Duel continues from the previous episode.
The episode begins with Robin ending his turn. Yuma looks at the Numbers monster, Galaxy Queen, and sees how the evil inside it has changed the once-timid Fuya into the character he portrays, ESPer Robin. With his D-Gazer's online network, Yuma calls Kotori and tells her to bring Fuya's mother to the site of the Duel. Yuma proclares that he will save Fuya, with a "Kattobingu daze, ore!". Astral informs Yuma that ESPer Star Robin will deal piercing damage unless they can call out Aspiring Emperor Hope. To summon him, Yuma has to draw a Level 4 monster... and he does! He summons Gagaga Magician and Special Summons the Shadow Lizard with it's own effect. He then overlays his two monsters to construct the Overlay Network! Exceed Summon: No. 39 Aspiring Emperor Hope! Then, for some reason, Yuma and Astral begin an argument about Dueling for someone else's sake. Finally, Yuma attacks Robin's Puman with Hope, but Robin activates Wings of Unity, which negates Yuma's attack, and Special Summons Phoenix Beast Galeruda. Galeruda's effect activates, letting Robin draw one card, and Yuma ends his turn with a face-down card. Robin draws, and with his monsters effects, summons forth Ironhammer, which has a DEF of 3500, to Yuma's dismay. Just then, Kotori shows up with Tetsuo and Fuya's mother. Fuya's mother tries to talk to him, but he brushes her off. The Duel continues. Robin detaches an overlay unit from Galaxy Queen, giving all his monsters piercing ability. He attacks with Galeruda, whose effect gives it 300 more ATK, but Yuma activates Hope's effect, detaching an overlay unit to negate the attack. Robin attacks with Star Robin, but Yuma activates Hope's effect again. Robin activates Ironhammer's effect, letting Puman attack Yuma directly (Yuma LP: 800). Yuma activates the Trap card, Regretful Complaint, taking control of Ironhammer until Robin's next turn. Robin places a face-down card. With the damage Yuma has taken, Astral starts fading away. Yuma draws and activates Attack Regulation, preventing Robin's attacks while he controls 3 or more monsters. He sets two cards face-down and ends his turn, and then Ironhammer returns to Robin's field. Fuya's mother pleads with Robin, but he tells her to shut up and that he is no longer her pawn. Robin activates Jet Iron Change, releasing all of his non-Exceed monsters to Special Summon D.D. Jet Iron! It's effect gives it 8000 ATK, which Yuma responds to with the Trap Burning Fighting Spirit, doubling Hope's ATK. Robin attacks Yuma's monster, but Yuma activates Secret Cyclone, destroying Cursed Seal of Dead Max. He then activates Murder Method - Vector Change, switching D.D. Jet Iron to DEF mode and Galaxy Queen to ATK mode. Robin places one face-down card, and it's now Yuma's turn. Yuma and Astral debate whether the attack will go through, and they finally decide that they must, if they want to free Fuya. With a "Kattobingu da, ore!", Yuma attacks Galaxy Queen with Hope, "Hope Sword Slash!", but Robin has one last Trap: Star Robin is Forever!, reviving ESPer Star Robin with zero ATK, but it is still obliterated and so is Robin's Life. Astral absorbs the Number 83 from Robin's (now Fuya's) body. Fuya reunites with his mother, and later, Yuma, Kotori and Tetsuo are walking on a bridge talking about the day's events. When Yuma and Kotori get into an argument, Shark rides by on a motorcycle and observes them. Later, Yuma and Astral watch the conclusion of the ESPer Robin show, and Astral makes Observation No. 10 - "The parent-child relationship is something I understand". Astral remembers something: when he was born, he was sent to Earth to protect it.

Nelson activates the effect of "Ironhammer" to target "Beast-Warrior Puma" (as its Level is at most 4) and let it attack directly this turn. "Beast-Warrior Puma" then attacks directly (Yuma: 2400 → 800 LP). As Yuma took battle damage from a direct attack, he activates "Heartfelt Appeal" to take control of "Ironhammer" (as its DEF was the highest of all the monsters Nelson controls). Nelson Sets a card.
Fuya Special Summons "Ironhammer the Iron Giant" (900/3500) in Defense Position as controls a "D.D. ESPer Star Robin", "Bestial Warrior Puman" and "Phoenix Beast Galeruda". Fuya detaches one of the  "Tri-Star Trions" overlaid with "Number 83: Galaxy Queen" to activates its effect, letting all of his monsters inflict piercing damage and become immune to being destroyed by battle until Yuma's next End Phase. Fuya attacks "Utopia" with "Galeruda", with the effect of the latter card activating, increasing its ATK by 300 during the Damage Step. Yuma activates the effect of "Utopia", detaching an Overlay Unit to negate the attack. Fuya attacks "Utopia" with "D.D. ESPer Star Robin", but Yuma detaches the other Overlay Unit to negate the attack. Fuya activates the effect of "Ironhammer", letting the Level 4 "Puman" attack directly (Yuma 2400 → 800). Yuma activates his face-down "Regretful Complaint", taking control of "Ironhammer" since he took a direct attack. Fuya Sets a card.

"The Sparrow, Part 2", known as "Star Robin Forever" in the Japanese version, is the eighth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime. It first aired in Japan on May 30, 2011 and in the United States on December 3, 2011.

Yuma's Duel against the Sparrow continues. The Sparrow continues to overpower Yuma with more characters from his TV show. However, Astral, who is aware of the characters' ultimate combination, plans a reversal to win the Duel.

Featured Duel: Yuma Tsukumo vs Nelson Andrews/The Sparrow[edit]

Duel continues from the previous episode.

Yuma Tsukumo has 2400 LP and controls 1 Set card in his Spell & Trap Zone. Nelson Andrews has 4000 LP and controls "Beast-Warrior Puma" (1600/1000), "Esper Star Sparrow" (3000/1500), and "Number 83: Galaxy Queen" (500/500, ORU: 2) ("Puma" and "Star Sparrow" are in Attack Position, "Galaxy Queen" is in Defense Position), as well as "Furious Max's Curse" (equipped to "Galaxy Queen") and 1 Set card in his Spell & Trap Zones.

Turn 4: Yuma
Yuma's hand contains "Reserve Cyclone", "Heartfelt Appeal", "Attraffic Control" and "Gagaga Magician". Yuma draws "Kagetokage". Yuma Normal Summons "Gagaga Magician" (CG Star.svg4/1500/1000) in Attack Position. As he Normal Summoned a monster, Yuma Special Summons "Kagetokage" (CG Star.svg4/1100/1500) from his hand in Attack Position via its own effect. Yuma overlays "Gagaga Magician" and "Kagetokage" in order to Xyz Summon "Number 39: Utopia" (Rank Star.svg4/2500/2000, ORU: 2) in Attack Position.

"Utopia" attacks "Beast-Warrior Puma", but Nelson activates his face-down "Wings of Unity" to negate the attack and Special Summon "Phoenix Beast Gairuda" (CG Star.svg6/2500/1200) from his Deck in Attack Position as he controls "Esper Star Sparrow". As "Gairuda" was Special Summoned, Nelson activates its first effect to draw a card. Yuma Sets a card.

Turn 5: Nelson
Nelson draws. He then Special Summons "Ironhammer the Giant" (CG Star.svg8/900/3500) in Defense Position via its own effect as he controls "D.D. Esper Star Sparrow", "Beast-Warrior Puma", and "Phoenix Beast Gairuda". Nelson activates the effect of "Number 83: Galaxy Queen" to detaching one "Triple Star Trion" ("Galaxy Queen": 2 → 1 ORU) and allow his monsters to inflict piercing damage this turn and become immune to being destroyed by battle until Yuma's next End Phase.

"Gairuda" attacks "Utopia". The second effect of "Gairuda" then increases its ATK by 300 during the Damage Step only ("Gairuda": 2500 → 2800 ATK), but Yuma activates the effect of "Utopia" to detach an Overlay Unit ("Utopia": 2 → 1 ORU) and negate the attack. "Esper Star Sparrow" attacks "Utopia", but Yuma activates the effect of "Utopia" ("Utopia": 1 → 0 ORU) to negate the attack.

Turn 6: Yuma
Yuma draws "Vector Change". He then activates "Attraffic Control", which prevents Nelson from attacking whenever he controls three or more monsters. Yuma Sets two cards.

Turn 7: Nelson

Nelson draws. On Nelson's Standby Phase, control of "Ironhammer" returns to him. He then activates his face-down "Change to Jet Iron" to Tribute "Sparrow", "Puma", "Gairuda" and "Ironhammer" and Special Summon "Dimensional Jet Iron" (CG Star.svg10/0/0) from his Deck in Attack Position. Due to the first effect of "Dimensional Jet Iron", its ATK becomes equal the combined total ATK of the Tributed monsters ("Jet Iron": 0 → 8000 ATK). As an opponent's monster gained ATK, Yuma activates his face-down "Fiery Fervor", equipping it to "Utopia" and doubling its ATK ("Utopia": 2500 → 5000 ATK). "Jet Iron" attacks "Utopia", but Yuma activates his face-down "Reserve Cyclone" to destroy "Furious Max's Curse" as a monster he controlled switched control and was Tributed. Yuma then activates face-down "Vector Change" to switch "Jet Iron" to Defense Position and "Galaxy Queen" to Attack Position due to "Dimensional Jet Iron" declaring an attack. Nelson Sets a card.

Turn 8: Yuma
Yuma draws. "Utopia" attacks "Galaxy Queen", but Nelson activates his face-down "Star Sparrow Forever" to revive "Esper Star Sparrow" in Attack Position with 0 ATK (CG Star.svg10/3000 → 0/1500) and change the attack target to it. "Utopia" then destroys "Esper Star Sparrow" (Nelson: 4000 → 0 LP).
