Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS[edit]
Multiple series[edit]
- Yusaku Fujiki's ace monster, "Firewall Dragon", has 2500 ATK, like all of the previous protagonists' ace monsters. Like all of the ace monsters since GX, . It also follows the rotation of Attributes that started from the first series. However, it is the first to have the Type that is neither a Dragon, nor Warrior monster, but instead, a Cyberse.
- Despite "Firewall Dragon" as a Link Monster, lacking a Level and DEF, Yusaku used different ace monsters from different Summoning mechanics.
- They are all Level 7 monsters, except "Firewall eXceed Dragon" for it being an Xyz Monster, like "Dark Magician", "Elemental HERO Neos", and "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon".
- They all have 2000 DEF, like "Elemental HERO Neos", "Stardust Dragon", "Number 39: Utopia", and "Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.
- As an Xyz Monster, "Firewall eXceed Dragon" is Rank 4, like "Number 39: Utopia".
- As with all series since GX, the protagonist's Deck focuses on monsters from the Extra Deck and like all series since 5D's, the monsters (including the protagonist's ace monster) are a new type of card introduced in that series (though Jaden did introduce Contact Fusion).
- The Duel Disks used in the series seem to be an old model that require actual cards to enter LINK VRAINS and seemingly lack the touchscreen interface seen since Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL. The body heavily resembles a hybrid of the Kaiba Corporation and GX Duel Academy Duel Disks. While the blade is energy-based and follows the same color scheme as blades of the ARC-V Duel Disks.
- The first Duel of the series has the opponent use a monster with 3000 ATK (though for the first time its ATK is raised beyond that) and it is defeated by using an (if not the) ace monster and altering the ATK of one or both monsters.
- Akira Zaizen, Shay Obsidian, Reginald Kastle and Joey Wheeler mirror each other with the fact that all three fight for the safety of their younger sisters (Skye Zaizen, Lulu Obsidian, Rio Kastle and Serenity Wheeler, respectively).
- Yusaku's "Firewall Dragon Darkfluid" is similar Yuya's "Rune-Eyes Pendulum Dragon" and "Beast-Eyes Pendulum Dragon",Yusei's "Shooting Star Dragon" and Yuma's "Number C39: Utopia Ray V" in several ways:
- All of them are the result of infusing the protagonists' ace monsters with power from the enemy (Yusei learned Accel Synchro Summoning from Bruno/Antinomy; Yuma obtained "Rank-Up-Magic Limited Barian's Force" from Vector, Yuya learned Fusion Summoning from Zuzu, who had learned it from Sora Perse, meaning that knowledge was passed down from Duel Academy), and Yusaku from Bohman as he created a LINK-5 monster.
- "Firewall Dragon Darkfluid", "Rune-Eyes" and "Shooting Star Dragon" are both able to attack multiple times.
- Yusaku, much like Yugi Muto,Jaden Yuki, and Yuma Tsukumo have their own Kuriboh, "Linkuriboh" is similar to "Kuriboh", "Winged Kuriboh", and "Rainbow Kuriboh" respectively.
Yu-Gi-Oh![edit]
- Ai having a name that starts with "A", much like Atem, and he's Yusaku's partner, much like Atem being Yugi Muto's partner, and having no memories by the start of the series.
- Ai's using "Judgment Arrows" is similar to how Atem used "The Seal of Orichalcos", although, while Atem was forced by Raphael, Ai had to carry out Lightning's wishes.
- Yusaku is the first protagonist to use Ritual Summon since Yugi Muto.
- Yusaku, Takeru Homura, and Ai used Ritual Summoning similar to how Yugi, Seto Kaiba, Dartz, and Joey Wheeler used Ritual Summoning throughout the series.
- Emma Bessho shares similarities with Mai Valentine
- They both start off being selfish, and don't do anything with the rest of the characters unless it benefits them.
- Both use their alluring appearance to reach their goals.
- Faust, Dr. Genome, and Baira played a similar role to Doma's knights.
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX[edit]
- The existence of Fusion Summoning.
- Yusaku's first ace, being "Decode Talker" is similar to Jaden's "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman".
- They both win their first duel with the said ace.
- Yusaku's usage of weak monsters as a fodder or to attack with them is similar to how Jaden used his "Elemental HERO"'s Main Deck monsters.
- George Gore's undergoing into changes, that includes changing his Deck to defeat Yusaku is similar to how Chazz Princeton's changing Decks and undergoing into changes to defeat Jaden.
- They both end up losing to Yusaku and Jaden respectively.
- Lightning, being the representative of light and LIGHT Attribute being an antagonist is similar to Sartorius (possessed by the Light of Destruction)).
- The conflict between the Ignis is parallel to the second season of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, with light representing evil (Lightning (LIGHT Ignis) and Sartorius (possessed by the Light of Destruction)) and darkness representing good (Ai (DARK Ignis) and Jaden Yuki (empowered by the Gentle Darkness)).
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's[edit]
- The existence of Synchro Summoning.
- Just like Turbo Duels, Speed Duel is the most trendy way of dueling ever since Yusaku had his first Speed Duel (alongside Ai).
- The Rivalary of Yusaku and Varis is similar to Yusei Fudo's rivalary with Jack Atlas.
- Yusaku starting off initially obssessed with revenge against Knights of Hanoi is similar to how Yusei started off obsessed with revenge against Jack.
- Similar to how Jack betrayed Yusei and company to become the king, Varis in his childhood tricked Yusaku into being Kidnapped byDr. Kogami's lost incident project.
- Yusaku's being a wanted hacker in LINK VRAINS is similar to how Yusei was wanted by Sector Security.
- LINK VRAINS mirrors Speed World and Speed World 2.
- Yusaku's using an old Duel Disk Model is similar to how Yusei used a modified old Duel Disk Model.
- Yusaku's Deck is a combination of generic Cyberse monsters, with "Code Talker" and "Firewall" is similar to Yusei's Deck is combination of Generic Warrior and Machine monsters with "Junk", "Synchron", and "Stardust" respectively.
- Yusaku used "Cyberse Synchron" is similar to Yusei's usage of "Synchron" monsters.
- The Introduction of Cyberse is similar to the introduction of Psychic monsters.
- Faust, Dr. Genome, and Baira played a similar role to Three Pure Nobles of Iliaster.
- They tried to eliminate the Ignis as Knights of Hanoi similar to how Three Pure Nobles tried to eradiacte the Synchro Summoning with the same reason of the Ignis and Cyberse being a threat to the humanity as how the Three Pure Nobles viewed the Synchro Summoning as a threat to the humanity.
- Emma Bessho works as a Cyber Treasure hunter and mercenary for a living is similar to how Carly Carmine works as a Journalist and risked her life for a living.
- Both used an archetype composed of Female Spellcaster monsters with different Attributes, "Altergeist" and "Fortune Lady/Fairy" respectively.
- Skye Zaizen shares similarities with Akiza Izinski
- She initially was not interested in Yusaku except in Dueling much like Akiza's not being initially interested in Yusei, then later, they both start develop feelings for Yusaku and Yusei respectively.
- Skye joining "Team Playmaker" is similar to how Akiza joined Team 5D's.
- George Gore's love for children is similar to Crow Hogan's love to Children.
- Takeru Homura playing a similar role to Crow Hogan, as he initially wanted to meet Playmaker, then joining forces with Yusaku and Kal Kolter is similar to how Crow rejoining Yusei's company (although Yusei and Crow knew each otehr before).
- The Ignis' combining powers with Playmaker to defeat Bohman is similar to Yusei using Signer's Signer Dragon cards to Summon "Shooting Quasar Dragon and defeat Z-ONE.
Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL[edit]
- The existence of Xyz Summoning.
- Much like Astral, Ai's being Yusaku's partner, and having no memories by the start of the series.
- The Field visuals were borrowed from how Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL Initially used Field visuals.
- Windy's manipulative and twisted character is simimar to "Vector".
- They both got brainwashed by Lightning and Don Thousand respectively.
Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V[edit]
- The "Ignis Unification Project" is similar to Leo Akaba's Arc Project in which it unites the Four Dimensions into one to Stop Zarc from reviving.
- Likewise, Bohman's unification with the Ignis (except for Ai) is similar to Yuya Sakaki,Yuto, Yugo and Yuri's unification into Zarc.
- Bohman's final ace, "Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid" is similar to "Supreme King Z-ARC" being a monster composed of all entities that are Ignis to Zarc's incarnations.
- The usage of Skill is similar to Action Cards.
- Despite the absence of Pendulum Monsters, VRAINS used Fusion, Synchro, Ritual, and Xyz Monsters in tandem with Link Monsters similar to how ARC-Vused Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz Monsters in tandem with Pendulum Monsters.
- Similar to ARC-V, VRAINS depicted Fusion, Synchro, Ritual, and Xyz Monsters.
- Specter's manipulative and twisted personality is similar to Yuri's, also, his loyality to Varis is similar to Yuri's to Leo Akaba.
