Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - Episode 180

I've completed the summary for episode 180 and added the featured cards section in my subpage. Could you copy it into the article? It's still locked, so normal users can't edit it. Assuming you have no problems with the changes I made, please edit them in. Thanks. Cheesedude 04:46, May 20, 2010 (UTC)

Alright then, I've made the edit. Thanks. Cheesedude 17:21, May 20, 2010 (UTC)

Unreachable redirect

Hey Deltaneos, in the course of my cleanup work with old redirects, I came across Set Card Lists:Duel Master's Guide Promo (TCG-EN), which at first appearance is a redlink. However, it is listed on Special:PrefixIndex/Set as a redirect (and, indeed, is the first redirect listed there). Furthermore, even though the page itself has no history or deleted history, and no logs save for my moving Set Card Lists:Duel Master's Guide (TCG-EN) back after trying to fix the problem by moving it over the redlink "redirect", it quite clearly shows up as a move target on the actual list's page history, when TwoTailedFox moved Set Card List:Duel Master's Guide Promo (TCG-EN) to Set Card Lists:Duel Master's Guide Promo (TCG-EN) and then promptly to its present title on March 30, 2008. On further reflection, the only conclusion I can come to is that TTF's pagemove occurred before Set Card Lists: was made an actual redirect, and the redirect from the first page move was left untouched when all articles were moved away from titles starting with "Set Card Lists:" in preparation for the namespace's creation (this is really only speculation, since I don't know exactly when this ns was created). This resulted in the redirect "Set Card List:Duel Master's Guide Promo (TCG-EN)", being in the main namespace, getting "covered up" by the redlink "Set Card List:Duel Master's Guide Promo (TCG-EN)", being in the "Set Card List:" namespace - thus an unreachable title was created. If this is indeed the case, any other mainspace redirects with a prefix identical to one of the custom namespaces would also be unreachable, as would the deleted history and logs of any such mainspace title with such history or logs. I'm not sure what, if anything, should be done for deleted history or logs, but for the redirect(s), if it/they are enough bother, developer attention (i.e. direct database access) will be necessary for resolution. I'm telling you mostly in the hope that you could fill in some details on the history of the creation of the custom namespaces (and perhaps point me to relevant discussion) and because you are probably better acquainted with the devs that hang around here than I, in the event you want to consult with them on this matter. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 02:44, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Ah yes, you're right, this problem frequently happens with namespace additions. The redirect "Set Card Lists:Duel Master's Guide Promo (TCG-EN)" exists as a mainspace title, while we can only look at the "Set Card Lists" namespace version.
That custom namespace was added on the 14th April 2008, I think. KyleH seems to have temporarily moved all "Set Card Lists" out of the way before installing the namespace to avoid problems like this. He must have missed this one.
Wikia staff have the access needed to remove it. e.g. Uberfuzzy got rid of the Property:ATK in the mainspace, while logs for the title only show the Property namespace version.
Poking staff to delete the title shouldn't be too troublesome. As for fixing logs and history, I don't think there's anything important there. I think it can be fixed by having mainspace pages starting with "Set Card Lists" transferred to the namespace, like when we got our first set of custom namespaces. (Card Rulings, Card Tips, etc.) (That may cause problems if there are pages with the same title.) But yeah, the logs and deleted history aren't so important and probably not worth fixing.
If you want to ask staff to have the problem fixed, you can ask them at Special:Contact. If you'd rather I do it, let me know if there are any more titles with this problem and I'll contact them. Thanks. -- Deltaneos (talk) 09:58, May 24, 2010 (UTC)
Ahh, nice to see my suspicions are correct. =) If fixing logs and deleted history is trivial, I don't see any reason not to do it, but I'm not worried if it's any bother. As for the redirect in question, I'd prefer to wait until I've worked through more redirects and pages and I'm sure that there are no more pages like this, or I've got them all listed. In the meantime, I'll start a list of such titles on my userpage. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 17:09, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

Bandai/DDM set galleries?

Currently, Bandai and DDM set galleries have the prefix "Set Gallery:". Should these be left alone, moved to "Set Galleries:", or just taken all the way and moved to "Set Card Galleries:"? Also, while I have your ear, should anything be done with Set Figure Gallery:Yu-Gi-Oh! Tablet Monsters? ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 03:19, May 25, 2010 (UTC)

Move the Bandai and DDM the whole way to "Set Card Galleries". As for figures, is the problem that the prefix is singular, not a namespace or both? -- Deltaneos (talk) 03:26, May 25, 2010 (UTC)
Got it, thanks for the speedy reply. No problem with figures list really; just curious if there's maybe anything in particular I should do with it. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 04:23, May 25, 2010 (UTC)

Categories in Template:CardTable2

You read my mind! =O The only thing that had kept me from doing basically that was the fact that I don't have much of a grasp of how the template determines what game it's displaying a card for; other than that, though, I would have added general categories just like you did (this is actually one of the reasons I created the template's sandbox for).

There are two other nontrivial changes I'd like to do to {{CardTable2}} as well: First, I think it'd be far better for code complexity, template size, and editor sanity to resplit the template into individual subtemplates for each game (but very likely no further than that), and second, I've been wanting to add error categorization to the template for some time now (splitting by game would help with this, too). Since I've gone and spilled the beans, any thoughts on these? =) ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 01:43, May 26, 2010 (UTC)

I've no problems with splitting into subtemplates. Error categories as in categories that report missing/broken details? -- Deltaneos (talk) 02:08, May 26, 2010 (UTC)

Don't worry about length; discussion of details can come later (tomorrow, or whenever, I'm in no rush). =) And yeah, error categories as in categories that report missing/broken (and also just incorrect) details, similar to the categories for {{Navigation}}, {{Forumheader}}, and {{Approximate name}}. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 02:41, May 26, 2010 (UTC)

ArchetypeNavboxes

How does one go about finding the pages for them. I've been trying to find the navbox template for Sealed Beasts to add the chapter 54 cards, but plain haven't been able to. Template:CrystalBeast exist, and I would think there the page for Sealed Beast would be at Template:SealedBeast, but it isn't. So what gives? Cheesedude 20:53, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

Ah, ok. Do the navboxes that do have template pages predate that system? Cheesedude 22:23, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
Would a card that has the archetype name in it's card name, but does not specifically mention said archetype in it's lore count as archsupport or archrelated? I've been adding cards with "Hell" in their Japanese name to the "Chthonian" archetype, and am unsure what to classify "Inferno Reckless Summon" and some other cards under. Cheesedude 16:44, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
True enough. The page does exist, so I figured I'd try to make it consistent, but if you'd like me to revert my edits, that's fine. The "archrelated" parameter is particular vexing. Should any card that features "Gagagigo" be classified under ? I would think not, but that seems to be the case. Well, thanks. Cheesedude 18:30, June 3, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, it's very confusing. That being said, I'll just try to use my better judgment here, I suppose. Thanks. Cheesedude 18:53, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

Re:Image Uploads

Yeah, I found that many of the articles had a lack of pictures, so I decided to take some on my own (though it does take a long time). As soon as I get to it, I'll add them to the episode they belong to. For most of the images, I put which episodes they do belong to and a short summary. Though, there might be a small problem with that. I'm not sure exactly how to change the size of the images (as most of them are too big to fit in the articles) and some of the articles needs more text. The 5Ds episodes are good, but some Yu-Gi-Oh and GX episodes have only a few sentences. I'll add the respective titles to the images from now on. Just wondering though, if two images have the same filename, (ex: Marik.jpg) would it be advisable to post it with a different filename or would the same one be fine?--Qim1 21:57, June 5, 2010 (UTC)

Alright then. One suggestion for your bot. On further edits of DM episodes, remove the parenthesis from the translated Japanese episode titles. Whoever original put them in left them there, and I believe they're a remnant as a result of being copied from the season listing, which had the Japanese titles in parenthesis below the English ones. Typo fixing and name changes

Hey Deltaneos, we can maintain a local typo list that AWB will use. Currently, it only uses one list (on Wikia, it defaults to Wikipedia's list if a given Wikia wiki doesn't have a local list), but a developer has said he'd add functionality to support loading from multiple lists. Regardless of that, though, we could set up a local typo list to update card, character, etc. names as official English names are confirmed. We could also maintain a list of typos specific to our wiki, like the seemingly endless possible permutations of "Yu-Gi-Oh!". I've got a pretty lengthy IRC chat log on the general subject from the discussion I had with the AWB developer; I already have his permission to post it and can do so if you want more info. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 23:59, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

Older names are distinct from typos. Typos can crop-up at any time and should be fixed every time they appear.
After a page is moved to match a name change, if you go through "what links here" and update the name on every page that linked to the old title, it's unlikely that the old title will be used again (except where it's supposed to).
The old titles are sometimes used in places that shouldn't be changed to the newest title. For example the "translated name" section in infoboxes and tables and the "known as X in the Japanese version" line at the start of character articles. English language video games sometimes give different names to cards that hadn't been released in English at the time, to the names that they end up getting when released in the TCG. So articles about a video game should use whatever name is used in that video game. Same with anime and manga.
Unlike typos, we're not going to be constantly on the lookout to update every name that's ever been changed and we won't want to change every instance of the old title. -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:50, June 9, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I understand all that. The typo list could still be useful for updating old names, though, especially since you can't run AWB in bot mode if typo correction is turned on. Besides that, the dev said he'd add support for multiple typo lists, and possibly even loading lists from custom URLs/local lists, sometime soon, meaning we could set up a list specifically for fixing old names, alongside a standard local typo list, if we wanted to. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 01:09, June 10, 2010 (UTC)

Proposal: Moving Egyptian God Pages

I think that most people searching for Obelisk and Ra are wanting the legal cards now, not the illegal God Card versions. I recommend moving Obelisk the Tormentor and The Winged Dragon of Ra to pages with (Egyptian God) tacked on. Also recommend that the Effect Monster versions be moved into the pages that were held by the God Cards before the above move. Failing that, simply making those pages disambiguation pages would be nice. (Slifer could probably be moved as well for consistency, although with no legal version, this isn't needed.) Card of Sanctity

Hey Deltaneos, I don't mean to bitch about something so not-actually-important, but is it possible we could do something about this?

I'm pretty sure the picture of the promo version of Card of sanctity is shopped. The promo version had the effect where both players draw until they have 6 cards, not the lame remove everything to draw 2 effect. Why does this site not acknowledge the existence of the original card?

Card Gallery:Card of Sanctity

A (legit) picture of the promo version is nearly impossible to find, but I swear the dang thing exists. I was thumbing through an old Yu-Gi-Oh! magazine and I saw it. Skullvarnish 05:06, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

First of all, my apologies to Pcouw. I was not aware there was a Promo version of Card of Sanctity with the remove everything to draw 2 effect. So, that's my bad.
Anyways, the magazine is Beckett Yu-gi-oh! Unofficial Collector. They've always seemed to be a very legit source; I haven't noticed any mistakes so far. I saw a picture of a promo version with the effect "Each player draws cards until they have 6 cards in their hand". I saw it in the Feb./Mar. 2005 issue where it was talking about how they gave out 100 copies through a special promotion. Then, it was pictured again in the Aug./Sept. 2005 issue in an article about the 20 most valuable cards at that time. This version of the card has the number "MOV-EN010". Unfortunately, I've not been able to find any other pictures of it. Now, I'm actually doubting its existence, but I still feel it's worth looking into. —This unsigned comment was made by Skullvarnish (talkcontribs) 03:47, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Just stumbled onto a (now over) edit war over [[1]]. Do you think it's notable? I've mulled over it a bit and was going to remove it but I didn't want another edit war >.> Toob (Leave a message) 17:13, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

Arcana Force

I recently created this page: Card Names:Arcana Force 0 - The Fool. I added some info i found regarding the word "arcana". I want to know if you are ok with it. If you are, should I add it to all the arcana monsters' card names pages? Plus, am I allowed to add the source of the info? --Montechristo95 11:08, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

Dinoguy1000 added links to this site. Is it ok or should i create another link? Btw do you really believe I should put it on the trivia page? --Montechristo95 20:57, June 15, 2010 (UTC)
Ok, in that case i'm gonna remove it from the card names page and add it to the main article. Thanks for the help! --Montechristo95 21:22, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

Model Kits

Should this be deleted? It's not spam, but it has no sources and contains lots of conjecture. Not to mention mediocre grammar. I'd have listed it for deletion, but that could have triggered some flame/edit wars. So, I'm asking you - delete it or not? Thanks. --Darth Covah (Talk | DeckZone | Binder) 16:51, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

  • Okay. So, I guess we should move the page to the name "Yu-Gi-Oh! Deluxe Model Kit" (or is there another page renaming process?), then edit it so that it... makes more sense I guess. Thanks Deltaneos. --Darth Covah (Talk | DeckZone | Binder) 19:10, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

Also, I've basically finished looking for any pages left over from the custom namespace deployments; if there are any left at all, they're at very nonstandard page titles. In the process, I found 3 more unreachable titles, and I have emailed Wikia staff to delete them and also to see about fixing unviewable page logs/history. I can provide you a copy of my email if you'd like. Cheers! ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 20:20, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

Abuses to Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikia

There are a seemingly increasing amount of cases in which Unregistered Contributors create and edit pages with nonsensical titles or information respectively. I don't think that standard Wikia users and administrators should be responsible for reverting such edits and deleting such pages.Scizor99 02:17, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

Vandal

Special:Contributions/24.59.11.201. Can we please ban this guy for a week or something, he's a really annoying vandal. --Darth Covah (Talk | DeckZone | Binder) 12:17, June 16, 2010 (UTC)
