Summary
Yugi manages to destroy Ghost Kaiba's "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". But Ghost Kaiba promptly plays another "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". Ghost Kaiba laughs, reminding Yugi that there are only three "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" cards in existence, and they're all in his Deck. Yugi's Grandpa had the fourth, but Ghost Kaiba says that he ripped it up. Ghost Kaiba asks how could he know that if he weren't really Seto Kaiba? He couldn't believe it when Yugi beat all three of his "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" with Exodia, but without Exodia, there's no way Yugi can win.

Meanwhile, the real Kaiba is still in his secret underground computer room. His computer tells him it's rerouting the data from Arena 146 so they can confirm whether Yugi is dueling there. Kaiba's sure he is. The computer says the most interesting thing is the name of Yugi's opponent, Seto Kaiba. Kaiba can't believe it, but the computer assures him it's true, and the opponent is using Kaiba's Deck. Kaiba says that Pegasus must have taken his Deck. The computer goes on to tell him that the duelists are tied, but the impostor has his second "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" on the field, after Yugi destroyed the first one with Dark Magician and Magical Hats. Yugi currently has no cards in play, and it's his move.
+
The fake ghost of Seto Kaiba has just attacked with his "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", targeting one of Yugi's "Magical Hats". If the attack hits the "Dark Magician" contained within the "Hats", Yugi will have no monsters left. However, the attack of "Blue-Eyes" destroys the rightmost "Hat", which is revealed to be empty, and "Dark Magician" survives. On Yugi's turn, he Sets a card face-down, which conceals itself within one of the remaining "Hats". Yugi reveals that the card he played is a Trap Card, and if Ghost Seto attacks the wrong "Hat", then there will be a surprise waiting for him.

Kaiba says that without Exodia, Yugi can't win against the "Blue-Eyes White Dragons". He has no other cards in his Deck strong enough to stand up against the Blue-Eyes, let alone two of them. Yugi will lose on his next turn unless Kaiba can decrease the Blue-Eyes' power from there. (Japanese, Kaiba is astonished that Yugi managed to destroy one of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" without Exodia. But he sees that Yugi's in a jam now.) He plans to upload a virus into the Blue-Eyes' holocomputer to weaken it. The computer wants to know if they shouldn't wait to see Yugi's next move, but Kaiba says they can't afford to risk Yugi losing the Duel, and orders the viral injection upload.
+
Ghost Seto orders "Blue-Eyes" to attack the middle "Hat". Yugi calls it a nice choice, and reveals that under the "Hat" that Ghost Seto attacked was Yugi's Trap, "Spellbinding Circle". It activates, reducing the ATK of "Blue-Eyes" by 700 and making it unable to change its battle position. Yugi orders his "Dark Magician" to attack "Blue-Eyes". It emerges from the right hat and destroys "Blue-Eyes" with a magic attack. Ghost Seto's Life Points fall to 500.

Back at the duel, Yugi thinks that he doesn't have any monsters that can stand up to the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. This could be it. Ghost Kaiba tells him this duel is over. He still has "Defense Paralysis" active, so whatever monster Yugi plays won't be able to defend itself. Yugi plays "Feral Imp" in Attack Position.
+
Before Mokuba can even finish celebrating, another "Blue-Eyes" appears on the field, which attacks and destroys "Dark Magician" with an energy blast. Ghost Seto asks if Yugi forgot that his Deck contains three "Blue-Eyes White Dragons", and says that being afraid of Ghost Seto is causing Yugi to make careless mistakes. (In the dub, he reiterates that there's no way Yugi could beat three "Blue-Eyes" without the power of his lost "Exodia".

The real Kaiba, watching the duel on screen, wishes Yugi had waited a few more seconds before making his move. He asks the computer if it can't get that virus uploaded any faster. The computer tells him they're already halfway there—this is as fast as it goes. The viral implant is at sixty percent, but it doesn't seem to be working, the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon's" ATK is still at 3000. Kaiba worries that something is wrong.
+
Meanwhile, the real Seto Kaiba is still back at his hideout alongside his virtual computer. Despite a warning being given that detects Seto's intrusion, he is still able to access Duel Arena #146, where Yugi is Dueling. He accesses the data of the active Duel, which to his shock has the Duelists listed as Yugi Muto and Seto Kaiba. Seto is disgusted that someone else is using his Deck. The computer informs Seto of the Duel's status, and although he is impressed that Yugi took down a "Blue-Eyes" without "Exodia", he sees that Yugi is backed into a corner with no more cards that can defeat a "Blue-Eyes", let alone two. Seto tells the computer to upload a virus into the "Blue-Eyes" on the field, which will decrease its ATK points.

Ghost Kaiba laughs, saying this is almost too easy. Téa tells Yugi to hang on, and Tristan says Yugi can still win, and Joey reminds everyone that Yugi beat Kaiba last time. Ghost Kaiba orders the Blue-Eyes to attack, but the dragon doesn't move. The virus has finally started to take effect.
+
Back at the Duel Arena, Yugi thinks that nothing in his hand can defeat a "Blue-Eyes". Furthermore, with Ghost Seto having "Defense Paralysis" on the field, Yugi isn't able to Summon monsters in Defense Position to stall for time, either. Resigned, Yugi Summons his "Feral Imp" in Attack Position - but with only 1300 ATK, it will have no hope of surviving an attack from a "Blue-Eyes". Back in the hideout, Seto's virus is taking a long time to upload, and he yells at his computer to hurry up. (In the dub, he wishes that Yugi took a little longer to make his move.)

Kaiba watches the Blue-Eyes' attack points drain away, down to 2900, then to 2800, but it's still too strong. It has to get weaker, or it will still beat Yugi.
+
Ghost Seto orders "Blue-Eyes" to attack "Feral Imp", which would win him the Duel. Suddenly, light beams start emerging from "Blue-Eyes" and its body begins glitching. Back at the hideout, Seto sees that the ATK of "Blue-Eyes" is finally starting to drop. Ghost Seto calls to "Blue-Eyes", asking what's wrong, as its body begins melting away. In the dining room of Pegasus Castle, Pegasus tells Croquet to contact the central control room, and adds that there's only one possible explanation for this - the real Seto Kaiba is alive.

Yugi and Ghost Kaiba also watch the Blue-Eyes' attack go down, wondering what's going on. The dragon begins to melt, its hologram breaking up, and the gang also watch in astonishment. Kemo contacts Pegasus on his radio to tell him they've got a real problem. (Japanese, Saruwatari just wonders what's going on.)
+
In the hideout, Seto sees that his virus implant was successful - the ATK of "Blue-Eyes" is at 2300 and still falling. He tells his computer to begin work on injecting a virus into the third "Blue-Eyes", when suddenly the computer freezes up and informs him that the ATK of "Blue-Eyes" has stopped decreasing. Several pictures of Funny Bunny fill up the frozen screen and Seto curses Pegasus, who laughs and sips his wine. At the same time, several goons burst into Seto's mansion.

Pegasus is in his dining hall, watching the duel on the computer screen. Croquet asks how Yugi did that, but Pegasus says it wasn't Yugi, it was Seto Kaiba. It seems, he says, that the real Seto Kaiba is still very much alive.
+
The computer unfreezes and informs Seto that the ATK of "Blue-Eyes" is still at 2000 and is no longer dropping - and it's launching its "Burst Stream" attack. With both Yugi and Seto out of options, Seto slams his fists on the table in despair and calls out Yugi's name. Back at the Duel Arena, Yugi hears Seto's cry in his head just before the "Burst Stream" hits him. As it's about to engulf Yugi, the attack suddenly fizzles out. The last of the body of the "Blue-Eyes" melts away, and then it is destroyed. Ghost Seto is stunned, while Mokuba and the gang cheer. Seto asks the computer to analyze why "Blue-Eyes" was destroyed, but the computer says it cannot. Seto says that there can only be one explanation - the Heart of the Cards. Suddenly, he hears beeping from the security system behind him.

Kaiba tells his computer to get ready to go to work on dragon number three. But just then, his screen starts to break up. The computer says they've been locked out by a remote terminal—looks like they've been hacked! Then Pegasus' cartoon rabbit appears on the screen, saying, "Hey, Kaiba!" Kaiba realizes it's Pegasus.
+
Back at the Arena, Yugi tells an enraged Ghost Seto that the only explanation for this is that the real Seto is still alive. Mokuba celebrates and tells a confused Téa that the only person who could have destroyed "Blue-Eyes" is Seto, meaning that Seto is still alive. Yugi implores the fake to reveal his real identity now that his charade is over. The fake's disguise bursts off of his body and he is revealed to be the clown-like Impersonator of Death. He tells Yugi that he was sent by Industrial Illusions and it's time for them to have some fun. (In the dub, he keeps up the charade, claiming that he is Seto's evil side brought back from the Shadow Realm by Pegasus.)

Back at Pegasus' castle, Pegasus laughs and sips his drink, while his goons move in on Kaiba's mansion, breaking in the front door.
+
Meanwhile, five goons burst into Seto's hideout, but they see nothing but a couple of static-filled screens. Croquet tells Pegasus of this news, but Pegasus tells him to leave Seto alone and watch how the rest of this Duel plays out. (In the dub, Pegasus radios Kemo at the Duel Arena and tells him to not let Mokuba get away, no matter what.)

The Blue-Eyes White Dragon's attack strength holds at 2000. Kaiba protests that this should have worked, as the computer tells him that it's launching its attack.
+
Kemo thinks that despite the Impersonator still being found out, his Deck still contains one more "Blue-Eyes". The Impersonator thinks this too, and that if he draws it, there's no way Yugi will be able to pull off another miracle. He Summons his "Grappler" in Defense Position. Yugi thinks that the Impersonator is just stalling until he can draw his final "Blue-Eyes", and that if that happens, Yugi will lose. Yugi Sets a card and Summons his "Celtic Guardian" in Attack Position, which attacks and destroys "Grappler". The Impersonator keeps stalling, Setting a card and Summoning "Mystic Horseman" in Defense Position. Yugi next Sets another card, then Summons "Mystical Elf" and comboes it with "Book of Secret Arts" to increase its ATK to 1100 before ending his turn. The Impersonator thinks that he strengthened "Mystical Elf" to survive the attack of "Mystic Horseman", but thinks it'll all be pointless if he can draw his final "Blue-Eyes".

Ghost Kaiba tells his dragon it's time to obliterate them, and the gang all watch in horror. A frustrated Kaiba calls out Yugi's name, and Yugi hears him.
+
The Impersonator triumphantly reveals that his next card is the third "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". He Summons it in Attack Position. Mokuba thinks that it's fine, because Seto can help Yugi again, but Kemo says that since "Blue-Eyes" isn't deteriorating this time, Yugi has no help left. The Impersonator orders "Blue-Eyes" to attack with "Burst Stream of Destruction", but Yugi activates his Set "Mirror Force", which would destroy "Blue-Eyes" and win Yugi the Duel, but the Impersonator activates "Negate Attack" to cancel the attack of "Blue-Eyes".

The attack stops, and the dragon disintegrates. The Blue-Eyes has heard its real master's call, and destroyed itself. Kaiba's computer tells him that the dragon is destroyed, but the virus wasn't responsible. Then how? Kaiba asks. Did Yugi somehow do this? The computer asks, How could he? It's Kaiba's deck. Kaiba says, it's the "heart of the cards." Yugi was right. Then he notices his door lock being activated. Pegasus' goons are about to break in.
+
Now on Yugi's turn, he declares that he still has his trump card left. He activates "Monster Reborn" to bring back "Blue-Eyes", with Yugi declaring that it isn't the Impersonator's card that he's bringing back, it's Seto's. The Impersonator says that Yugi's move is futile and that he's aiming for mutual destruction, but Yugi says that isn't the case - his "Mystical Elf" has been chanting a magic spell ever since it appeared on the field which allows it to transfer its ATK to another monster. Yugi says that this move was inspired by Seto - who showed him that you can alter the attack power of a "Blue-Eyes". Yugi's "Blue-Eyes" powers up to 4100 ATK, and Yugi attacks the Impersonator's "Blue-Eyes" with "Holy Burst Stream", destroying it and reducing the Impersonator's Life Points to 0.

Ghost Kaiba goes mental, asking why him? Yugi tells him that Kaiba's still alive, and he stopped the impostor. Ghost Kaiba continues to insist that he's Kaiba, while Mokuba celebrates that his brother is alive. Téa asks what's going on, and Mokuba explains that the last time they dueled, Yugi showed his brother the heart of the cards. This faker may have taken his Deck, but the real Seto Kaiba is alive and well. (Japanese, Mokuba says that his brother is the only one who can stop the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. That was his brother. His brother isn't dead.)
+
Yugi declares that he will never forgive the Impersonator for disrespecting Seto's deck and playing with people's hearts. A glowing eye appears on Yugi's forehead, and he Mind Crushes the Impersonator. Still glowing, he tells Pegasus that he knows that he's listening, that his disrespect towards Seto will not be tolerated, and that Pegasus had better be ready. Pegasus' wine glass shatters in his hands, and he says that Yugi has developed strong shadow powers in a very short time - and that makes Pegasus even more excited to defeat Yugi with his own hands. (In the dub, he says that Yugi's Millennium Puzzle will be his.)

Yugi tells Ghost Kaiba that the real Seto Kaiba destroyed that monster. Yugi knows because he sensed Kaiba calling out to him when it happened. (Japanese, Yugi says it's proven that Kaiba is alive. Now he can concentrate on the Duel. Then he tells the Ghost that he should reveal himself. Yugi doesn't want to continue dueling with him as he is.) The Ghost Kaiba reveals its true form, (the Mimic of Doom although unnamed in the English anime, he is called the Death Imitator in the Japanese version) as a monstrous clown, and tells them he's the evil part of Kaiba that was banished to the Shadow Realm by Yugi, brought back by Pegasus. (The Japanese, the Death Imitator says he prefers looking like this. He was sent by Industrial Illusions to take on the identity of a dead person. Then he asks Yugi to Duel with him. The flashback of Yugi Mind Crushing Kaiba from their first Duel is added in the English version.)
+
Back at the Duel Arena, Yugi takes Seto's deck. However, Téa soon realizes that Mokuba is gone again, and Kemo must have taken him away.

Mokuba says the creature's not a part of his brother any more, and the gang shudder in horror at its grotesqueness. Joey says he'd thought that the Duel might turn ugly, but not that ugly. (Japanese, Jounouchi tells Yugi not to worry about it, just beat him!)

Pegasus's goons storm Kaiba's computer room, but they're too late, Kaiba's already gone. (The goons' guns are removed from the English version.) Croquet orders them to search the grounds, while Pegasus muses that this is one twist even he didn't foresee. (Japanese, Pegasus says he can't believe the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" would be dismissed. Good for Yugi, luck is part of his ability.) Croquet then reports the bad news to Pegasus that they've lost the real Kaiba again, and Pegasus mutters that that's two escapes, must he lock Croquet away? Again? (Japanese Pegasus, however, is pretty blasé about the whole thing, just saying, "No problem," and that they should just watch the rest of the Duel.) He tells Croquet to get Kemo on the radio.
+
Yugi has 1000 LP remaining and controls 4 "Hats" created by the effect of "Magical Hats", under which is hidden "Dark Magician" (2500/2100) in Attack Position, and no Set cards.<br />
 +
Fake Kaiba has 700 LP remaining and controls "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (3000/2500) in Attack Position, "Defense Paralysis" and no Set cards.

Mokuba taunts the clown, telling him he'd better start worrying about what his brother's going to do to him when he catches up with him. (Japanese, Mokuba tells the clown that those cards are his brother's, and no one else can use them.) Kemo gets a message from Pegasus telling him that Kaiba's gotten away, and not to lose the little one, no matter what. (Japanese Kemo doesn't get any message. He thinks, Yugi survived that obstacle, but Kaiba still has one more Blue-Eyes White Dragon.)
+
<u>Turn 7: Fake Kaiba</u><br />
 +
"Blue-Eyes White Dragon" has just attacked a "Hat", which is destroyed and revealed to be empty.

Yugi says he doesn't know what to call his opponent now. He was thinking of "monster," but he doesn't want to insult the cards. Then he tells his opponent it's his move. He's got a whole Deck to go through, and only one Blue-Eyes left. (Japanese, Yugi tells the clown he hasn't got any monsters on the field. Go ahead and summon one. The clown thinks he still has another Blue-Eyes. Yugi won't get another miracle.)
+
<u>Turn 8: Yami Yugi</u><br />
 +
Yugi Sets a card in one of the remaining "Hats".

They continue to Duel. (In the Japanese, the Imitator suddenly appears as Pegasus, telling Yugi he's going to get it now.) The Mimic tells Yugi it will soon be all over. Joey says he's liking the look on that guy's face even less than he did before. Téa tells Yugi to wipe that smile off the Mimic's face, and Mokuba calls the Mimic a loser. Finally, the Mimic draws and it's the third Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Mokuba says not to worry—his brother will help out again. But Kemo knows Kaiba's no longer at his computer. He tells the gang to look at the Blue-Eyes—its attack strength is the full 3000. He says they found Kaiba's hiding place, and now he's on the run. Tristan says does that mean Kaiba is alive? Kemo says that means don't expect another miracle—this Duel's about to end.
+
<u>Turn 9: Fake Kaiba</u><br />
 +
"Blue-Eyes White Dragon" attacks and destroys a "Hat". The destroyed hat is revealed to contain "Spellbinding Circle", which is then activated, reducing the ATK of "Blue-Eyes" by 700 ("Blue-Eyes White Dragon": 3000 → 2300/2500) and forbidding it from attacking or changing its battle position.

Mokuba thinks it's all over, but Yugi laughs, saying it's time to finish this Duel. He plays "Monster Reborn" on "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". The Mimic says that won't do Yugi any good, the two Blue-Eyes are evenly matched. But Yugi says their powers are not the same. He's still got "Mystical Elf", who is chanting a spell that allows her to transfer her ATK to any monster he chooses. Yugi says this move was inspired by Seto Kaiba himself, who showed him that you can alter the power of a "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". But he's raising his to 4100 rather than lowering it, as Kaiba did to the Mimic's. "Consider this a message from the real Seto Kaiba," Yugi says. "You lose!"
+
<u>Turn 10: Yami Yugi</u><br />
 +
Yugi releases his "Dark Magician" from the hat it was hiding in. "Dark Magician" attacks and destroys "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (Fake Kaiba: 700 → 500 LP). After that is done, "Spellbinding Circle" is destroyed due to its last effect.

Yugi's Blue-Eyes destroys the Ghost's Blue-Eyes, winning the Duel. Then Yugi uses his Mind Crush on the Ghost, sending it back to the Shadow Realm.
+
<u>Turn 11: Fake Kaiba</u><br />
 +
Fake Kaiba Normal Summons another "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (3000/2500) in Attack Position. "Blue-Eyes" attacks and destroys "Dark Magician" (Yugi: 1000 → 500 LP).

Yugi issues a warning to Pegasus, who he knows is watching. "Nothing will stop me," he says. "I'm coming for you, Pegasus!" Pegasus' wine glass shatters in his hand. Pegasus chuckles grimly, saying that Yugi has developed his Shadow powers quite a bit in such a short time. But when they finally Duel, Yugi's Millennium Puzzle will be his.
+
<u>Turn 12: Yami Yugi</u><br />
 +
Yugi draws. He then Normal Summons "Feral Imp" (1300/1400) in Attack Position.

Yugi retrieves Kaiba's Deck from the Mimic's side of the arena, while Tristan claims he knew the real Kaiba was alive the whole time. They wonder where Mokuba is. Kemo has taken off with him.
+
<u>Turn 13: Fake Kaiba</u><br />
 +
At this point, the real Seto Kaiba uploads a virus into the programming of "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in order to steadily decrease its ATK. "Blue-Eyes" attacks "Feral Imp". The real Kaiba is about to work on the third "Blue-Eyes" when Pegasus intervenes, destroying the virus and leaving the second "Blue-Eyes" with only 1000 less ATK ("Blue-Eyes White Dragon": 3000 → 2000/2500). When Fake Kaiba orders "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" to attack, the real Seto Kaiba calls out to Yami Yugi, which he detects. "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" hears it too, and it stops its attack and destroys itself because of the "Heart of the Cards", and because the person using it was not its real owner. At this point, Fake Kaiba reveals his true form, the Impersonator of Death.

* "Give up the ghost" is an idiom that basically means "to accept death". The use of this idiom as the episode's dub title is a reflection (in the dub) of how the Impersonator of Death, a shadow of Kaiba's dark side that was still able to Duel, was ultimately sent back to the Shadow Realm by Yugi.

"Give up the Ghost", known as "Blue-Eyes White Dragon's Counterattack" in the Japanese version, is the tenth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! second series anime. It first aired in Japan on June 20, 2000 and in the United States on December 1, 2001.

Yugi continues to Duel the Seto Kaiba impostor. Defeating all three of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" cards proves difficult. Will the real Kaiba reach Yugi in time to help beat this impersonator?

Summary

Back at the Duel Arena, Yugi takes Seto's deck. However, Téa soon realizes that Mokuba is gone again, and Kemo must have taken him away.

Featured Duel: Yami Yugi vs. Fake Kaiba/Impersonator of Death

Duel continues from the previous episode.

Yugi has 1000 LP remaining and controls 4 "Hats" created by the effect of "Magical Hats", under which is hidden "Dark Magician" (2500/2100) in Attack Position, and no Set cards.
Fake Kaiba has 700 LP remaining and controls "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (3000/2500) in Attack Position, "Defense Paralysis" and no Set cards.

Turn 7: Fake Kaiba
"Blue-Eyes White Dragon" has just attacked a "Hat", which is destroyed and revealed to be empty.

Turn 8: Yami Yugi
Yugi Sets a card in one of the remaining "Hats".

Turn 9: Fake Kaiba
"Blue-Eyes White Dragon" attacks and destroys a "Hat". The destroyed hat is revealed to contain "Spellbinding Circle", which is then activated, reducing the ATK of "Blue-Eyes" by 700 ("Blue-Eyes White Dragon": 3000 → 2300/2500) and forbidding it from attacking or changing its battle position.

Turn 10: Yami Yugi
Yugi releases his "Dark Magician" from the hat it was hiding in. "Dark Magician" attacks and destroys "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (Fake Kaiba: 700 → 500 LP). After that is done, "Spellbinding Circle" is destroyed due to its last effect.

Turn 11: Fake Kaiba
Fake Kaiba Normal Summons another "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (3000/2500) in Attack Position. "Blue-Eyes" attacks and destroys "Dark Magician" (Yugi: 1000 → 500 LP).

Turn 12: Yami Yugi
Yugi draws. He then Normal Summons "Feral Imp" (1300/1400) in Attack Position.

Turn 13: Fake Kaiba

Turn 14: Yami Yugi
Yugi passes.

Turn 15: Impersonator of Death
The Impersonator of Death draws "Grappler" and subsequently Normal Summons it (1300/1200) in Defense Position.

Turn 16: Yami Yugi
Yugi draws "Celtic Guardian". He then Sets a card and Normal Summons "Celtic Guardian" (1400/1200) in Attack Position. "Celtic Guardian" attacks and destroys "Grappler".

Turn 17: Impersonator of Death
The Impersonator of Death Sets "Mystic Horseman" and another card.

Turn 18: Yami Yugi
Yugi Sets a card and Normal Summons "Mystical Elf" (800/2000) in Attack Position. Yugi then activates "Book of Secret Arts", equipping it to "Mystical Elf" and increasing its ATK and DEF by 300 ("Mystical Elf": 800 → 1100/2000 → 2300).

Turn 19: Impersonator of Death
TheImpersonator of Death draws his last "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and subsequently Normal Summons it (3000/2500) in Attack Position. "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" attacks "Mystical Elf", but Yami Yugi activates his face-down "Mirror Force" to reflect the attack back at "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", however the impersonator activates his face-down "Negate Attack" to negate the attack and save "Blue-Eyes White Dragon".

Turn 20: Yami Yugi
Yugi activates his face-down "Monster Reborn" to Special Summon "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (3000/2500) from the impersonator's Graveyard to his side of the field in Attack Position. He then activates the effect of "Mystical Elf" to add her ATK to "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" ("Blue-Eyes White Dragon": 3000 → 4100/2500). Yugi's "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" attacks and destroys the impersonator's "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (Impersonator of Death: 500 → 000 LP).

At this point in the duel, the effect of "Magical Hats" should already have expired, and Yugi has yet to summon the "Feral Imp".

Trivia

 • Despite "Mystic Horseman" being played in the Duel, it doesn't make an appearance at all.
 • "Give up the ghost" is an idiom that basically means "to accept death". The use of this idiom as the episode's dub title is a reflection (in the dub) of how the Impersonator of Death, a shadow of Kaiba's dark side that was still able to Duel, was ultimately sent back to the Shadow Realm by Yugi.
 • In the dub, after "Grappler" is destroyed, the Impersonator of Death said, "Parting is such sweet sorrow", which is a reference to Romeo and Juliet. This is also a pun, as "Grappler" had literally been parted in two.
