Brother's Bond is the twenty-sixth chapter of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga. It was first printed in Japanese in the V Jump magazine and in English in the Shonen Jump magazine. Both of which were printed in volume 3 of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX graphic novels afterwards.
Plot
Syrus Truesdale's duel against Chazz Princeton continues as the newly summoned "Light and Darkness Dragon" allows the latter to make a comeback, but Zane Truesdale remains confident that Syrus will destroy the dragon. Elsewhere, the shadow curses his fortune, realizing that the spirit is indeed the Feather of Ma'at, a relic left behind by the priests that could present a threat.
Syrus manages to destroy "Light and Darkness Dragon", impressing even David Rabb. However, Chazz summons "Dark End Dragon", destroying "Solidroid β" and forcing Syrus into a desperate situation. Zane thinks back to when Syrus lost a game that he otherwise would have won so that he would not hurt his friend's feelings. He noted that back then, Syrus "want[ed] to be a duelist" without being willing to do what it took, but that he has changed at the academy.
Syrus ultimately loses the duel as a result of "Light End Dragon's" abilities, but promises to become good enough to face Zane. Zane asks him if he likes to duel, and Syrus says that he wants to fight duels as one. Zane acknowledges Syrus as a worthy duelist, and hopes that he will one day stand before him.
Duel
Duel continues from the the previous chapter.
- Chazz (1400 LP) destroys "Solidroid α" with "Light and Darkness Dragon" (2800 ATK)
- Syrus (2700 LP) removes "Stealthroid", "Turboroid" and "Strikeroid" from the game to summon Solidroid β" (2500 ATK). The summoning would enable him to destroy "Light and Darkness Dragon", but Chazz negates the effect, reducing its ATK to 2300, and allowing Syrus to destroy it, inflicting 200 damage on him.
- Chazz (1200 LP) draws "Guidance of Light and Dark", and plays it face-down. He summons "Red Wyrm" in Defense Position. (1600 DEF).
- Syrus (2700 LP) uses "Stop Defense" to force "Red Wyrm" into Attack Position (1700 ATK). He attacks it with "Solidroid β" and destroys it, reducing Chazz's LP to 400, but takes 500 damage from Red Wyrm's" effect.
- Chazz (400 LP) activates "Guidance of Light and Dark" to summon "Dark End Dragon" (2600 ATK). He sacrifices 500 of its attack points to send "Solidroid β" to the graveyard, but Syrus activates "Negate Attack". Chazz Sets a card.
- Syrus (2200 LP) plays "Dimension Fusion", sacrificing 2000 LP to summon monsters that have been removed from the game, and returns "Strikeroid" (1600 ATK), "Stealthroid" (400 ATK) and "Turboroid" (1400 ATK), and unites them to form Solidroid γ". He tries to destroy Chazz's face-down cards with Gamma's ability, but Chazz uses "Duality", tributing "Dark End Dragon" to summon "Light End Dragon" (2600 ATK). Syrus attacks with "Solidroid γ" , but Chazz uses "Light End's effect, reducing it's attack by 500 to reduce Gamma's attack by 1500. Syrus takes 900 points of damage and loses the duel.
