Special Summon "Shark Stickers" from your hand, so make sure to use it wisely.

Chapter 4.1: Locked[edit]

You must use 500 OrbWATER MD.png to unlock this chapter.

Chapter 4.2: Duel 2[edit]

The opponent is using a Deck that utilizes Fish-Type monsters to call forth powerful Xyz Monsters.

In particular, "Number 101: Silent Honor ARK" has a powerful effect that turns Attack Position monsters Special Summoned on your field into Xyz Material, so even if you Special Summon monsters with high ATK first, they may be dealt with by the opponent. Sometimes it is effective to wait and see how your opponent will set up before deploying your monsters.

Loaner Deck[edit]

Connecting Link Summons from 1 Level 4 or lower "Marincess" monster to "Marincess Blue Slug" and then "Marincess Coral Anemone" is a powerful tactic. It is also important to note that the effect of "Marincess Coral Anemone" can include "Mermail Abysshilde" and others as targets to be Special Summoned. Take advantage of the coordination among WATER monsters to create a powerful battle formation.

Opponent's Deck[edit]

A Deck centered around "Mermail" monsters, deploying Level 4 Fish-Type monsters and aiming for Xyz Summons. By utilizing "Lantern Shark" and "Buzzsaw Shark" as Xyz Materials, you can attempt not only Rank 4, but also Rank 3 and Rank 5 Xyz Summons. The key to victory is choosing an Xyz Monster that can respond to each situation.

Chapter 4.3: Duel 3[edit]

The opponent will make moves to gain control of your monster with the effect of their "Graydle" monster.

Since "Graydle Alligator" corresponds to battle or Spell Card effects, "Graydle Cobra" corresponds to battle or Trap Card effects, and "Graydle Eagle" corresponds to battle or monster effects, let's consider ways other than destroying the card to prevent its effects from being activated.

Effects such as that of "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" that returns cards to hand, and "Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" that banishes cards, are examples of how to deal with "Graydle" monsters.

Loaner Deck[edit]

A Deck that combines "Mermail" and "Penguin" monsters. "Mermail Abyssalacia" can support linked monsters and WATER monsters in the Graveyard, and the effect of "Royal Penguins Garden" can be used to activate the effects of "Mermail Abyssgunde" and other monsters discarded from the hand. Take advantage of both effects to Special Summon powerful Synchro and Xyz Monsters.

Opponent's Deck[edit]

A Deck that combines "Mermail" and "Graydle" monsters. If "Graydle Eagle" in your Monster Zone is destroyed in battle or by a monster's effect, it becomes an Equip Card equipped to your opponent's monster and you can activate its effect to gain control of it. This effect also works well with the effect of "Mermail Abyssnerei" in your hand, so take control of your opponent's monsters and take control of the Duel.
