Wicked Dragon of the Hidden City is a Solo Mode Gate in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel and focuses on the Subterror archetype.

Like most Gates in Solo Mode, each Duel can be played with either the player's own Deck or a provided Loaner Deck fitting the theme of the Gate, with separate rewards for each. Completing this gate for the first time unlocks the "Worthy Adversaries" Secret Pack for 24 hours.

Chapter 1: Scenario[edit]

Chapter 2: Practice[edit]

Learn the ins and outs of "Subterror" Decks.

Chapter 3: Duel 1[edit]

To utilize the effect of "Subterror Nemesis Warrior," you will need to have at least one other monster in your Monster Zone to Tribute.

Use "The Hidden City," "Subterror Nemesis Defender," and "Subterror Fiendess" to defend your monsters. Once you deploy the "Subterror Behemoth" monster, it will be your time to strike. Use "Subterror Final Battle" to boost your ATK, and go on the offense!

Loaner Deck[edit]

"Subterror Nemesis Warrior" can send a "Subterror" monster to the Graveyard from your Deck, and Special Summon that monster by Tributing itself and other monster. Tribute monsters like "Gilasaurus" that have effects that can Special Summon, and use them to Special Summon high-Level "Subterror Behemoth" monsters. Furthermore, "Subterror Final Battle," although being a Normal Trap Card, will be Set and won't be sent to the Graveyard even after activation, so its effect can be used from next turn and onward. Use this in conjunction to create a solid foundation for your attack.

Opponent's Deck[edit]

When a face-up monster card in your Monster Zone flips to a face-down Defense Position, and there are no other face-up monsters on the field, you can Special Summon a "Subterror Behemoth" from your hand. Many "Subterror Behemoth" monsters have an Ignition Effect that flips them to face-down Defense Position. If you have several "Subterror Behemoth" monsters in your hand, you can use this to deploy them all at once. Although this Deck seems vulnerable, "The Hidden City" and "Subterror Behemoth Burrowing" provide great defensive capabilities.

Chapter 4.1: Locked[edit]

You must use 500 OrbEARTH MD.png to unlock this chapter.

Chapter 4.2: Duel 2[edit]

The "Subterror Guru" specializes in unique tactics that differ from other "Subterror" monsters. The effect that can put a monster in face-down Defense Position can be activated even during the opponent's turn if the conditions are met. Use this in combination with other cards to confuse your opponent.

When an opponent's "Krawler" monster leaves the field while face-up due to the effect of one of your cards, it will trigger the effect to Special Summon another subsequent monster. Your objective is to find a way to prevent that from happening.

Loaner Deck[edit]

"Subterror Guru" has the effect of flipping itself and one other face-up monster to face-down Defense Position. This effect can be triggered as a Quick Effect if there are other "Subterror" acrds on your field, making it a powerful deterrent to your opponent's moves. Furthermore, "Subterror Guru" has an effect to add one other "Subterror" card to your hand when flipped. Use this in conjunction with cards like "Subterror Fiendess" to slowly whittle down your opponent.

Opponent's Deck[edit]

For the ability of "Subterror Guru" to flip a card to face-down Defense Position, you cannot only target your opponent's monsters but your own monsters as well. Many "Krawler" monsters have effects that trigger when they are flipped. Try to use this to your advantage. Also, when a "Krawler" monster leaves the field while face-up due to an opponent's effect, it will trigger an effect that Special Summons two more "Krawler" monsters. If you could use this effect to Link Summon "Subterror Behemoth Fiendess," you may be able to Special Summon other high-Level monsters, like "Deus X-Krawler" from your hand.

Chapter 4.3: Duel 3[edit]

Opponent's "Koa'ki Meiru" monsters have high ATK and DEF, and "Vernusylph" monsters alone may not be enough to fend them off. However, by using the "Vernusylph" monsters' effects that boost EARTH monsters' deployment, you can quickly play the "Subterror Behemoth" through other means. Use the "Subterror Behemoth" monster as the center piece of your assault to fend off your opponent's attacks.

When you successfully deploy five or more EARTH monsters face-up in your Monster Zone, you can use the effect of "Vera the Vernusylph Goddess" to negate your opponent's Monster Effect.

  • Reward (My Deck): 200 Gem-Master Duel.png

Loaner Deck[edit]

A mixed Deck that contains "Vernusylph" monsters that boost EARTH monsters. Since all "Subterror" monsters are EARTH monsters, they can utilize "Vernusylph" monsters' effects to discard a "Subterror" monster from your hand to Special Summon them from the Graveyard. This allows for a change of tactics from using just the "Subterror" cards on their own. For example, "Subterror Nemesis Archer" can be added to your hand from the Deck by using the effect of "Vernusylph of the Misting Seedlings," allowing for more creative ways of deployment.

Opponent's Deck[edit]

This Deck utilizes the effect of "Subterror Guru" and "Book of Lunar Eclipse" to support the "Koa'ki Meiru," which is a monster with high ATK and DEF but requires an additional cost to keep it on the field at your End Phase. "Koa'ki Meiru Urnight" has an effect that can Special Summon subsequent "Koa'ki Meiru" monsters from your Deck. This is one monster you especially want to keep on the field. The key is to be able to land your attacks while fending off your opponent's.
