The Struggle of the Six Samurai is a mulit-part Solo Mode Gate in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel and focuses on the Six Samurai archetype.

Like most Gates in Solo Mode, each Duel can be played with either the player's own Deck or a provided Loaner Deck fitting the theme of the Gate, with separate rewards for each. Completing each sub gate for the first time unlocks the "Great Shogun's Rule" Secret Pack for 24 hours.

No matter what life-or-death trials await the "Six Samurai" on the battlefield, they will always have each others' backs. Their solidarity is what will allow them to unify the nation!

This sub-gate focuses on the initial group of the Six Samurai.

Chapter 1: Scenario[edit]

In a war-torn country, one warlord, known as "Great Shogun Shien", strove to unite it under his banner. With his watchful eyes, deadly skills and incredible charisma, he was a commander unlike any other, often found leading the charge for his armies. However, Shien did not rule alone, for he is accompanied by many talented retainers.

Chapter 2: Scenario[edit]

Shien enacted his rule from his Castle of Mist, but he needed more than just an army to help him control the land. He enlisted numerous other talents to manage multiple domestic and diplomatic affairs to lay the foundations for his ideal nation. With the help of the Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, he recruited six elite warriors, and together they dominated the battlefield.

Chapter 3: Scenario[edit]

The Six Samurai were both skilled and loyal followers of Shien. Between them were: Yaichi, whose amazing focus lets him snipe anything in his sights; Kamon, whose explosive expertise lets him destroy any structure; Yariza, who can break through any enemy line; Nisashi, who tore through armies with his two blades; Zanji, whose naginata could cut down anyone before him; and Irou, who assassinates targets from the shadows.

Chapter 5: Duel 1[edit]

Loaner Deck[edit]

In order to get the most out of "Six Samurai" monsters, this Deck adds not only dedicated support cards but also general-purpose Spell/Trap Cards for greater stability. You'll be able to prevent "Gateway of the Six" and "Shien's Dojo" from being destroyed and keep them on the field, and once Bushido Counters are accumulated, they can activate a variety of effects, so use them to the best of your ability.

Opponent's Deck[edit]

A Deck that teaches you the basics of "Six Samurai." "Great Shogun Shien" is powerful, but the number of copies included is reduced to accommodate cases where the conditions for Summoning it are not met. Since it tends to lack aTK, take advantage of the support provided by Spells and Traps, and wait for the perfect timing to Summon it to the field, possibly utilizing "Six Scrolls of the Samurai" as well.

Loaner[edit]

A "Six Samurai" Deck based on the effect of "The Six Samurai - Kamon." The basic strategy is to destroy your opponent's face-up Spells and Traps such as Field Spells and Continuous Traps, but if they aren't using any, you can also do things like destroy "Blast with Chain" equipped to a monster on your field to destroy a card on the field.

Opponent's Deck[edit]

A "Six Samurai" Deck that focuses on "The Six Samurai - Yaichi's" effect. Not only can you utilize "Xing Zhen Hu," which blocks Spell/Trap Cards Set on your opponent's field from being turned face-up, but you can also use it to destroy "Wild Tornado" when it's Set on your field to destroy an opponent's face-up card.

Chapter 5.3: Duel 3[edit]

Loaner[edit]

A Deck that contains monsters in the Extra Deck that support "Six Samurai" monsters. Use them as a means to exceed the ATK of your opponent's monsters. You will need to keep cards in hand early on when preparing to line up monsters to be used as materials. "Six Style - Dual Wield" is a powerful tool when waiting to see how the opponent will respond.

Opponent's Deck[edit]

A Deck that takes advantage of "Great Shogun Shien's" effect to suppress the number of Spells and Traps and uses "Anti-Spell Fragrance" and multiple Counter Trap cards to delay the opponent's offensive moves. While it does not include many monsters with high ATK, you can still deal with pesky opponent's cards with Counter Trap cards and counter their combat with support from "Nitwit Outwit" and the effects of "Six Samurai" monsters.

Chapter 6: Goal[edit]

Through their talents and teamwork, the Six Samurai helped Shien dominate the battlefield. However, their path to victory would not be an easy one, as they were soon to find out...

In the age when fierce warriors clashed without cease, the one closes to securing complete conquest was the renowned Shien. For him to arrive at this point, many heroic sacrifices had to be made...

This sub-gate focuses on the Legendary Six Samurai part of the archetype.

Chapter 1: Scenario[edit]

In the time of Shien's youth, there were numerous warlords all vying for power. The shogun of his time led his own generation of Six Samurai, which Shien fought alongside. However, this shogun fell ill, but hid his disease and continued to fight for his nation until he succumbed. Shi En, the son of the shogun, took his father's place, but his relative inexperience led an attack to go awry. In the face of imminent defeat, Shinai sacrificed himself to buy time for Shi En's unit to retreat.

As news of the shogun's death broke out, the citizens became distressed and the neighboring states saw the opportunity to conquer the country. This also put stress on Shi En as he planned out how to handle his neighboring adversaries. However, his advisor urged him to prove his worth as the next shogun. Inspired by these words, Shi En got to work, devising multiple strategies to expand his territory and defend it. As Shi En won battle after battle, he gained a reputation to be feared, and the enemy armies would tremble at the sight of his smoke signal.

Loaner[edit]

"Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En" is the ace monster, able to not only negate an opponent's Spell/Trap Card activation but also to avoid destruction by using another "Six Samurai" monster as a shield. In addition, "Gateway of the Six," which can be added to the hand with "Battle Shogun of the Six Samurai," has powerful effects activated by removing Bushido Counters. combine this with "Legendary Six Samurai - Kizan," and you can flood the field and overwhelm the opponent.

Opponent's Deck[edit]

"Six Samurai" monsters are supported by "Secret Six Samurai" monsters, who have effects that will support your strategies. Aim to send them to the Graveyard, since this will let you banish them to prevent the destruction of "Six Samurai" monsters. Even once banished, "Six Samurai" monsters can still be useful, as they can be Special Summoned by "Secret Skills of the Six Samurai." Once you have made preparations, increase the ATK of "Shadow of the Six Samurai - Shien" and go on the offensive.

Loaner[edit]

The idea behind this Deck is to use "Legendary Six Samurai - Kizan," which can be easily Special Summoned, alongside "Heroic" cards that utilize it as an Xyz Material. Aim to Special Summon powerful Xyz Monsters like "Heroic Champion - Claivesolish" with the help of "Gateway of the Six." In some situations, it may be best to use a "Heroic" monster as material to Special Summon a "Six Samurai" monster, so think carefully.

Opponent's Deck[edit]

"Colossal Fighter" is a powerful monster that gains ATK based on the number of Warrior monsters in your Graveyard. Aim to Special Summon it through a combination of "Legendary Six Samurai" monsters and "Psi-Reflector." Special Summoning "Colossal Fighter/Assault Mode" with "Assault Mode Activate" allows you to send "Six Samurai" monsters to the Graveyard, instantly setting up "Legendary Six Samurai - Enishi" to use its effect.

Chapter 4.3: Duel 3[edit]

Loaner Deck[edit]

The idea behind this Deck is to harness the affinity of Level 4 "Legendary Six Samurai" monsters with the Rank 4 "Number 39: Utopia" monsters and their support cards. Try to use the effects of the "Legendary Six Samurai" monsters to Special Summon "Ultimate Dragonic Utopia Ray" equipped with several "ZW -" cards. With the effect of "Number 39: Utopia Double," it's possible to get your monster to 10000 ATK. Try to pull this off and attack with it!

Opponent's Deck[edit]

This Deck combines the combo ability of "Legendary Six Samurai" with "Gouki," who specializes in building a strong field through Link Monsters. An advantage of "Gouki" monsters is that you can add "Gouki" cards to your hand when they are sent to the Graveyard, meaning that you will have backup even after setting up your field. "Ra'ten, the Heavenly General" is a powerful monster able to support both "Gouki" and "Six Samurai" monsters. If you can manage to Special Summon it, victory shouldn't be far off.

Chapter 5: Goal[edit]

As time passed, Shi En inherited his father's position as shogun, becoming Great Shogun Shien. With his rise to shogun, the Legendary Six Samurai who once fought alongside him now serve in new commanding positions. Kageki, the "four-armed demon", retired from the frontline due to his injuries and served as the Chamberlain of the Six Samurai. Kizan, one of the strongest of the Six, claimed victory over Enishi in the Imperial Match and was appointed Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, tasked with recruitment and cultivation of the successors to the army. The reckless but fearsome Enishi took over the role of advisor and managed internal affairs. Secret Agent Mizuho pursued the life of monkhood after her husband Shinai's death, but moonlights as the Hand of the Six Samurai when the need arose.
