"It's Tough Making an Anime" is the twenty-seventh episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime. It first aired in Japan on October 2, 2022.

Magical Sheep Girl Meeeg-chan's popularity has tanked because of Chupataro. In order to restore her image, Chupataro decides to make an anime about her. He starts producing the anime with the full cooperation of UTS. However, they immediately run into some very serious production issues...

Summary[edit]

At nighttime as a moon is sleeping, stuffed animals are seen lying on the floor inside a store. An evil mysterious figure declares that the most useless thing in the world is fur as it whacks a stuffed llama plushie away. The evil figure is shown to be a wold, who is holding a small sheep on its hand. The sheep is about to announce that the planet will be purged by the Barber Empire until it is interrupted by a silhouetted girl, who bursts through the door as she points out what a bad haircut the leader has. The silhouetted girl accuses the leader of robbing the world of fur as it reveals that she is Meeeg-chan. Meeeg-chan reminds the leader that even if it forgives her, she will not.

At the gates of MIK, Chupataro is thanking the prison guard, Energy Copyko, for freeing him. Now, he really wants to tell her something, but Yudias arrives with the Meeeg-chan doll and welcomes him back.

At UTS, Yudias and Chupataro cook meat skewers as Yagi thanks Yudias for taking him under his care. Yudias tells him that he and Chupataro are eternal comrades. Chupataro sadly admits to Yudias that he caused so much trouble working with Zuwijo and him as he looks at his Magical Sheep Girl Meeeg-chan card. In his thoughts, Chupataro wanted to see Meeeg-chan once and wanted to meet her with his whole heart, but he messed up her popularity as the flashback plays for what happened during the Duel. Chupataro says when he got out of prison, he decides to restore Meeeg-chan's image. Yagi asks him how is going to do that. Chupataro grins and gets an idea: he'll make an anime about Meeeg-chan! Chupataro explains to Yudias that if he makes an anime overflowing with charm and impresses everyone, they'll love Meeeg-chan again. Yuhi agrees that it sounds like fun and declares that it's time to go make an anime. Yuamu tells Chupataro they don't want people to think of us like they're the town's one-stop shop for everything. Chupataro informs her that he saved up a ton of change as to help support Meeeg-chan and he'll offer that and a reward for helping with his dream. Yuamu invites him inside the building and asks someone to bring tea while everyone else sweatdrops.

In the building, Arisugawa explains that the first thing to do while making an anime is to establish the direction of a project, so the team needs to find a station that will broadcast their work. Yuamu complements to Arisugawa that he knows a lot. Arisugawa informs her that he used to work as a production manager at an anime studio. Michael had a back spasm and he wasn't able to do his recording, so there was a hole in their program and Chupataro shouts that they managed to get a broadcast. Arisugawa informs him that the broadcast date is a week from now. Yuhi thinks it's easy-peasy, but Arisugawa explains that animation usually takes months to complete. Chupataro tells Yuhi and Arisugawa that they need to do it even if it's possible, but if they can't, Meeeg-chan's image will be damaged permanently. Yuamu wonders who's fault is that.

Next, the UTS members create a project planning meeting. Yuamu explains to the members that they're going to adapt Yudias' idea and proceed with the premise of showing Meeeg-chan's charm to the audience with the power of Rush Duels, which Chupataro as the producer agrees. Arisugawa wonders who will write the scenarios. Yuhi volunteers to write the scenarios while he steps aside from the producing and directing roles. Yuamu informs that Omaeno used to be part of a book club when he was younger.

The scenario meeting begins. Omaeno reads the scenario, which is about Meeeg-chan revealing that she is in fact the rightful successor to the 8 Baaad Sheep, an organization that had caused humanity's ruin and downfall. Chupataro hates this and decides to write his scenario. Then, we transition to the cards placed on the table. Arisugawa explains that the role of the Duel writer is to assemble together a Rush Duel that will be showcased in the anime. Yuhi is about to volunteer again, but Omaeno suggests that they should use the president of the neighborhood Go and Shogi club, which are the tactical games similar to Dueling. Chupataro declares to call the president over. Yudias looks at the drawing, taken aback that the card is written to existence the moment its drawn. Yuhi and Yuamu look at the papers as well as Yuhi realizes that the cards were made from space debris and meteors. Yuamu tells the president that there's no way that could happen and the president asks her if it's too much cheating for him. Chupataro scolds the president for making an inspiring anime with such crazy Duels and decides to write it himself.

At UTS' animation studio, Yuhi and Chupataro gaze inside. Arisugawa reminisces that he got these through his old contacts and Yuamu says that it's perfect. Next, they do monster designs and Yuhi declares it's his turn now. The president interrupts him that since Yuhi encountered a lot of aliens, it would now be Yudias' turn to be the cheat. Yudias takes out monster drawings and places them on the table, explaining that this is a Daikinger, an alien who can melt even asteroids with its highly acidic saliva, the Tastee, who takes the brains of everything it encounters and replaces them with miso paste, and so on as the Ohdo twins sweatdrop and feel uncomfortable with Yudias' idea. Chupataro warns Yudias that the kids are gonna freak out and decides that he will do it. He shows the twins his scenario as he unravels the storyboard and explains that the storyboards determine how a written scenario will be expressed in animation. Arisugawa notes that the storyboards are like important blueprints. Yuhi is about to say his talent, but Arisugawa interrupts him, informing him that storyboards are usually written by the director. Yuhi looks at Yuamu's storyboard, which is totally sloppy and wonders if it's a beetle molting. Yuamu tells her brother that it's Meeeg-chan running. Yudias sees that the Duel Disk is exploding in the drawing, but Yuamu corrects him that it is the dog Shoruta giving his paw. Chupataro is upset at Yuamu's storyboarding idea.

During key frames and art, Arisugawa says that anyone who's got some artistry can do either as we see Purisaki, Yagi, Yuhi, and Tazaki write their own art on their desks. Once they're done, each of the members show their art. Yuhi, Tazaki, and Yagi's drawings come out horrible, but Purisaki has a beautifully made sculpture of Meeeg-chan, which upsets Chupataro even more.

Everyone's storyboards of Meeeg-chan upset Chupataro more and more, but even at this attempt, he points out to Yuhi that Meeeg-chan's movements are awkward and orders him to redraw it and the same goes to all the other UTS members.

Outside, an exhausted Yudias chants "Jo jon du" and admits to the members that he is no asset in the art of making anime. Yagi felt like he's just cleaning up after Chupataro. Yudias and Yuamu peek through the window, seeing an impressed Chupataro telling Yuhi to redraw because the lines in his drawing are a lot more expressive. As Yuhi continues to draw, he thinks that making an anime is not that easy but it's just as fun as Rush Duels.

All of the UTS members head back inside the studio and get the drawing jobs done. Chupataro breaks his pencil lead, stressed that everyone is trying their best, but they will not make it at this pace. Just then, Manabu and the MIK arrive at the scene as Manabu suspects that Chupataro is up to no good again and they're revoking his parole if so, which Nyandestar agrees. Yudias tells Manabu that is not the case and shortly afterwards, the MIK is brought inside the building, touched by UTS' passion beyond 100 degrees of the boiling point and they agree to help with their anime work. As everyone works, Chupataro dreams that with manpower and a cat drawing, they might make it. Then, UTS and MIK do the finishing touches, filming, editing, and Copyko does post-recording. Chupataro gushes over her, remembering that the moment he met her, he knew she was the one. Just then, Manya arrives asking UTS why didn't they greet them at the door when they came here as Yuhi and Yuamu are happy to see her. After a while of voice recording, dubbing, and watching in the screening room, the anime is finally completed. Yuhi is amazed at the finishing tape. Arisugawa urges the others to go to the Mutsuba Cable TV. Yuhi, Yuamu, and Chupataro rush outside as they shout "UTS!". Yuhi slips on one of the papers and Yuamu warns her brother that they're going to be late to the point where Yuhi apologizes.

Outside, Yuhi grabs the tape and places it on the back of Chupataro's bike. Chupataro takes off as Yuamu tells him to be careful. While riding his bike, Chupataro daydreams of how Meeeg-chan's image will recover when the anime airs. However, he gets so distracted he nearly hits on a fire hydrant and the tape flings out of his bike and falls into the water.

Back at UTS, Yagi finds the tape that was in the hallway. When everyone looks at the tape, Yuhi wonders if he made a mistake when he fell earlier but Arisugawa declares that it's not too late. Bochi jumps out of the window and transforms into his alien form as Yudias, Yuhi, and Yuamu watch him. Yuamu tells him that they're counting on him. Yudias congratulates Yuhi on his hard work.

At the Mutsuba Cable TV, the Meeeg-chan anime has aired at last. As UTS and MIK watch, Manya and Manabu point out that it's all movement and narration. Arisugawa explains that this is the optimal allocation of their resources. Yuhi sees the frames moving now. As they all continue to watch, Yuamu complains that Manya is talking a lot and the still frames and narration. The most of the show's scenes go well, but Yudias notices that the cut of Meeeg-chan was redrawn by Yuhi countless times. Yuamu tells him that he did his best, but it was only shown for a second. Yuhi smiles as he enjoys the anime and the entire city watches the episode of the Meeeg-chan show. This goes completely well.

Everyone cheers and Chupataro tears up with joy, hoping that Meeeg-chan's image will be fixed and he'll join the ranks of famous producers. He will also rise up now the people nationwide seen the anime, but all over the world. Yuhi notes that when Chupataro was in prison, he didn't know about what happened and Yuamu says that people in Mutsuba Town have only seen the anime, which shocks Chupataro.

Chupataro walks outside with Yudias and gaze at the stars with Yudias narrating that alongside they live in Mutsuba Town, they bid farewell to the Earth and are now traveling through the vast expanse of space and Chupataro cries "What, chupa?!"
