Though members have existed since the Starter Box: Theatrical Release in 1999, it only received its first explicit support with the with Eyes of Blue series.

This archetype is closely related to the "with Eyes of Blue" series.

+
Most "Blue-Eyes" monsters closely resemble the original "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", as all monsters in this archetype are either retrained counterparts, downgraded, or upgraded forms of "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". The With Eyes of Blue monsters are based on the four people who carried the spirit of "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, included Kisara.
Most "Blue-Eyes" monsters closely resemble the original member of the archetype, "Blue-Eyes White Dragon".

Thematically, it has been stated that "Blue-Eyes" represents power while "Red-Eyes" represents potential.

Playing style
Playing style
"Blue-Eyes" deck aims for a field control, usually by destroying opponent monsters. Armed with a reinforcing skill or lock skill from Synchro Summon. While setting up Fusion Summon for an extreme fininshing move.
+
The "Blue-Eyes" archetype centers on the Level 8 LIGHT Dragon Normal Monster, "Blue-Eyes White Dragon"; most "Blue-Eyes" Extra Deck monsters specify "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" as a material, and many "Blue-Eyes" support cards support "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" specifically. Generally, a "Blue-Eyes" Deck aims to utilize the support for "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" to swarm the field with many copies of it and its variants, and use them make Main Deck or Extra Deck boss monsters for OTKs or field control.

After the "Dragon Rulers" were restricted to one, but Soul Charge was still at three, "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and "The White Stone of Legend" were used as a Draw combo with "Cards of Consonance" and "Trade-In", and were used to Draw the four "Dragon Rulers", known unofficially as the "Dragon Draw" engine or "Egg Turbo" build.
+
The archetype's boss monsters can be broadly divided into four types by their card typing: Main Deck non-Ritual, Ritual, Fusion, and Synchro.
 +
* Main Deck non-Ritual: They generally have field control or supportive effects, and typically support the archetype's swarming of Level 8 monsters and/or provide individual pieces of removal. Examples include "Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon", "Dragon Spirit of White", "Deep-Eyes White Dragon", and "Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon".
 +
* Ritual: Consisting of "Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon" and "Blue-Eyes Chaos Dragon", they are Level 8 Ritual Monsters that synergize with the Ritual Spell "Chaos Form". They focus on performing OTKs by dealing massive piercing damage, while having a protective effect that prevents them from being targeted or destroyed by the opponent's card effects.
 +
* Fusion: Consisting of "Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon", "Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", and "Blue-Eyes Alternative Ultimate Dragon", they require 2 or 3 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" as materials. They focus on performing OTKs by having large ATK and being able to attack multiple times, and/or focus on controlling the field by having strong protections and the ability to remove opposing cards.
 +
* Synchro: Consisting of "Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon" and "Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon", they are Level 9 Synchro Monsters that focus on controlling the field by providing situational floodgating, effect negation, monster protection, and monster revival. "Spirit Dragon" notably can Tribute itself to Special Summon any LIGHT Dragon Synchro Monster from the Extra Deck as a Quick Effect, giving it significant flexibility.

These Monster cards also Synchro Summon "Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon" and fueled its effect to build big and hard-to-break boards of Monsters.
+
The archetype's main lower-level support monsters are all Level 1 LIGHT Tuner monsters, and can be divided into two types: the with Eyes of Blue Spellcasters, and the "White Stone" Dragons ("The White Stone of Ancients" and "The White Stone of Legend"). The "with Eyes of Blue" monsters focus on searching and interacting with Level 1 LIGHT Tuners and Special Summoning "Blue-Eyes" monsters, making them consistency boosters for both the archetype's low-level monsters and boss monsters. The "White Stone" monsters meanwhile can search out "Blue-Eyes" monsters if sent to the GY, and are commonly sent to GY by milling or discarding costs/effects from other cards. Their status as Level 1 Tuners lets them easily make archetypal and non-archetypal Level 9 Synchro boss monsters if summoned alongside a Level 8 "Blue-Eyes" monster.

"The Melody of Awakening Dragon" can search "Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon", off of the Spell Card's Discard effect as can "Dragon Shrine/Ravine", so that the Graveyard can be loaded with "Blue-Eyes" Monsters to be revived by "Silver's Cry" and "Return of the Dragon Lords".
+
The card attributes that surround "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" (Level 8, LIGHT, Dragon, Normal Monster) gives it a large amount of external support. Examples include "Trade-In", "The Melody of Awakening Dragon", "Dragon Shrine", "Dragon Ravine", "Silver's Cry", and "Return of the Dragon Lords". Though the archetype has no archetypal Xyz boss monsters, the archetype's ability to swarm Level 8 monsters enables easy Xyz Summons of powerful Rank 8 monsters, such as "Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy".

"The White Stone of Legend" needs another effect to Discard it and be able to use its Graveyard effect.  Whereas both the Monster cards "Master" and "Sage with Eyes of Blue" have effects to Special Summon any "Blue-Eyes" Monster from the Main Deck by either "Shuffles itself from the Graveyard to the Main Deck" ('Spinning to Deck' for short) or Discards itself.
+
Weaknesses
 +
* As an archetype that consists primarily of LIGHT and Dragon monsters, specific Attribute and typing counters, such as "Ally of Justice", "Light-Imprisoning Mirror" or "Bystial" monsters can significantly hamper the deck's performance.
 +
* As most of the key cards of this archtype are either high-level monsters or a low-level searchers with low stats, the player is likely to have dead draws or bricked hand that reduce the deck's consistency, if not unable to make any plays.

Structure Deck R: Revival of the Great Divine Dragon offers "Return of the Dragon Lords" and "Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand" for "Blue-Eyes" decks to have additional protection and revival effects and the combination off of "Dragon Shrine" to send "Arkbrave Dragon" with "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" or "Dragon Spirit of White" to the Graveyard and then revive the second mentioned. "Amorphage Goliath" can also be used but needs more than a one-card setup with just "Dragon Shrine".
+
Recommended cards
+
{{Decklist|Recommended cards
Shining Victories includes a new monster, "Dragon Spirit of White", who has the ability to banish an opponent's Spell or Trap Card whenever it is Normal Summoned or Special Summoned. It is also treated as a Normal Monster while in the hand or Graveyard, granting it synergy with cards like "Ancient Rules" and "Silver's Cry".
+
|normal monsters  =

"Dragon Spirit of White" also has a Synchro Monster counterpart called "Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon", who prevents both players from Special Summoning two or more monsters at the same time, locking down most Pendulum-based Decks. It also has the ability to negate any effect that would activate in the Graveyard once during either player's turn.

"Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon" can also can Tribute itself to Special Summon any LIGHT Dragon-Type Synchro Monster. The Synchro Monster must be used as a Material for another Summon or be able to protect itself to avoid being destroyed at the End Phase.

"Blue-Eyes Twin Burst Dragon" is a Fusion Monster that does not need a "Polymerization"-like card to be Fusion Summoned. It cannot be destroyed by battle, can attack Monsters twice during the Battle Phase and banishes any monster it attacks that is not destroyed by battle.

"Dragon's Mirror" is recommended for the Fusion Monster "Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon".  While it is the only face-up card you control, it can attack up to three times in the same turn by sending other copies of a "Blue-Eyes" Fusion Monster from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard. By sending extra copies of itself to the Graveyard, they will be there to protect any "Blue-Eyes" monster(s) from being targeted by effects by banishing themselves.

You can also use Trap and Spell cards that support LIGHT attribute monsters as virtually every Blue-Eyes monster is a LIGHT monster with few exceptions. Spell cards such as Shine Palace can support LIGHT monsters beyond Blue-Eyes or Dragons. LIGHT monsters such as Honest can easily boost the ATK of your already powerful dragons. Cards such as Beckoning Light and Light of Redemption can return your destroyed or banished Blue-Eyes monsters to your hand.

Weaknesses
Since most Blue-Eyes monsters are LIGHT monsters and Dragons, be cautious if your opponent uses DARK attribute or Fiend type monsters that in general negatively affect LIGHT monsters, and to the worst extent, the anti-LIGHT "Ally of Justice". Light-Imprisoning Mirror can be devastating to a Blue-Eyes deck by negating their effects. Leeching the Light can destroy even your strongest monsters. Also be aware of opponents that use anti Dragon support decks. As this could curtail your entire summoning strategy, relying on your dragons for the bulk of your high ATK monsters can leave you defenseless so high ATK monsters other than Dragons and Blue-Eyes can help. Add to your deck LIGHT monsters that can benefit your dragons. Keep Lord of Dragons in your deck to protect against card effects on the field. Your opponent may also try to mill your deck via depriving you of your Blue-Eyes monsters before they can be summoned. Monsters like Herald of Creation can return banished Blue-Eyes monsters to your hand. Cards like Dimension Fusion can Special Summon Blue-Eyes monsters from the banished zone to the field.

"Blue-Eyes" (ブルーアイズ Burūaizu) is an archetype of LIGHT Dragon monsters used by Seto Kaiba, Kaibaman, Paradox, and Roku. A mysterious woman named Kisara carries the spirit of the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" as revealed in both the anime and manga.

Though members have existed since the Starter Box: Theatrical Release in 1999, it only received its first explicit support with the with Eyes of Blue series.

Design[edit]

Most "Blue-Eyes" monsters closely resemble the original "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", as all monsters in this archetype are either retrained counterparts, downgraded, or upgraded forms of "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". The With Eyes of Blue monsters are based on the four people who carried the spirit of "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, included Kisara.

Playing style[edit]

The archetype's boss monsters can be broadly divided into four types by their card typing: Main Deck non-Ritual, Ritual, Fusion, and Synchro.

Weaknesses[edit]

 • As an archetype that consists primarily of LIGHT and Dragon monsters, specific Attribute and typing counters, such as "Ally of Justice", "Light-Imprisoning Mirror" or "Bystial" monsters can significantly hamper the deck's performance.
 • As most of the key cards of this archtype are either high-level monsters or a low-level searchers with low stats, the player is likely to have dead draws or bricked hand that reduce the deck's consistency, if not unable to make any plays.
