Arkana (Duel Links)

Arkana is a character in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. This is a video game depiction of Arkana, a character from the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime.

He is unlocked by clearing the first round of the special event Duelist Chronicles: Battle City Begins! Prior to being made available as a playable character, he had also appeared as an opponent in special events as a roaming opponent. Arkana also appears as an opponent during the special events Attack of the Rare Hunters! Yami Marik Returns! and Unleash the Egyptian God Card! Yami Marik Returns II. Additionally, Arkana appears as an opponent during the special event Duelist Chronicles: Battle City Begins!.

Prior to being made available as a playable character in-game, he was able to be played at the Duel Links arcade machines at JUMP Victory Carnival 2017, which was held on July 22, 2017 in Tokyo and July 29, 2017 in Osaka.

Description

One of Marik's nefarious Rare Hunters. Arkana believes he is the one true Master of Magicians. He has no qualms about harming his own cards - as long as it guarantees him a victory. During Battle City, Arkana faced Yami Yugi in a clash of Dark Magicians - where one mistake could lead to an eternity in the Shadow Realm.

Yami Yugi

• When starting a Duel with Yami Yugi, Arkana says "There only needs to be one Duelist who wields Dark Magician." followed by "This Duel will decide the real Master of Magicians!"
  • When he wins the Duel, he says "Hahahaha! This is why I'm the Master of Magicians!" followed by "The king of ALL Dark Magicians!"
  • When he loses the Duel, he says "How could this be? Monsters are supposed to respond best to fear!" followed by "You can't command their respect with kindness and trust!"

Yami Marik

• When starting a Duel with Yami Marik, Arkana says "It will be dishonorable if I went easy on you, Master Marik." followed by "So witness my true magic!"
  • When he wins the Duel, he says "I believe I've proven my worth, Master Marik."
  • When he loses the Duel, he says "Give me another chance! Spare me from the Shadow Realm!" followed by "Forgive me, Marik!"

• When Arkana Summons "Dark Magician" (using his alternate artwork), a cut-in frame of Arkana appears, and he announces "Hahahaha! Here comes the greatest magician of all!" If that player hasn't already Summoned "Dark Magician" (using his alternate artwork) during that Duel, a cutscene of "Dark Magician" being Summoned plays afterwards.
  • Most of the time when Arkana declares an attack with that monster, he announces "Dark Magician serves me - and only me! Dark Magic Attack!"
