<u>Turn 3: Gore</u><br />

As a card or effect was activated that would change the ATK of exactly one monster on the field while Playmaker controls a Cyberse monster, he activates his face-down Trap "Cyberse Shatter", negating the ATK change, then drawing a card ("Gouki The Great Ogre": 5700 → 4900 ATK).

<u>Turn 3: Go Onizuka</u>
+
"Great Ogre" attacks and destroys "Cyberse Wizard" (Playmaker: 4000 → 100 LP).

Go Onizuka just Special Summoned "Headbutt Bat" and added 800 ATK to "Great Ogre". Playmaker activates his face-down Trap "Cyberse Shutter", as an effect is activated that would change the ATK of exactly one monster on the field, negating the activation of the effect and allowing Playmaker to draw one card ("Great Ogre": 5700 4900). "Great Ogre" attacks and destroys "Cyberse Wizard" (Playmaker: 4000 → 100 LP). The effect of "Twist Cobra" expires ("Great Ogre": 4900 2600).
+
<u>Turn 4: Playmaker</u><br />
 +
Playmaker Normal Summons "Draconnet" (1400/1200). The effect of "Great Ogre" decreases the ATK of all monsters on the field equal to their original DEF ("Draconnet": 1400 200 ATK). As "Draconnet" was Normal Summoned, Playmaker activates its effect, Special Summoning a Level 2 or lower Normal Monster from his hand or Deck in Defense Position. He Special Summons the Level 2 "Bitron" (200 → 0/2000) from his Deck. Playmaker sets "Bitron" in the Link Arrow to Link Summon "Link Spider" (1000/↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. Playmaker activates the effect of "Link Spider", Special Summoning a Level 4 or lower Normal Monster from his hand to his zone "Link Spider" points to. He Special Summons "Bitron" (200 0/2000) to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Link Spider" points to.

<u>Turn 4: Playmaker</u>
+
At this point, Playmaker enters the Data Storm. As Playmaker's LP is 1000 or less, he activates his Skill "Storm Access", accessing a Cyberse Link Monster at random from a nearby Data Storm and adding it to his Extra Deck. He obtains "Link Bumper" and adds it to his Extra Deck.

Playmaker draws. Playmaker Normal Summons "Draconnet". The effect of "Draconnet" activates. When it is Normal Summoned, Playmaker can Special Summon one Level 2 or lower Normal Monster from his hand or deck in Defense Position. Playmaker Special Summons "Bitron" (200/2000) in Defense Position. The effect of "Great Ogre" applies to "Bitron" ("Bitron": 200 → 0/2000).
+
Playmaker sets "Bitron" and "Linkslayer" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Link Bumper" (1400/←↑) to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Link Spider" points to. As Playmaker controls a Cyberse monster, he Special Summons "Backup Secretary" (1200 → 400/800) from his hand by its own effect. He Special Summons it in Defense Position. Playmaker sets "Backup Secretary" and "Draconnet" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Honeybot" (1900/←→) to the zone the middle-left Link Arrow of "Link Bumper" points to. Playmaker sets "Link Spider" and the Link-2 "Honeybot" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Decode Talker" (2300/↙↑↘) to the zone the middle-left Link Arrow of "Link Bumper" points to. Playmaker activates the Equip Spell "Cyberse Annihilation", equipping it to "Decode Talker". If the equipped "Decode Talker" battles Gore's monster, the effect of "Cyberse Annihilation" makes the ATK of "Decode Talker" become equal to the ATK of the monster it is battling during damage calculation only. Playmaker activates the effect of "Cyberse Shatter" in his GY, banish it then targeting a Link-2 or lower Cyberse monster in his GY to Special Summon it. He targets and Special Summons the Link-2 "Honeybot" (1900/←→) such that its middle-right Link Arrow points to "Decode Talker".

Playmaker uses "Bitron" to Link Summon "Link Spider" (1000/LINK-1/↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. Playmaker activates the effect of "Link Spider", to Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Normal Monster from his hand to a zone "Link Spider" points to. Playmaker Special Summons a second copy of "Bitron" from his hand to the Bottom Link Point of "Link Spider" (200/2000). The effect of "Great Ogre" applies (but is not shown) ("Bitron": 200 → 0/2000).
+
"Decode Talker" attacks "Great Ogre" ("Decode Talker": 2300 → 2600 ATK). The effect of "Honeybot" prevents either player from targeting monsters it points to with card effects, also those monsters cannot be destroyed by battle. "Decode Talker" at the zone the middle-right Link Arrow "Honeybot" points to is not destroyed. As "Great Ogre" would be destroyed by battle or card effect, its effect allows Gore to destroy one of his monsters "Great Ogre" points to instead. He destroys "Headbatt" at the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Great Ogre" points to. The attack continues and neither monster is destroyed. As "Headbatt" was sent from the field to the GY, Gore activates its effect, adding a different "Gouki" card from his Deck to his hand. He adds "Gouki Re-Match". At the end of the Damage Step, as Playmaker's monster "Link Bumper" points to attacked Gore's Link Monster, Playmaker activates its effect, allowing the monster that attacked to attack an additional time on Gore's Link Monster during this Battle Phase for each Link Monster Playmaker currently controls other than "Link Bumper", but his monsters cannot attack the turn he activates this effect, except that monster. Playmaker controls "Decode Talker" and "Honeybot", so "Decode Talker" gains two additional attacks. "Decode Talker" attacks "Great Ogre" ("Decode Talker": 2300 2600 ATK). As "Great Ogre" would be destroyed by battle, Gore destroys "Gouki Twistcobra" at the zone the bottom-left Link Arrow of "Great Ogre" points to instead. The attack continues and neither monster is destroyed. As "Twistcobra" was sent from the field to the GY, Gore activates its effect, adding a different "Gouki" card from his Deck to his hand. He adds "Gouki Suprex". "Decode Talker" attacks ("Decode Talker": 2300 → 2600 ATK) and destroys "Great Ogre". As the equipped "Decode Talker" destroyed a monster by battle, the effect of "Cyberse Annihilation" activates, inflicting damage to the controller equal to the ATK the destroyed monster had on the field (Gore: 2000 → 0 LP).

Playmaker activates his Skill "Storm Access" which allows him to randomly access a card from a Data Storm when his LP is 1000 or less. Playmaker obtains either "Honeybot" or "Link Bumper" (unable to tell which one at this point) and adds it to his Extra Deck.

Playmaker uses "Bitron" and "Linkslayer" to Link Summon "Link Bumper" (1400/LINK-2/↑←) to the Bottom Link Point of "Link Spider". As Playmaker controls a Cyberse-Type Monster, he Special Summons "Backup Secretary" (1200/800) by its own effect in Defense Position. The effect of "Great Ogre" applies (but is not shown) ("Backup Secretary": 1200 400/800). Playmaker then uses "Draconnet" and "Backup Secretary" to Link Summon "Honeybot" (1900/LINK-2/←→) to the Left Link Point of "Link Bumper".

Playmaker then uses "Link Spider" and "Honeybot" to Link Summon "Decode Talker" (2300/LINK-3/↑↙↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. Playmaker then equips "Decode Talker" with the Equip Spell "Cyberse Annihilation". Now, if Decode Talker attacks one of Go's monsters, it gains attack equal to that monster's ATK during damage calculation, also if Decode Talker destroys a monster by battle, Playmaker inflicts damage equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster to the controller of said monster.

"Down for the Count", known as "The Three Count Rings" in the Japanese version, is the fifth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime. It first aired in Japan on June 7, 2017, became available with official subtitles via Crunchyroll on the same day, and aired in Canada on September 15, 2018.

The Gore carries out his Duel in a manner similar to Pro-Wrestling, using Dueling as a means to entertain the audience. Playmaker seems to be interested in this playstyle, which is different from his calm and calculated playstyle. As if acknowledging the Gore's Dueling, Playmaker Summons "Decode Talker", despite taking a huge amount of damage. And thus, the two’s ace monsters clash!

Featured Duel: Playmaker vs. The Gore[edit]

Duel continues from the previous episode.

Playmaker has 4000 LP and controls "Linkslayer" (1400/600) and "Cyberse Wizard" (1000/800), both in Attack Position, and has 1 Set card in his Spell & Trap Zone. Gore has 2000 LP and controls "Gouki The Great Ogre" (4900 → 5700/↙↓↘) in his right-hand Extra Monster Zone, as well as "Gouki Headbatt" (800/0) and "Gouki Twistcobra" (1600/0), both in Defense Position, in the bottom-center and bottom-left Link Arrows of "Great Ogre", respectively. Gore has just increased the ATK of "Great Ogre" by 800, by the effect of "Headbatt".

Turn 3: Gore
As a card or effect was activated that would change the ATK of exactly one monster on the field while Playmaker controls a Cyberse monster, he activates his face-down Trap "Cyberse Shatter", negating the ATK change, then drawing a card[Note 1] ("Gouki The Great Ogre": 5700 → 4900 ATK).

"Great Ogre" attacks and destroys "Cyberse Wizard" (Playmaker: 4000 → 100 LP).

Turn 4: Playmaker
Playmaker Normal Summons "Draconnet" (1400/1200). The effect of "Great Ogre" decreases the ATK of all monsters on the field equal to their original DEF ("Draconnet": 1400 → 200 ATK). He Special Summons "Bitron" (200 → 0/2000) to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Link Spider" points to.

"Decode Talker" attacks "Great Ogre" ("Decode Talker": 2300 → 2600 ATK).

Errors[edit]

 1. Even though the card text says it negates the activation of that card or effect, it only prevented the monster's ATK from being changed without negating the entire activation. Any other parts that effect had that were not related to the ATK change still took place.
