in need of an opinion( please~ )[edit]

i'm running a Gravekeeper deck which is currently built around beatdown/aggro style (u can see it named under Gravekeeping at my page if u're interested). After a few duel i noticed mine is quite weak against synchro based decks which abuse monsters like Black Rose Dragon or Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, those that play heavy spell/trap destruction ability like playing 3Dust Tornado+2Mystical Space Typhoon in 1 deck and those that recycle monsters in graveyard via its own effect like Level Eater or Treeborn Frog despite the presence of Necrovalley. I was then advised to give up my original theme which is their so-called 'outdated' Gravekeeper-only beatdown deck and move on to synchro-based gravekeeper deck which would most likely force me to remove Solidarity from the deck and turn the deck from Beatdown/Aggro to Meta. So what i wanted to ask is, is there no future for Gravekeeper-only beatdown deck and should i turn to other style if i were to continue in Gravekeeper?--Tommy666 1136hr, 1st April 2011 (UTC)

I closed Decks for Free so that you and the other deckbuilders have some time to catch up. If you want to, you can send some of them messages to see if they are still interested in creating decks for the page. If they happen to say no, then just change the tag next to their name to say "retired", like Tantara's. Which Deck?[edit]

Hi there. I recently asked on DFF about an anti-meta deck for $100 or so and was told to go with a Gravekeeper's anti-meta in the archives. The only problem is I'm not sure if that meant [2] or [3]. The 1st doesn't have that much GK and the 2nd doesn't seem all that anti-meta. Both do look good though! =) So, which do you prefer, and what would you use in place of 2 Book of Moon? RE: How it Works[edit]

Well, I never intended to use Superancient Deepsea King as Synchro material. Instead I thought of: Deepsea Effect=> Borg, Borg, Gold, Gold. Gold + Borg = Android and Justice. So, then the field would be Deepsea, Justice, Andriod. Then use Borg to SS form grave using Ronintoadin and Borg to Synch Formula, so field would be: Deepsea, Justice, Andriod, Borg, toad. Borg + toad = Formuala + Roid + Justice = Shooting Quasar Dragon. The deck might be a little inconsistent, now that I think about it. Nah. Plant Engine is kind of expensive and unnecessary. Having only one Armed Dragon LV3 and two LV5 means that they'll be pretty useless. Imperial Iron Wall is necessary for the loop-it stops Dimensional Prison and makes Bottomless useless.BobaFett2 (talk)

Hey Resk, can you just answer a question I have about the OTK? Its says on the that you only need to have Boarden, Boomboxen, and Radion to perform the OTK, but I checked the damage and it only comes out to 7100, or did I miss something? Extermination can be better than MST in a Decree build since it gets rid of a few Trap cards. King of the Swamp searches for Polymerization and allows for you to summon Gungnir with Debris-also, you need to be able to draw Polymerization and that's the most consistent way. I took out Totem Dragon and added other Dragons. I really don't think that the space for the Frog engine will help so I suggest you post your own version and he can choose.BobaFett2 (talk)

Rhynos is a Beast-Warrior (no Solidarity which is what makes the deck work). I don't know about Birdman, I made it Anti-Meta style and Divine Wind is mostly just helpful, not the main focus. I didn't actually say to use Battlestorm, I just listed him under possible cards. Darkspear just doesn't seem necessary and doesn't allow you to use Solidarity.BobaFett2 (talk)

So, the limit on the number of templates in on a page seems to be 141. I was also thinking to reorganize the Deck Galleries in some form. Since the new Gallery I created for H-J, doesn't have a contents box. Can you think of any way to reorganize the system? All I could come up with was 5 Letters in each Gallery. Rainbow Dark Dragon is baaaad. But I have it. Because it looks totally awesome. Anyhoooooow. I see a HUGE issue with the deck. First, Rainbow Dark Dragon requires 7 DARK monsters. You need a LOT more. Next, you should have three of the key card since there's no way to search for it. Mm....I'm not sure...ugh...maybe if there were DARKsworns...ah! Emergency Teleport and three Krebons. I'm really at a loss. Dark Armed Dragon is one thing, Rainbow Dark is another. And I'm thinking Resk, give another task to Antichrist, and we 3 just do this one together. Just so you know, I played a deck on DN today that summoned Rainbow Neos using Rainbow Dark. He used Prisma, tough King of the swamps fills that up, but Prisma gets it to grave to fuel another RDD or DAD. The Veil of Darkness thing might work, but the fusion support rip it out of the ground, before it can get roots. Vennominaga Deck[edit]

Sorry you guys, I wasn't able to get on wikia the past two days for some reason but I fully tested this deck out and I actually really like it. I can get consistent wins over tier 2 and lower and am able to get out the king at least every other match and Vennominaga isn't too hard after that assuming your opponent isn't out of life points yet. Anyways, hope you guys like it.

Vennominaga Deck Questions[edit]

Thanks for asking. I suppose I will go right in order. What would you consider your main targets for Gold Sarcophagus? Well, I have to say that I like putting Gold Sarcophagus in certain decks that I feel lack searching power. This is VERY situational. About 60% of the time, my target is Reptilianne Naga because of her inviniciblity and often a very good option to go to to delay for a turn at least and get a monster’s attack dropped to zero, effectively setting up for Reptilianne Viper or Reptilianne Scylla’s effects to kick in and grab me an extra monster to sacrifice or do what I want with. Also, this combo often helps you get a quick Reptilianne Vaskii as you can sacrifice your Reptilianne Naga and the other player’s monster. It can also grab you a quick Reptilianne Hydra if your opponent happens to hit you with a level 4 monster and you have Reptilianne Viper in your hand. However, I also go for Swords of Revealing Light about 20% of the time for obvious reasons. If the time seems right and I only have one of either Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes or Rise of the Snake Deity, I might grab the other one. However, I normally don’t do so as my opponent would see my combo early and try to cut it short at all costs. Of course, I do go for other things too, but I’d say that these are my main targets.

Was there a preference for Lightning Vortex over similar cards? Ummm… I do prefer to put Lightning Vortex in instead of similar cards that destroys a numerous amount of monsters at a time for a few reasons. For example, Mirror Force requires an attack and has to be laid down first as it is a trap. This is practically a one turn delay as opposed to Lightning Vortex which is instantaneous. Also, the cost can sometimes help your game out. An obvious example is a combo with Monster Reborn. I’ve gotten Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes on before with this combo although it doesn’t happen very often. In short, there isn’t an extremely dominant reason that I put Lightning Vortex in instead of other cards.

I don’t quite get your third question 100% but if I’m right you’re asking for my main method of summoning Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes and not Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes. In this case, I don’t really have a main method. Again, I’m one of those deckbuilders who builds very versatile decks so I’m not shut down by a Prohibition or something. I suppose I can give you a few common cases I look for to summon him. You can summon him pretty easily by stealing monsters with Reptilianne Scylla by lowering their ATK with Reptilianne Gorgon or Reptilianne Naga. We also have the combo with Swords of Revealing Light. This is very straightforward. If you have both cards in your hand and a few level 4 and lower monsters, just pop Swords of Revealing Light up to keep summoning those monsters out and get 2 on before you let out Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes. Obviously, if you send him to the graveyard, it’s also possible to summon him with Monster Reborn. Out of these options, I find the first one to be the easiest while the other methods a little less common but a Gold Sarcophagus can fix things up if you can wait out for 2 turns. Now if you meant summoning Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes, then I have to say that most of the time it either involves a battle where you take the hit (obviously your king has to be the one being destroyed) and playing Rise of the Snake Diety. There are many other way to summon him however. I have used Offering to the Snake Deity on Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes many times before and since the trap conveniently says “destroy”, you can trigger Rise of the Snake Deity. Really though, once you have a Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes out with a Rise of the Snake Deity, you practically got the duel in the bag unless you low on LP or your king gets returned to your hand or your trap gets Mystical Space Typhooned or something like that.

Help, need ideas[edit]

Ok, so I'm completely stuck on that Vylon build, have any idea whatsoever? Seriously, most of them are too weak to stand a good chance of a fight. I'd throw in more protective traps like D-Prison/Comp E VAC Device, but they need some type of Equip Spells. Geez, have any idea? New Archive System[edit]

So you'll probably notice that Archive 10 went under Archive 1, reason? 10 is before 2, so I've asked a few Admins for YGO Wikia, Falzer, Dinoguy, and D-Neos, D-Neos says to create a new manual system, that we can edit at any given time. New Archive/Gallery Look[edit]

So I got rid of the old {{ArchiveList}}, and added a new Template under a new section. Personally I think the "new system" (even though its not really a system), is a lot simpler and cleaner, anyway I'm pretty sure you know how to create a Archive 11,12,13, etc. Just an announcement that the New Archives are completed. I'm planning to make a deck like the one I gave to that poster, so what would be better, 3 Fusion Gate, 1 Terraforming, 2 Parallel World, and 1 Miracle, or 3 Miracle and 2 Parallel? First Deck Done![edit]

Ok so the test you gave me was a bit of a challange but i think i finally got something. The deck seems to play test good but ill let you be the judge of that. Here it is,

Terminal Time Garden

Ok so there was a few problems to overcome when making this deck. Number one was the difficulty to get both terminal World and Timeater into the hand. I solved this partially with Gold Sarcophagus to add them to the hand but even then that only partially solves the problem. The chances of getting atleast 2 Gold Sarcophagus is slim but i helped my odds by adding in cards that help thin the deckand draw cards, namely Blackwing monsters, Terraforming, Tengu and Allure of Darkness.

Problem number 2 that i ran into is the difficulty to get Timeater onto the field since it's a Lv. 6 monster. I solved this with self-replicating cards like Reborn Tengu and with Black Garden. When your opponent plays a monster, you get a Rose token with no drawbacks other than being in ATK position. Not only does this give you a card as tribute fodder but it can also help to stop OTK's, one thing that this deck is weak against.

Problem number 3 was the fact that you need your opponent to have constent field presence to keep the lockdown running and unless they have self-replicating like Reborn Tengu on the field and even then they may not choose to summon the monster, leaving you with less options for the Lockdown. I solved this again with Black Garden. All you would need to do is summon a monster once per turn and you can summon a token on their side of the field, attack it with your Timeater and keep the lockdown going.

The final Problem i faced was "What happens if my Timeater is beaten before i get my lockdown running?" Well if it happens, the deck has a fall back plan. Plan number one is using the Blackwings for Synchroing power. With this, you can make a quick comeback if your lockdown fails. I also added in Meklord Emperor Wisel to help if i run into a premature Mirror Force, giving me another quick comeback and giving me some protection from cards such as Heavy Storm and Mystical Space Typhoon.

Chaos Infinity seems like a really bad card. I'd drop both. I have never liked Avarice in Morphtronics. I hated One for One when I was running it, I've since dropped it. If you're going for level 4s Slingen is probably better than Boomboxen. Personally I'd prioritize them: 1. Radion, 2. Slingen, 3. Boomboxen, except in Morphtronic OTK, which this doesn't appear to be. I really think 3 Scopen is necessary, I'm always happy to have him and if I could I'd probably run 4 or 5 =P One card that I've begun to think is underrated is Morphtronic Accelerator. It's like Pot of Duality for the deck. It takes bad hands and makes them good. I don't even care about the destruction effect sometimes, it just consistently turns bad opening hands into broken ones.

Long story short: -2 Chaos Infinity, -1 Avarice, -1 One for One, -2 Boomboxen. +2 Slingen, +1 Scopen, +1 Accelerator, and +1 or 2 good cards or leave the deck at 40. That's my opinion. Lappyzard (talk • contribs) 01:54, September 11, 2011 (UTC)

Not really. Three Aklys is ridiculous-I have used it's effect once in ~20 duels. Three Phalanx is cool but there's not much room for it and it's expensive. That means there's not enough Dragons for Drago. It also means that there aren't enough targets for Cards of Consonance. I'd rather run Duality over Upstart Goblin, but I find the Trap lineup to be too small: without at least two Veilers and a Gorz, I need a larger lineup. Starlight Road is useless, as Dragon Ravine allows me to search for new monsters each turn (making Torrential Tribute, Dark Hole, and Mirror Force a non-issue), while Storm is deadly-Dark Bribe is better for the deck. Icarus Attack is not worthwhile-I'd rather Synchro Summon, and it only works after using Aklys' with Legionnaire or getting Veiler'd. Sorry, the deck just doesn't make sense to me. Also, Reborn Tengu is amazing for the deck. Otherwise, Pot of Avarice isn't that useful. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 12:55, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

The decks has several ways of accomplishing this from Foolish Burial to Armageddon Knight. If LPD was used for the synchro summon of Black Rose Dragon, I agree it would miss the timing. But if Black Rose is summoned WITHOUT LPD, as i said on my tip, then Black Rose activates its effect, destroying all cards on the field. I was listing my case, not directly responding to anyone. Back on that note, I feel I need to list what my experience states are "elitists" and "elitist cards":

Elitists, as I've said, have the annoying tendency to continue to push their suggestions on people, regardless of how many times they explain why they aren't taking it. For example, I've explained several times why Offerings to the Doomed works for me to several people, yet those same people still keep on insisting that i use something else.

As for the "elitist cards", that's easier to explain; almost always when they suggest a card or deck to play, it's always a card or deck from a cookie-cutter tournament deck; Smashing Ground, for instance, is always the card people insist I use other than Offerings. It's like they're stuck in the mentality that only the cards that have shown up in tournament-winning decks are the only good cards out of the bunch, which is why I admonish them for suggesting them, especially when I've settled on something else. They don't know how to think outside of those particular cards, which is a very elitist attitude in my experience, which is why I keep on getting into arguments over it with them.

Interestingly enough, when they DON'T do that kind of crap, and DO suggest other, less well-known cards, or back off when I put my foot down on a suggestion, things go a lot smoother and there are far less arguments (for instance, right now I'm doing better discussing cards for my X-Saber deck with SM10, because of how he's following my "restrictions" and coming up with new ideas that aren't from tournament decks that I haven't thought about, before), but it's when they basically keep hammering home "This deck/card sucks, use this tournament deck/card, it's the best out of the business", no matter how many times I explain to them why I'm refusing, that trouble starts brewing between me and them. An Update on things we planned to add to DFF:

1: We have a backlog of requests again, so is there any way you guys could be on more/comment more on DFF Applicants, so we can hire new people? Also, what do you guys think about possibly taking on "Deckbuilder Apprentices"? They would just be people who applied and that we personally think would have potential later? Help them out, tutor them as we move along, and just overall act as teachers.

2: We have a huge backlog of Decks in the Archive that should be moved into the Galleries, so why not hire people to specifically move the Decks into the Galleries?

Decks for Free! Resignation[edit]

Before you read the below, I need you to understand that I love DFF, but I really want to help do other things here on wiki. A lot of great and informative projects have slowed down over the last few years, including DFF.

It wasn't easy to come to this decision, but I want to leave Decks for Free! It was fun while it lasted, but I want to focus on other projects here on wiki, and Decks for Free! just takes up too much of my time. I would still like to help keep the page neat and act more or less like a stationary design team, but other than that I need to do some other stuff.

I'll also take care of any issues that arise with any of the decks I've made for some of the requests currently on the page. I'd just like to be informed of any issues that should arise.
