Etymology
He is named after the Greek god of the sun, suiting for a "guardian of the sun".
Biography
When Yugo arrived at the top of the tower, Apollo told Yugo to Duel if he wanted to rescue Rin. He Fusion Summoned "Sun Protector", activating its effect to Special Summon a "Protector's Shield Token" and Set a card. When Yugo brought out "Template:Anime", Apollo activated "Protector Adoration" to negate its effects, Special Summon two "Protector Shield Tokens", and force "Clear Wing" to attack all "Protector's Shield Tokens" or be destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase. When Yugo destroyed all "Protector's Shield Tokens", Apollo activated the effect of "Sun Protector" to decrease the ATK of "Clear Wing" and Yugo's LP by 800 for each destroyed Token. As Apollo reduced the ATK of "Clear Wing" to 100, he wondered if there was any point for it on the field until Yugo brought out "Template:Anime". He was then defeated when Yugo used a combination of "Speedroid OMK Gum" and the effect of "Crystal Wing" to increase its ATK to destroy "Sun Protector".[1]
Deck
Apollo uses a "Fusion Summon" Deck centered on Fusion Summoning "Sun Protector". His strategy revolves around creating "Protector's Shield Token" monsters through "Sun Protector's" effect and through "Protector Adoration" which keeps "Sun Protector" from harm. With "Protector Adoration" he's capable of nullifying his opponent's ace monsters effects while forcing them to attack the "Shield Tokens" or they risk getting that monster destroyed, in turn destroying the tokens causes the monster to become substantially weaker while reducing its controller's Lifepoints, thus putting his opponents in a difficult position. Unlike Diana, Apollo's monster inflicts effect damage.
