Seto's Turn
*Summons Z-Metal Tank (1500/1300) in Defense Position

*Since he controls a monster, he can also Special Summon Clone Dragon from his hand.  Clone Dragon becomes an exact duplicate of Seto's Tank, with all the same stats as the original.  (Clone Dragon's ATK/DEF: 1500/1300)

Zigfried's Turn
*The Duel is set in Kaiba Dome, the big audience stadium of Kaiba's theme park Kaibaland. The winner will have the honour of playing against Yugi Muto.
*Activates Valkyrie's Embrace. By switching the battle position of one of his Valkyries, he can remove a monster his opponent controls from play.  He switches his Dritte from Attack to Defense, removing Z-Metal Tank from play and increasing her ATK to 1200

*Suddenly, Seto Kaiba arrives and declares a "dueling foul": Zigfried entered the tournament under a false name (in breach of KC Championship contract rules), and must therefore be disqualified. Seto exposes Zigfried as Zigfried von Schroeder and immediately orders him to leave.
*Attacks Clone Dragon with Valkyrie Erste
+
*Zigfried calls Kaiba a coward, saying this is just a "technicality" excuse to prevent him from reaching the Championship crown. He offers to leave only if Kaiba can beat him in a Duel. Seto accepts. The featured Duel becomes Seto Kaiba vs. Zigfried von Schroeder.
*Attacks directly with Valkyrie Zwei (Seto 2400)

"Mischief of the Time Goddess":
*Attacks and destroys Pitch-Dark Dragon with Dritte.
+
*During this episode and during his first turn of the Duel, Zigfried declares an attack on a defenseless Seto. Seto uses Trap Card "Negate Attack" to negate it, but Zigfried then plays Spell Card "Mischief of the Time Goddess": the Duel seems to skip towards another Battle Phase for Zigfried, who then attacks again.
*Since a monster he controlled was destroyed, Seto can activate Flat Level 4, allowing both players of a Level 4 Special Summon from their Decks. Y-Dragon Head (1500/1600) is summoned to Seto's field in Defense Position while Zigfried Special Summons another Valkyrie Dritte
+
*Seto however, counters Zigfried's second attack by activating Trap Card "Magical Trick Mirror": he selects "Mischief of the Time Goddess" in Zigfried's Graveyard and activates it. It somehow permits Seto to stop Zigfried's current attack dead in its tracks, and go directly to his next turn (which Phase is unclear, at least initially).
 +
*The exact effects of "Mischief of the Time Goddess", as well as the subtleties of its application, aren't fully explained:
 +
**In the English Dub, Zigfried quotes: "Mischief of the Time Goddess" allows me to skip your turn, then I can pick off where I left off (...)".
 +
**In the original Japanese, Zigfried reads the exact text of the card instead: "Skip 1 turn. My turn to Battle Phase".
 +
**It is believed the card's text should be something along the lines of: "Immediately end current turn: its remaining Phases, including the End Phase, are skipped. Go directly to the Battle Phase of your next turn". A full discussion on how this conclusion was reached can be found in the "Mischief of the Time Goddess" DISCUSSION Page.

Seto's Turn
*Activates Pot of Greed and draws 2 cards

*Activates Dimension Fusion.  By paying 2000 LP (Seto 400), both players can Special Summon all their monsters that were removed from play.  Seto summons X-Head Cannon (1800/1500) and Z-Metal Tank (1500/1600) back to the field.

*Activates Soul Absorption.  Whenever a card is removed from play, Seto's Life Points will increase by 500 per card

*Removes his Cannon, Dragon Head, and Tank from play to Special Summon XYZ-Dragon Cannon (2800/2600) in Attack Position.

*Since 3 cards were removed from play, Soul Absorption increases Seto's LP by 1500 (Seto 1900)

*Attacks with his Dragon Cannon and destroys one of Zigfried's Drittes (Zigfried 2500)

Zigfried's Turn
+
Featured Duel: Seto Kaiba vs. Zigfried von Schroeder - Part 1
*Activates Nibelung's Treasure. This allows Zigfried to draw 5 cards from his Deck and equip Nibelung's Ring to Seto's Dragon Cannon, making it unable to attack.  In exchange, Seto can draw 2 cards per Draw Phase—but if either one he draws is a monster, it must go to the Graveyard immediately.

*Tributes Valkyrie Dritte to summon Fortune Chariot (0/0)

*Equips his Chariot to Valkyrie Zwei.  This allows Zwei to attack Seto directly, but only if Zigfried cuts her ATK in half. (Valkyrie Zwei's ATK: 800) (Seto 1100)

*Activates Mystical Space Typhoon and destroys Soul Absorption

*Sets a card

Seto's Turn
+
Seto Kaiba's Turn
*Draws 2 cards, due to the effect of Nibelung's Ring, but neither one is a monster
+
*Summons "X-Head Cannon" (1800 ATK / 1500 DEF) in Attack Position.
*Sets a card
+
*Sets two cards.

Zigfried's Turn
+
Zigfried von Schroeder's Turn #1
*Due to the effect of Fortune Chariot, Zigfried halves his Valkyrie Zwei's ATK (800) and attacks directly
+
*Activates Spell Card "Ride of the Valkyries": he can Special Summon 3 Valkyrie monsters from his hand: one "Valkyrie Erste" (1600 ATK / 1800 DEF), one "Valkyrie Zwei" (1600 ATK / 1600 DEF), and one "Valkyrie Dritte" (1000 ATK / 1600 DEF) in Attack Position.
*Seto activates Attack Guidance Armor and sends Zwei to attack Zigfried's Erste
+
**The first "Valkyrie Zwei's" special ability activates: Seto's "X-Head Cannon" is destroyed.
*Zigfried activates Wotan's Judgment, ending the Battle Phase.  Using its second effect to switch one random card in his hand for the top card in his Deck, he activates the Spell Cards Goddess Urd's Verdict, Goddess Verdandi's Guidance, and Goddess Skuld's Oracle
+
*Zigfried activates "Valkyrie Erste's" special ability: he targets "X-Head Cannon" in Seto's Graveyard and removes it from play so that his monster's ATK becomes equal to that of Seto's monster ("Valkyrie Erste": 1600 → 1800 ATK / 1800 DEF).
*With his Skuld, Zigfried can see the top 3 cards on Seto's Deck; almost loses his nerve when he discovers that the top 3 cards on Seto's Deck are his Blue-Eyes White Dragons.
+
*Thanks to its special ability, since a monster is now removed from play "Valkyrie Dritte" gains 100 ATK ("Valkyrie Dritte": 1000 → 1100 ATK / 1600 DEF).
*Using Verdandi's effect, he guesses the top card on Seto's Deck, declaring "Monster". Seto draws his Blue-Eyes and sets it on the field.
+
*Uses his "Valkyrie Zwei" to attack Seto directly.
*If he guesses the Set card correctly, Zigfried's Urd will remove it from play.  He declares "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", and the card is removed from play.
+
**Seto activates Trap Card "Negate Attack": it negates Zigfried's attack and ends the Battle Phase.
 +
*During his Main Phase 2, Zigfried activates Spell Card "Mischief of the Time Goddess": it allows him to skip the rest of his current turn and obtain a second turn immediately after, going directly to his Battle Phase.

Seto's Turn
+
Zigfried von Schroeder's Turn #2 - Battle Phase
*Draws 2 cards; Since he drew 2 monsters (Blue-Eyes White Dragons), one goes to the Graveyard and the other is added to his hand, due to the effect of Nibelung's Ring.
+
*Uses his "Valkyrie Zwei" to attack Seto directly again.
*Activates Monster Reborn and Special Summons his Blue-Eyes White Dragon (3000/2500) from the Graveyard
+
**Seto activates Trap Card "Magical Trick Mirror": he selects "Mischief of the Time Goddess" in Zigfried's Graveyard and activates it. It permits Seto to skip the rest of Zigfried's current turn and go directly to the Battle Phase of his next turn.
*Attacks Valkyrie Zwei with his Blue-Eyes, but Zigfried allows Fortune Chariot to be destroyed in his Valkyrie's place. (Zigfried 1100)

Zigfried's Turn
+
Seto Kaiba's Turn - Battle Phase
*Uses the effects of his Skuld, Verdandi, and Urd in order to remove Seto's Luster Dragon #2 from play
+
*Since Seto has no monsters on the field, he cannot attack. He goes directly to his Main Phase 2 (NOTE: in the original Japanese anime, this step is explained by Seto; the explanation is however skipped in the English dub and Seto trash-talks Zigfried instead).
*Activates Gryphon's Feather Duster, destroying all his Spells and Traps and gaining 500 Life Points for each one destroyed; the Goddesses are destroyed and Zigfried gains back 1500 LP (Zigfried 2600)
+
*During his Main Phase 2, Summons "Z-Metal Tank" (1500 ATK / 1300 DEF) in Defense Position.
*Tributes Valkyries Zwei and Erste to Summon Valkyrie Brünnhilde (1800/2000) in Defense Position
+
**Activates "Clone Dragon's" special ability, Special Summoning from his hand (? ATK / ? DEF) in Defense Position. "Clone Dragon" becomes an exact duplicate of Seto's "Z-Metal Tank", with all the same stats as the original monster ("Clone Dragon": ? → 1500 ATK / ? → 1300 DEF).

Seto's Turn
+
Zigfried von Schroeder's Turn
*Draws two cards, but due to the effect of Nibelung's Ring, he must discard his Cave Dragon.
+
*Since the end of Zigfried's previous turn was skipped, the second effect of "Ride of the Valkyries" could never activate. Thus, his "Valkyrie Erste", "Valkyrie Zwei", and "Valkyrie Dritte" are not returned to his Deck and are allowed to remain on the field (NOTE: again, the explanation of this step is exclusively in the original Japanese anime; it is skipped in the English dub).
*Attacks Brünnhilde with his Blue-Eyes
+
*Activates Spell Card "Valkyrie's Embrace": by switching the Battle Position of one of his Valkyries, he can remove a monster his opponent controls from play. Zigfried switches his "Valkyrie Dritte" from Attack to Defense Position, removing Seto's "Z-Metal Tank" from the game.
*Zigfried activates Brünnhilde's effect, lowering her DEF by 1000 points to prevent it from being destroyed in battle
+
*Thanks to its special ability, since an extra monster was removed from play "Valkyrie Dritte" gains another 100 ATK ("Valkyrie Dritte": 1100 → 1200 ATK / 1600 DEF).
*Sets a card
+
*Uses "Valkyrie Erste" to attack & destroy Seto's "Clone Dragon".
 +
*Uses "Valkyrie Zwei" to attack Seto directly (Seto: 4000 → 2400 Life Points).

Zigfried's Turn
+
Seto Kaiba's Turn
*Switches his Brünnhilde to Attack Position
+
*Summons "Pitch-Dark Dragon" (900 ATK / 600 DEF) in Defense Position.
*Activates Enchanted Sword Nothung, allowing him to remove Seto's Blue-Eyes from play.
+
*Sets a card.
*Equips Nothung to Brünnhilde, increasing its ATK by 400 (2200/2000).

*Activates Pegasus Wings, halving Brünnhilde's ATK and allowing her to attack Seto directly

*Seto activates Shrink to halve her ATK further, but Seto still takes damage (Seto 550)

Seto's Turn
+
Zigfried von Schroeder's Turn
*Draws 2 cards, due to the effect of Nibelung's Ring
+
*Switches his "Valkyrie Dritte" to Attack Position, and uses it to attack & destroy Seto's "Pitch-Dark Dragon".
*Activates Graceful Charity, drawing three cards from his Deck and discarding two from his hand.  He discards his Blue-Eyes and his Cloning Trap.
+
**Since a monster he controlled was destroyed, Seto can activate Trap Card "Flat Level 4": both players may Special Summon a Level 4 monster from their Hand or Deck. Seto Special Summons "Y-Dragon Head" (1500 ATK / 1600 DEF) in Defense Position; Zigfried Special Summons another "Valkyrie Dritte" (1000 → 1200 ATK / 1600 DEF) in Attack Position.
*Removes Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Pitch-Dark Dragon in his Graveyard from play to Special Summon his Chaos Emperor Dragon (3000/2500)

*Sets a card

*Activates Emergency Provisions, sending his Set card to the Graveyard and gaining back 1000 LP (Seto 1550)

*Pays the 1000 LP he'd just gained (Seto 550) to activate Chaos Emperor Dragon's effect. All cards in both player's hands and on the field are destroyed (including itself), and for every card Zigfried lost, he loses 300 LP per card; Zigfried had 2 cards on the field and 3 in his hand, so he loses 1500 LP (Zigfried 1100)

Zigfried's Turn
+
Seto Kaiba's Turn
*Activates Pot of Greed and draws 2 cards from his Deck.
+
*Activates Spell Card "Pot of Greed" to draw 2 cards.
*Activates Magical Alms, gaining 1000 LP (Zigfried 2100).  Also, both players' LP will increase by 500 for every Spell Card each player will predict he will play, but any fewer than the number the player predicts, and he will lose 1000 LP per card not played.
+
*Activates Spell Card "Dimension Fusion": Seto pays 2000 LP (Seto: 2400 → 400 Life Points) so that both players may Special Summon all their monsters removed from play. Seto Special Summons "X-Head Cannon" (1800 ATK / 1500 DEF) and "Z-Metal Tank" (1500 ATK / 1600 DEF) back to the field in Attack Position.
*Zigfried predicts he will use one Spell Card (Seto 1050) (Zigfried 2600) and plays Final Light, paying 1000 LP (Zigfried 1600) and allowing each player a Special Summon in Attack Position from his Graveyard.  Zigfried chooses Valkyrie Brünnhilde (1800/2000) while Seto Special Summons Cave Dragon (2000/100)
+
**Since no monsters are "removed from play" now, Sigfried's two "Valkyrie Drittes" lose their power boost ("Valkyrie Dritte": 1200 → 1000 ATK / 1600 DEF).
*Since Brünnhilde is in Attack Position, its ATK rises by 300 points for every Dragon and Warrior the opponent controls (ATK 2100)
+
*Activates Continuous Spell Cards "Soul Absorption": whenever a card is removed from play, Seto's LP will increase by 500 per card.
*Brünnhilde attacks and destroys Cave Dragon (Seto 950), but lowers her ATK back to 1800.
+
*Activates "XYZ-Dragon Cannon's" special ability: Seto removes his "X-Head Cannon", "Dragon Head", and "Z-Metal Tank" from play to Special Summon "XYZ-Dragon Cannon" (2800 ATK / 2600 DEF) from his Hand in Attack Position.
 +
**"Soul Absorption's" effect activates: with 3 cards removed from play, Seto's LP increase by 1500 (Seto: 400 → 1900 Life Points).
 +
**Thanks to its special ability, since 3 monsters are now removed from play Siegfried's two "Valkyrie Drittes" gain 300 ATK ("Valkyrie Dritte": 1000 → 1300 ATK / 1600 DEF).
 +
*Uses "XYZ-Dragon Cannon" to attack & destroy one of Zigfried's "Valkyrie Drittes" (Zigfried: 4000 → 2500 Life Points).

Seto's Turn
+
Zigfried von Schroeder's Turn
*Using the effect of Magical Alms, Seto predicts he'll use four Spells this turn and increases both players' LP by 2000 (Zigfried 3600) (Seto 2950)
+
*Activates Spell Card "Nibelung's Treasure".
*Activates Card of Demise.  Since he had no cards in his hand after he played it, he draws 5 cards from his Deck, but 5 turns after Card of Demise is played, Seto must discard his entire hand.
+
**Zigfried equips Equip Spell Card "Nibelung's Ring" from his Deck to Seto's "XYZ-Dragon Cannon". It cannot attack or be Tributed.
*Plays Soul Release, targeting Chaos Emperor Dragon in his Graveyard and removing it from play.
+
***"Nibelung's Ring" resolves and its control switches to Seto.
*Plays Spell Reproduction. By discarding 2 Spells from his hand, he can add 1 from his Graveyard. He discards Spell Absorption and Cost Down to return Dimension Fusion to his hand
+
**Thanks to "Nibelung's Treasure's" secondary effect, Zigfried draws 5 cards.
*Pays 2000 LP to activate Dimension Fusion (Seto 950) and Special Summons every monster removed from play.  He summons his 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons (3000/2500 each), his Chaos Emperor Dragon (3000/2500), and his Luster Dragon (2400/1400)
+
*Tributes "Valkyrie Dritte" to Summon "Fortune Chariot" (0 ATK / 0 DEF).
*Since Seto controls 5 Dragons and Valkyrie Brünnhilde is still on the field in Attack Position, its ATK rises by 300 points for every Dragon and Warrior he controls (ATK 3300)
+
*Equips his "Fortune Chariot" to "Valkyrie Zwei": now, by cutting its ATK in half ("Valkyrie Zwei": 1600 → 800 ATK / 1600 DEF) "Valkyrie Zwei" can attack Seto directly (Seto: 1900 → 1100 Life Points).
*Seto attacks with Luster Dragon, but Valkyrie Brünnhilde destroys it, dropping her ATK to 3000 (Seto 50)
+
*Activates Quick-Play Spell Card "Mystical Space Typhoon" to destroy Seto's "Soul Absorption".
*Attacks Brünnhilde with Chaos Emperor Dragon. The Dragon is destroyed, but Brünnhilde is not, due to her effect (2700/1000)
+
*Sets a card.
*Attacks Brünnhilde with one Blue-Eyes, depleting Brünnhilde's DEF and negating her effect (2400/0) (Zigfried 3300)

*Attacks and destroys Brünnhilde with his second Blue-Eyes (Zigfried 3000)

*Attacks directly with the third Blue-Eyes (Zigfried 0)

FINAL Duel
Zigfried Lloyd vs. Leon Wilson

  • The Duel is set in Kaiba Dome, the big audience stadium of Kaiba's theme park Kaibaland. The winner will have the honour of playing against Yugi Muto.
  • Suddenly, Seto Kaiba arrives and declares a "dueling foul": Zigfried entered the tournament under a false name (in breach of KC Championship contract rules), and must therefore be disqualified. Seto exposes Zigfried as Zigfried von Schroeder and immediately orders him to leave.
  • Zigfried calls Kaiba a coward, saying this is just a "technicality" excuse to prevent him from reaching the Championship crown. He offers to leave only if Kaiba can beat him in a Duel. Seto accepts. The featured Duel becomes Seto Kaiba vs. Zigfried von Schroeder.

Notes

"Mischief of the Time Goddess":

  • During this episode and during his first turn of the Duel, Zigfried declares an attack on a defenseless Seto. Seto uses Trap Card "Negate Attack" to negate it, but Zigfried then plays Spell Card "Mischief of the Time Goddess": the Duel seems to skip towards another Battle Phase for Zigfried, who then attacks again.
  • Seto however, counters Zigfried's second attack by activating Trap Card "Magical Trick Mirror": he selects "Mischief of the Time Goddess" in Zigfried's Graveyard and activates it. It somehow permits Seto to stop Zigfried's current attack dead in its tracks, and go directly to his next turn (which Phase is unclear, at least initially).
  • The exact effects of "Mischief of the Time Goddess", as well as the subtleties of its application, aren't fully explained:
    • In the English Dub, Zigfried quotes: "Mischief of the Time Goddess" allows me to skip your turn, then I can pick off where I left off (...)".
    • In the original Japanese, Zigfried reads the exact text of the card instead: "Skip 1 turn. My turn to Battle Phase".
    • It is believed the card's text should be something along the lines of: "Immediately end current turn: its remaining Phases, including the End Phase, are skipped. Go directly to the Battle Phase of your next turn". A full discussion on how this conclusion was reached can be found in the "Mischief of the Time Goddess" DISCUSSION Page.
