Episode 153 - Return of the Supreme King - Part 1

Episode Summary After freeing Jesse from Yubel's influence, Jaden decides to stop his former misguided friend once and for all. Before he goes to confront Yubel, Jaden is given Jesse's deck (even though he only uses Jesse's "Rainbow Dragon" in the Duel) and the blessings of his remaining friends. While on his way, Jaden finds out that Yubel had been exposed to the Light of Destruction (This is not mentioned in the English dub, but the scene with the Light is still shown), and attempts to free it from the radiance's influence, but to no avail. Syrus later decides to be the eyewitness to this grand confrontation, and thus, he follows Jaden. On his way to the event, Syrus suddenly sees Chazz, who informs him that he and the others are trapped in another alternate dimension. Meanwhile, Jaden and Yubel start their Duel. Yubel starts the duel with her Spell Chronicle card, (which she says will record their future together), but her true intention is to gain Super Polymerization (which she removes from play with her "Chronicle" card) and fuse the 12 Duel Monster Spirit Dimensions into one. She expects Jaden to add the removed Super Polymerization to her hand. Even though he (predictably) doesn't, Jaden quickly falls behind when Yubel summons herself and uses its effect to inflict massive damage to Jaden's Life Points. As the duel progresses, Jaden quickly realizes that any attempts at negotiation with the deranged Yubel prove fruitless and instead he resolves to destroy Yubel, ultimately calling forth his Dark half, The Supreme King. Featured Duels Jaden Yuki vs. Yubel Major Events Yubel's true Deck is revealed during this Duel. Jaden is convinced that only his Supreme King persona can defeat Yubel, because only then, Bastion related, can he become complete. Elemental Hero Prisma makes its debut in this duel. Jaden reveals two of "Rainbow Neos's" special effects. Yubel's Turn Summons "Samsara Lotus" (0 ATK / 0 DEF) in Attack Position and sets a card. Activates "Spell Chronicle". Now she can take 5 cards from her Deck and remove them from play. She chooses "Zero Sprite", "Fiend Rose", "Mystical Space Typhoon", "Grinder Golem", and "Super Polymerization". Also, for every 2 Spell Cards her opponent (Jaden) activates, she can allow him to choose one of the cards she removed from play, and it will return to her hand. (NOTE: In the real game, "Spell Chronicle" requires the player to discard his entire hand, and it only allows the removal of Spells and Traps; also, if "Spell Chronicle" is removed from the field while cards are still removed from play—which never happened during this Duel—the controller takes 500 points of damage per card removed via this effect.) Jaden's Turn Activates "Polymerization", which enables his Elemental Heroes "Avian" and "Burstinatrix" to fuse into "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" (2100 ATK / 1200 DEF) in Attack Position. However, Jaden had activated a Spell Card, while "Spell Chronicle" was still on the field, so it gains its first Chronicle Counter. Attacks and destroys Yubel's "Samsara Lotus" with his "Flame Wingman", but she responds with her face-down card, "Sinister Seeds", which allows her the Special Summon of a "Sinister Seed Token" for every 1000 points of damage she would have received from "Flame Wingman's" attack. 2 Seed Tokens are summoned (0 ATK / 0 DEF each) and the leftover damage (100 Life Points) is dealt to Yubel. (Yubel: 3900 LP) (NOTE: The real "Sinister Seeds" card lets you summon one "Sinister Seed Token" for every 500 points of damage you take when an Attack Position monster you controlled was destroyed in battle, and does not negate the damage.) Yubel's Turn Tributes her "Seed Tokens" to summon Regenerating Rose (0 ATK / 1500 DEF) in Attack Position Attacks "Flame Wingman" with her "Rose" and activates its effect: its ATK becomes the ATK of the monster it is battling. Since it is targeting "Flame Wingman", who has 2100 ATK, its ATK also becomes 2100. (NOTE: The real "Regenerating Rose" card does not have this effect) Jaden realizes that both monsters will be destroyed, but, Yubel explains, "Regenerating Rose" will leave behind 2 "Regenerating Rose Tokens" when it is destroyed, so he counters with "De-Fusion", which splits his "Flame Wingman" back into its Fusion Material Monsters—Elemental Heroes "Avian" (1000 ATK / 1000 DEF) and "Burstinatrix" (1200 ATK / 800 DEF)—who return to the field in Defense Position. Since her "Rose's" effect only activates while the monster it's battling is in Attack Position, its ATK drops back to 0, and Yubel cancels her attack, but with "De-Fusion" having been played, Yubel adds another Chronicle Counter to her "Spell Chronicle". Then she activates the effect of her "Spell Chronicle", removing the 2 Chronicle Counters from the card. Now Jaden must select 1 of the 5 cards she removed from play. That card will be added to her hand. After much debating, Jaden decides that "Super Polymerization" must be the card Yubel really wants in her hand, and decides he can't let her get that card, so he selects "Zero Sprite". Jaden's Turn Summons "Elemental Hero Sparkman" (1600 ATK / 1400 DEF) in Attack Position and equips him with "Spark Blaster", but this gives "Spell Chronicle" a Chronicle Counter. "Spark Blaster" allows the equipped "Sparkman" to switch the position of any face-up monster to its opposite position. After this effect is used 3 times, "Spark Blaster" is destroyed; Jaden uses it to switch Yubel's "Regenerating Rose" to Defense Position. "Sparkman" attacks and destroys Yubel's "Regenerating Rose", but now, 2 "Regenerating Rose Tokens" (1200 ATK / 800 DEF each) are summoned in its place Yubel's Turn Yubel Sets a card and then tributes her 2 Regenerating Rose Tokens to summon "Yubel" (0 ATK / 0 DEF) in Attack Position (Notably, unlike most other Duel Monster Spirits who have participated in Duels, the original Yubel does not step onto the field; instead, a clone of herself is summoned.) Yubel attacks Sparkman with her "Yubel" on the field and activates its effect; it is not destroyed in battle, and Jaden receives the Battle Damage the original Yubel would have taken from the battle (Jaden: 2400 LP) (IMPORTANT: The real "Yubel" card does not have this effect; instead, your opponent must target an Attack-Position "Yubel" you control in battle, and it deals damage equal to the ATK of the attacking monster your opponent controls.) Since "Samsara Lotus" is in her Graveyard, she can activates its effect and summons it back to the field (0 ATK / 0 DEF) in Defense Position. If Yubel does not Tribute a monster, her Yubel on the field will be destroyed; she tributes Samsara Lotus for Yubel's effect. (NOTE: the real "Samsara Lotus" card can only summon itself from your Graveyard if you control no Spells or Traps) Jaden's Turn Switches his "Sparkman" to Defense Position and sets a card Yubel's Turn "Yubel" attacks and targets Jaden's "Sparkman", but since Yubel declared an attack while Jaden was in control of an "Elemental Hero" monster, he can activate his face-down card, "Hero Barrier", which negates an attack only once when activated. However, Yubel activates her own face-down card, "Zero Sprite" (after taunting Jaden that he allowed her to gain that card), which is equipped to her "Yubel". "Zero Sprite" reduces the ATK of the equipped monster to 0 (which is moot, since "Yubel" already has 0 ATK), but now, "Yubel" can attack once again in a row. The first attack was negated, but now, Yubel can launch a second attack on "Sparkman" with her "Yubel" on the field, activating its effect. Since "Sparkman" was in Defense Position, its original DEF is dealt to Jaden as damage (even though "Sparkman" somehow switched to Attack Position) (Jaden: 1000 LP) Since "Samsara Lotus" is still in her Graveyard, she can activates its effect and summons it back to the field (0 ATK / 0 DEF) in Defense Position. Then she tributes it to keep her "Yubel" on the field. Jaden's Turn From this point on, Jaden harnesses the power of his Dark half—The Supreme King. Activates "Neo-Space Wave", allowing him to tribute his monsters and summon a number of random "Neo-Spacians" from his Deck, up to the number of tributed monsters. He tributes his Elemental Heroes Avian, Burstinatrix, and Sparkman to summon Neo-Spacians Aqua Dolphin (600/800) and Glow Moss (300/900) in Attack Position, and Air Hummingbird (800/600) in Defense Position With Neo-Space Wave activated, Yubel's "Spell Chronicle" gains its second Chronicle Counter Activates NEX, allowing him to tribute a Neo-Spacian and summon a Level 4 Fusion Monster from his Deck sharing the same name; he tributes his Glow Moss for Twinkle Moss (500/1100). (However, Yubel's "Spell Chronicle" can only accumulate 2 Counters, so it is full at this moment.) Activates his Air Hummingbird's effect, gaining 500 LP for each card in Yubel's hand; she has 3 cards, so he gains back 1500 LP (Jaden: 2500 LP) Attacks with Twinkle Moss and activates its effect, drawing 1 card. It gains the appropriate effect, depending on the card he draws. He draws and shows Space Gift to Yubel. Since he drew a Spell Card with Twinkle Moss' effect, it can attack Yubel directly (Yubel: 3400 LP) Activates the Space Gift he just drew, allowing him to draw 1 card for every different Neo-Spacian he controls. He controls 3, so he draws 3 cards Sets a card Yubel's Turn With 2 Chronicle Counters on her Spell Chronicle, Yubel removes them and activates its effect, allowing Jaden to select 1 of the remaining 4 cards she removed from play; he selects Fiend Rose to return to her hand Attacks Aqua Dolphin twice with Yubel: once normally, and again due to Zero Sprite's effect (Jaden: 1900, then 1300 LP) Activates Samsara Lotus' effect, returning it to the field and tributing it for Yubel's effect. Jaden's Turn Activates his Air Hummingbird's effect, gaining 500 LP for each card in Yubel's hand; she still has 3 cards, so he gains back 1500 LP (Jaden: 2800 LP) Summons Card Ejector (400/0) and activates its effect, intending to remove Samsara Lotus in Yubel's Graveyard from play, but Yubel activates Zero Hole, negating the effect of Card Ejector and destroying it Since his Card Ejector was destroyed, Jaden activates N - Signal, allowing him to summon a Neo-Spacian; he chooses Grand Mole (900/300) Attacks Yubel with Grand Mole, planning to send both monsters back to the player's hand with Grand Mole's effect, but Yubel activates Hate Buster. Since a Fiend Yubel controls is targeted in battle, she can destroy both Yubel and Grand Mole and inflict damage to Jaden equal to his Grand Mole's ATK (Jaden: 1900 LP) With her Yubel destroyed by another effect besides its own, Yubel activates its effect and Special Summons its Terror Incarnate form (0/0) (NOTE: In the real game, this would not work, as Yubel's effect would miss the timing due to Hate Buster's final effect) Jaden attacks with Twinkle Moss, activating its effect and drawing 1 card. He draws Elemental Hero Prisma; since it's a monster, he can end his Battle Phase Sets a card Yubel's Turn Merges and attacks Aqua Dolphin with Yubel - Terror Incarnate, activating her evolved form's effect; like her original form, it is not destroyed in battle, and instead, Jaden takes all the damage Yubel would have taken from the battle (Jaden: 1300 LP) (NOTE: Like the original Yubel, this card does not have this effect; instead, your opponent must target Yubel - Terror Incarnate in battle, and it deals damage equal to the ATK of the attacking monster your opponent controls.) Activates Samsara Lotus' effect, returning it to the field Although she no longer needs a tribute, she can activate her Terror Incarnate's effect. By tributing every other monster she controls (besides Yubel - Terror Incarnate) to the Graveyard, monsters Jaden controls are destroyed, up to the number of monsters Yubel tributed. She tributes Samsara Lotus and destroys Jaden's Air Hummingbird. (Note: in the real game, Yubel - Terror Incarnate destroys all monsters on the field except itself.) Jaden's Turn When he draws Polymerization, he freezes up, until Aqua Dolphin offers to be a Tribute and reminds Jaden that he needs to face his inner darkness. On that note, his resolve returns, and he tributes Aqua Dolphin for Elemental Hero Prisma (1700/1100) in Defense Position (NOTE: The real Elemental Hero Prisma card is a Level 4 monster, not Level 5, as shown in the Anime) Attacks with Twinkle Moss, activating its effect. He draws Fake Hero, a Spell Card, which means Twinkle Moss can attack Yubel directly (Yubel: 2900 LP) Yubel's Turn Attacks Prisma with Yubel - Terror Incarnate and activates its effect. Since Prisma is in Defense Position, its original DEF is dealt to Jaden as damage (but, like Sparkman, it also somehow switches its Battle Position) (Jaden: 200 LP) Activates "Samsara Lotus'" effect, returning it to the field and tributing it for her Terror Incarnate to destroy Jaden's Twinkle Moss Sets a card Jaden's Turn Activates Fake Hero, allowing him to summon an Elemental Hero from his hand, but it must return to his hand at the end of his turn; he chooses Elemental Hero Neos (2500/2000) Because Fake Hero was activated, Yubel's "Spell Chronicle" gains a Chronicle Counter Activates his Prisma's effect, choosing a Fusion Monster from his Deck and sending 1 Fusion-Material Monster from his Deck to the Graveyard. He chooses Rainbow Neos from his Fusion Deck and sends Rainbow Dragon (4000/0) from his main Deck to the Graveyard. As long as Prisma is on the field, it is treated as Rainbow Dragon. Activates Polymerization, sending Neos and Prisma—now treated as Rainbow Dragon—to the Graveyard to Fusion Summon Rainbow Neos (4500/3000) Since Polymerization was activated, Yubel's "Spell Chronicle" gains its second Counter Activates one of Rainbow Neos' effects, sending the top card of his Deck (his Necroshade) to the Graveyard. This allows Rainbow Neos to return every card in Yubel's Graveyard to her Deck (including her Samsara Lotus) Activates Hidden Armory. This prevents Jaden from summoning a Monster this turn, but he can discard 1 card to add an Equip Spell Card from his Deck to his hand. Discarding Necro Gardna, he adds Rainbow Veil to his hand and equips it to Rainbow Neos Rainbow Neos attacks Yubel - Terror Incarnate, and while equipped with Rainbow Veil, the opposing monster it battles has its effects negated Yubel activates Fiend Rose, equipping it to her Terror Incarnate and negating the Battle Damage Sets a card Yubel's Turn With 2 Chronicle Counters on her "Spell Chronicle", Yubel removes them and activates its effect. Jaden can now choose 1 of the 3 remaining cards Yubel removed from play to add to her hand; he selects Mystical Space Typhoon. Activates Mystical Space Typhoon and destroys Rainbow Veil Attacks Rainbow Neos with her Yubel - Terror Incarnate Jaden activates the effect of his Necro Gardna in the Graveyard, removing it from play and canceling the attack Jaden's Turn Activates Fifth Hope. With its effect, he can take 5 Elemental Heroes from his Graveyard and shuffle them back into his Deck—he chooses Elemental Heroes Avian, Burstinatrix, Sparkman, Prisma, and Neos—and in exchange, he draws 2 cards from his Deck As soon as Fifth Hope is played, Yubel's "Spell Chronicle" gains a Chronicle Counter Summons Elemental Hero Clayman (800/2000) in Defense Position Activates another of Rainbow Neos's effects, sending his Clayman to the Graveyard to return all monsters Yubel controls on the field to her Deck With Yubel - Terror Incarnate gone, its effect activates, letting Yubel Special Summon her "Ultimate Nightmare" form (0/0) from her Deck Sets a card Yubel's Turn Merges and attacks Rainbow Neos with The Ultimate Nightmare Jaden activates Alchemy Cycle, reducing Rainbow Neos's ATK to 0 and preventing him from destruction in battle, but removing it from play during the End Phase. Alchemy Cycle also allows Jaden to draw 1 card from his Deck. Sets a card Jaden's Turn Activates the effect of the Necroshade in his Graveyard, allowing him to summon an Elemental Hero without tributing, but only one in the Duel; he chooses Neos (2500/2000) and summons it in Attack Position Sets 2 cards Yubel's Turn Attacks Elemental Hero Neos with Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare Jaden activates Mirage Tube, negating the attack and inflicting damage to Yubel's LP equal to Neos's ATK (Yubel: 400 LP) (NOTE: The real Mirage Tube only inflicts 1000 points of damage to the opponent) After Jaden counters Yubel's attack, he suddenly has a flashback of his past life as The Supreme King. The Duel continues minutes later. With Mirage Tube now played, Yubel's Spell Chronicle gains its second Chronicle Counter With 2 Chronicle Counters on her Spell Chronicle, Yubel removes them and activates its effect, allowing Jaden to select 1 of the remaining 2 cards she removed from play; Jaden chooses Super Polymerization. As Super Polymerization returns to Yubel's hand, she activates Chain Material and chooses 12 monsters (Giant Germ, Chaos Core, Phantom of Chaos, Infernal Incinerator, Maju Garzett, Lava Golem, Raviel, Lord of Phantasms and Gate Guardian, amongst others), each with a unique Level from 1 to 12 (a symbol for the 12 dueling dimensions) Yubel activates Super Polymerization, intending to summon the Super Fusion God, but Jaden counters Chain Material with Spiritual Fusion, allowing him to choose which Fusion-Material Monsters to fuse. He chooses himself and Yubel. Jaden activates Super Polymerization and fuses his soul with Yubel's, ending the Duel with no final result. Note: Yubel could have won the duel, but thanks to Spiritual Fusion, Jaden can now fuse Neos and Yubel to Fusion Summon Neos Wiseman. Featured Cards
