Yu-Gi-Oh!

Notes

  • This card has been used recurringly by Yugi Muto/Yami Yugi.
  • This monster's attack is "Magical Thunder Shock" 「魔降雷」 in the manga/Japanese anime and "Lightning Strike" in the English anime.

Original Manga

  • When Duel Monsters gets introduced, this card is amongst a few other random cards shown by Yugi and Solomon Muto. Here it's a Level 7 monster and was called "デーモン" (Demon) in the Japanese version.[1]
  • When Yugi duels Seto Kaiba, this card appears and destroys Kaiba's "Battle Ox" and a number of Kaiba's cards over the next few turns.[2][3]

Duelist Kingdom

  • When Yugi duels Maximillion Pegasus, Yugi plays this monster to attack and destroy "Illusionist Faceless Mage" to win to duel but the duel's time limit expires before this monster completes its attack. Since Pegasus had higher Life Points when time expired he won the Duel.[4]
  • When Yugi duels Seto Kaiba, Yugi draws this card but can't play it due to the effect of Kaiba's "Crush Card Virus".[7]
  • In episode 33, this card appears when Yami Yugi explains to Joey that Duel Monsters is about the balance between Monsters and Spell and Trap Cards.
  • When Yugi duels Joey Wheeler, Yugi plays this monster to attack and destroy Joey's "Armored Lizard". Joey then uses "Shield & Sword" to swap the Attack and Defense of all monsters out. Joey's "Flame Swordsman" then destroys this card. Later, Joey uses "Graverobber" to steal this card from Yugi's Graveyard and summon it to his side of the field. Joey then uses "Copycat" to copy "Polymerization" and use that to fuse this monster and "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" together to form "Black Skull Dragon".[9][10]
  • In episode 35, this card appears in Yugi's thoughts when he notes it will take all the wisdom his grandfather taught him and all the power in his cards to defeat Pegasus.
  • When Yugi duels Maximillion Pegasus, Yami Yugi summons this monster in Defense Position. Pegasus' "Ryu-Ran" then tries to attack this monster, but Yugi activates "Spellbinding Circle" to immobilize "Ryu-Ran" and decrease its ATK by 700. Yami Yugi then switches this monster to Attack Position. He then sends this monster to attack Pegasus' "Ryu-Ran", but Pegasus activates "Trap Displacement" to change the target of "Spellbinding Circle" to this monster. This stops this monster's attack and decreases this card's ATK by 700. Pegasus' "Ryu Ran" then destroys this monster. Later, Pegasus activates "Doppel-ganger" to Special Summon itself as this monster with the same stats as this monster. "Toon World" then transforms this monster into "Toon Summoned Skull". It remains this way until Yugi Muto uses "Living Arrow" to use Pegasus' "Magical Neutralizing Force Field" to destroy "Toon World".[11][12]
  • Within the Millennium Puzzle, Yugi Muto and Shadi search through Yami Yugi's mind to find this monster among others within Stone Slabs.[13]
  • When Yugi duels Rebecca Hawkins, Yugi plays this monster to attack Rebecca's set monster, but it is then revealed to be "Millennium Shield" and since the latter's DEF is higher than this card's ATK, the attack fails. Rebecca then equips her "Millennium Shield" with "Ring of Magnetism", decreasing the DEF of "Millennium Shield" by 500, but forcing all of Yugi's attacks to be redirected to "Millennium Shield". This card then attacks Rebecca's "Cannon Soldier", but due to the effect of "Ring of Magnetism", the attack is redirected to "Millennium Shield". Since the latter's DEF is equal to this card's ATK, the attack fails.[14] Later Yugi uses "Brain Control" to take control of Rebecca's "Millennium Shield". He then tributes it for the effect of his "Catapult Turtle". This allows this monster to destroy Rebecca's "Cannon Soldier". Both this monster and "Catapult Turtle" are then destroyed by Rebecca's "Judgment Blaster".[15]
  • In episode 43, this card appears on the rack of cards that Yugi, Joey, and Mokuba pass by while they are going through a town.
  • When Yugi and his friends are confronted by a "Gate Guardian" at the end of the labyrinth that was within The Big Five's Virtual World Program, Yugi combines this card and Joey's "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" together thanks to "Polymerization" to form "Black Skull Dragon".[16]

Battle City

  • In episode 63, this card appears in a flashback Weevil has when he remembers the shame he got from being beaten by Yugi back at Duelist Kingdom.
  • In episode 78, this card appears in a series of flashbacks Joey has when he starts to remember that he is a Duelist(as Marik brainwashed him into Dueling Yugi and defeating him).
  • In episode 85, this card can be seen when Yugi is rebuilding his Deck.

Virtual World

  • In episode 99, this card appears when Yami Yugi was building his Virtual World Deck before his Duel with Gansley.

Battle City Finals

  • When a duelist duels another duelist, the former duelist plays this monster after tributing his "Big Shield Gardna". This card then destroys the latter duelist's "Jinzo". This card is then destroyed by "St. Joan", defeating the former Duelist.[19]

Waking the Dragons

  • In episode 159, this card appears in one of two flashbacks Weevil and Rex have when they remember their losses against Yugi and Joey respectively in Duelist Kingdom and declare to Dartz they want revenge against Yugi and Joey for those losses.
  • In Dartz's headquarters, this card is seen among piles of cards in Weevil Underwood and Rex Raptor's fantasy when he thinks the reason why Pegasus invited Yugi and his friends was because he wanted to give them rare cards just for them.
  • In episode 182, Yami Yugi Summons this card to aide in the battle against The Great Leviathan. Yami, Joey, and Kaiba, after bringing out three monsters each, then summoned their Legendary Dragons. Yami then used "Legend of Heart" to transform the Dragons into the three Legendary Knights. All the monsters summoned by Yami, Joey, and Kaiba then attack The Great Leviathan, but it doesn't work. When the Great Leviathan counterattacks, Yami quickly has Timaeus absorb the power of "Big Shield Gardna" to protect everyone from the attack. While this saves the chosen Duelists and the Legendary Knights, it doesn't save the other monsters summoned by the Chosen Duelists as they were destroyed by the attack.

Dawn of the Duel

  • In episode 200, this card appears within Yami Yugi's mind when Yami Bakura claims to him that his mind is an unsolvable maze and that he pursues games like riddles.
  • In episode 223, this card appears in a flashback that Téa Gardner has when she notes that "Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight" and this card are monsters that have fought alongside Yugi in his previous Duels.
