Ethan (イーサン, Īsan) is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime. He is an elite student of Duel Academy in the Fusion Dimension.

Ethan has green-brown hair and freckles and wears the standard blue variation of the Duel Academy student uniform.

Ethan initially appears to be as eager as his fellow students to engage the Lancers and please Sanders, but he is easily discouraged by the watching Battle Beast, fleeing from him in terror rather than face him in a Duel. At the same time, his pride is easily wounded.

Heartland City[edit]

Ethan was selected by Sanders to take part in a Survival Duel alongside Bernie, Jacob, Emma, and Ted against the captured Lancers Yuya Sakaki, Gong Strong, Crow Hogan and Moon Shadow. Sanders deployed Bernie and his fellow students into the "Predaprimal Jungle", and Ethan rushed into the jungle, planning to defeat the Lancers first. He found Yuya, Gong, Sylvio and Crow around the card that contained the defeated Bernie, fleeing from them in terror pursued by Sylvio. He ran into Ted, desperately checking that they weren't Dueling one another until they had defeated the Lancers, admitting that he had fled from them. Ted mocked him after he realized that the losers would be turned into cards, and claimed that he would defeat the Lancers himself. Incensed, Ethan told Ted to wait for him. However, he later encountered the Battle Beast, and he threw his Deck at him, screaming at him to leave him alone, but all this accomplished was leaving him defenseless as the Battle Beast sealed him into a card, which Yuya and Gong later found.

Duel Academy[edit]

After Z-ARC's defeat, Ethan was freed from his card.[2]

Ethan plays an "Ancient Gear" Deck. Though not shown Dueling, his cards were shown when he threw his Deck at the Battle Beast in fear.

Despite the limit for copies of the same card being three per Deck, Ethan's thrown Deck is shown to contain four copies of "Harpie's Feather Duster".
