Zane Truesdale, known as Ryo Marufuji (丸藤 亮, Marufuji Ryō) is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force video game series. This is a video game depiction of Zane Truesdale, a character from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime.
Zane is one of the seven Tier 1 characters the player can team up with for the Tag Force tournament in Part 2. Maxing out Zane's relationship with the player earns him a copy of "Power Bond".
During Part 2, Zane partners with Syrus during the Tag Force tournament if not partnered with the player. During Part 3, he will Duel the player and their partner alongside with the Shadow Rider Camula.
Tag Force 2
Zane is a Tier 2 character, unlocked as an opponent in the overworld by finishing Syrus' story.
Tag Force 3
Zane is once again a Tier 1 character, with two possible storylines. His Obelisk Blue storyline is unlocked by finishing his normal story first.
Zane is the Academy's top duelist. He earned the nickname "Kaiser" for his amazing skill.
He is always number one in academics and training - truly a model representative of Duel Academy.
Zane doesn't talk much, so people tend to think he is cold and dispassionate. But those who make an effort to be his friend eventually see a different side. Get close to him and he can be a very warm, compassionate person.
Zane loves to use Cyber Dragon cards, which make for a powerful duel - befitting of the name "Kaiser".
One of his specialties is the use of "Power Bond" for a powerful single attack.
He believes that taking great effort to respect your opponent during a duel is more important than winning.
Zane pours all of his strength into each and every duel - never taking an opponent lightly.
He gets along well with anyone who proves a worthy opponent.
His appearance, personality and abilities naturally make him popular with the female students - most popular, in fact.
Girls would line up for blocks to be his prom date (if the Academy actually had a prom).
Zane enjoys simple foods.
Tag Force 2
Graduate of Duel Academy and pro duelist.
After graduating as head of Duel Academy, Zane went on to enter the Pro Circuit.
When he first became a pro, he performed well and his respective style of dueling helped make him extremely popular.
His rankings were raising high, but when he lost to Aster Phoenix, he entered a slump.
Out of form, Zane lost duel after duel and his contract with his sponsor was terminated. At this time a suspicious man scouted him into "Underground Dueling", a dangerous form of entertainment with excessive effects such as players receiving electric shocks when they take damage. (Not like players don't look like they are in pain when receiving damage during a normal duel...)
The pain of the underground duels pushes Zane over the edge.
Up until this point, he had respected his opponent, regardless of the outcome of the duel, but the feeling that winning was a matter of life or death began to grow inside of him. He started to care only about "winning" and became what people call "Dark Zane".
After heading back to the Pro Circuit, and taking on sort of a villain's role, he began to climb back up in the rankings.
The transformation into "Dark Zane" was so extreme that one would think that he was either brainwashed, or being controlled by some dark being. This sort of transformation, which came from within, is considered to be extremely rare.
Zane's younger brother Syrus, the school nurse Ms. Fonte, and his friend Atticus have all been trying to help him return to his old self but have yet to succeed. He isn't being controlled by something evil, so at this point he isn't harmful to anyone.
Noteworthy is his new belt, which has his initial carved into the buckle.
The Academy's top duelist. His strength led many to nickname him "Kaiser".
He always has the best grades in written tests and practical exams, making him an ideal representative of the Academy.
His quiet behavior makes people think he is cold, but those who get close to him realize he is actually very cordial and caring.
He loves using Cyber Dragon cards, and their power certainly fits someone nicknamed Kaiser.
One of his specialties is to end duels in a single attack using "Power Bond".
Believes respecting one's opponent and giving one's all are more important than winning or losing.
He gives his all whenever he duels, no matter who his opponent is.
If someone can match up to him in a duel, he will be friendly towards them.
Because of his looks, personality and skills, he is also most popular among the girls.
One could easily imagine there could be a competition during his graduation ceremony to see who earns a second button from him.
(Not that he has a second button in the first place...)
He prefers simple foods.
Tag Force 2
Professional duelist graduated from Duel Academy.
After graduating from Duel Academy as its best student, he entered the Professional League.
Things went well for him at first, as his respectful style of dueling made him very popular. He was climbing up the rankings steadily, but he lost a duel to Ed Phoenix and then fell into a slump.
Out of form and being unable to break his losing streak, his contract was cancelled, and a suspicious man scouted him into "Underground Duels".
Being on the receiving end of brutal physical pain drove him over the edge.
Up until this point, he had sticked to his beliefs of giving his all while respecting his opponents, but in the face of the prospect of dying if he lost, an all-consuming desire to win awoke from within him, and he turned into "Hell Kaiser".
It was originally thought his personality changed due to being brainwashed or possessed, but he changed out of his own volition.
He has not been doing anything evil since becoming Hell Kaiser, however. He only conducts normal duels with other people, so he is not hurting anyone and he is not dangerous.
His biggest selling point nowadays is his new belt, which has his initial attached to the buckle.
Tag Force Special
A third-year Obelisk Blue student.
A perfect young man who is the best at both written tests and practical examinations.
His fellow students refer to him as the emperor of Duel Academy, and nicknamed him "Kaiser".
A person who always respects his opponents from the bottom of his heart, and the graduating student chosen to partake in the ceremonial graduation duel.
He has decided he will go pro after graduating.
Sho Marufuji is actually his younger brother, but they have been estranged ever since he began attending Duel Academy.
He is harsh about his younger brother's dueling, but he does care about him and watches him improve from afar.
He is also a close friend and rival of Tenjoin Fubuki. While Fubuki was gone, he helped his younger sister Asuka Tenjoin look for him.
He duels using "Cyber-Style" Decks, using Machine-Type monsters whose appearance resembles that of Dragons.
His ace monster is "Cyber End Dragon", the emblem of the Cyber Style Dojo which he has been part of for many years, and whose card is only handed down to those who have fully mastered the Cyber Style in body, heart and technique.
