Dawn of the Duel Board, Part 1, known as Here Comes! The Super Elite Transfer Student in the Japanese version, is the seventy-seventh episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.
Lester transfers into the Duel Academy posing as a prestigious student. Leo becomes suspicious of him when he gets close to Luna and introduces the concept of Duel Boards.

Summary
The Second Tablet
The episode begins with Yusei and Akiza having a Turbo Duel as practice, while Leo and Luna are watching in the stands. Leo remarks how he wants to participate in duels but to his irritation, Luna simply laughs at him. Still Leo vows that one day, he will Turbo Duel against Yusei and Jack.
Meanwhile, Primo, Lester and Jacob observe them from what appears to be a throne-like command center. Lester mentions that because this is a duel between Signers, a part of the Infinity Circuit should lighten up, but doesn't.
Still Jacob is sure that the WRGP will be enough for doing this. However, Primo mentions that they should be wary of the Crimson Dragon, as that was what caused Goodwin's downfall. He says that he will defeat Yusei and take his "Stardust Dragon" to prevent the Crimson Dragon from being used, but Lester doubts that he can do it.
Their meeting is interrupted by a new tablet crashing in the outskirts of New Domino City. Yusei and co. try to investigate, only to discover that Sector Security has already arrived on the scene. Since Ghost showed up shortly after the first strike, Yusei becomes concerned about what may be in store.

The next day, Lester transfers into Leo and Luna's class at Duel Academy where he immediately becomes popular with his handsome looks and incredible duel skills. He becomes interested with Luna since she is a Signer, but Leo becomes suspicious (and also jealous) of him.

Lester attacks first, destroying Luna's "Bird of Roses". The impact sends her flying over the edge of the track, but Regulus appears and saves her. However, because of the duel, she suffers real damage and at the time her Mark of the Dragon also activates, making Yusei and the others aware of this event.
After this, Leo summons a monster, but Lester activates "Exus Summon" which swaps his monster with "Sky Core", then activates "Torrential Tribute" which destroys all monsters on the field.
He then activates "Sky Core's" effect to summon "Skiel Attack", "Skiel Carrier", "Skiel Guard" and "Skiel Top" and assembles them together to form "Machine Emperor Skiel Infinity".
Featured Duels
Luna draws and Normal Summons "Bird of Roses" (ATK: 1800) and ends her turn.
Lester Normal Summons "Absurd Stealer" (ATK: 100) and activates its effect to reduce the ATK of "Bird of Roses" to 0 and make its ATK "Bird of Roses's" DEF. Lester attacks "Bird of Roses" with "Absurd Stealer" (Luna: 2500 Life Points).
Luna then activates the effect of "Bird of Roses" allowing her to Special Summon 2 Plant Tuner Monsters from her Deck, she Special Summons "Nettles" (DEF: 400) and "Spore" (DEF: 800). Lester sets 3 cards in his Spell & Trap Card Zone and ends his turn.
Leo Normal Summons "Morphtronic Datatron" (ATK: 1200) and attacks "Absurd Stealer", but Lester activates "Exus Summon" allowing him to return "Absurd Stealer" back to his hand and summons "Sky Core" in its place (ATK: 0).
Lester then activates "Torrential Tribute", destroying all monsters on the field. Lester uses the effect of "Sky Core" to Special Summon "Machine Emperor Skiel Infinity" (ATK: 0), "Skiel Top" (ATK: 600), "Skiel Attack" (ATK: 1000), "Skiel Guard" (ATK: 200) and "Skiel Carrier" (ATK: 400).
Lester then uses the effect of "Machine Emperor Skiel Infinity" to increase it's ATK by the combined ATK of all Skiel monsters on the field (ATK: 2200).
Card creation contest
At the end of the credits, it was shown that "Bird of Roses" was chosen to become a card in the anime as a result of a drawing competition.
