SummaryEdit

The Shepherd completes his army's formation.

In Cafe Nom, Kolter comments that The Shepherd is quite troublesome. The score stands with The Shepherd and Playmaker each on 4000 LP, and Shepherd controlling "Battledrone Sergeant" and "Battledrone General", while Playmaker controls "Clock Wyvern" and the bound "Shootingcode Talker". Shepherd activates the effect of "Battledrone General", which glows green as he explains that once per turn, he can Special Summon a "Drone" monster from his Graveyard to a zone that it points to. He revives "Drone Pawn", then equips "Battledrone General" with the Equip Spell Card "Drone Launcher Unit", explaining that the equipped monster is unaffected by Playmaker's monsters' effects. Twin cannons are strapped to "General", and Ai gasps that The Shepherd equipped his monster with an awesome weapon and wonders if he's a weapon otaku. Shepherd replies that a soldier gains power by receiving equipment, weapons, and vehicles from excellent superior officers, causing Ai to sweatdrop when he realizes how serious Shepherd is being. Shepherd declares the effect of "Drone Launcher Unit"; Playmaker will take damage equal to the total Link Rating on the field times 100. Ai yelps "Seriously?", and tries to count the field's Link Rating and he declares that it's six. Shepherd snaps that it's seven and asks if Ai can even count. Ai smirks, asking who decided that his info was accurate (mocking The Shepherd's statement from the previous episode), but Playmaker tells him to be quiet, and Ai starts and then grumpily stops. "Battledrone General" wheels around and fires twin blasts of energy at Playmaker, reducing him to 3300 LP.

Playmaker avoids defeat, but heals his LP, preventing him from using his Skill.

Shepherd Sets a card, claiming that his army's formation is complete. Ai protests that theirs isn't, and Shepherd then activates the effect of "Battledrone General", once per turn a Level 4 or lower "Drone" monster he controls with 1000 or less ATK can attack Playmaker directly. He orders "Drone Pawn" to attack, and it fires a barrage of bullets at Playmaker, causing his Avatar to fizzle as he falls to 2700 LP. Shepherd then activates the additional effect of "General" since a "Drone" monster inflicted damage to Playmaker, allowing him to Tribute it and inflict damage to Playmaker equal to its ATK. "Drone Pawn" transforms into a green ball of energy and slams into Playmaker, reducing him to 2100 LP. Then the effect of "Sergeant" activates since "Drone Pawn" dealt direct damage to Playmaker, allowing "Sergeant" to attack directly as well. It wheels around and fires two missiles at Playmaker, reducing him to 1300 LP. Then Shepherd activates the effect of "General" again, Tributing "Sergeant" to inflict damage equal to its ATK to Playmaker. "Sergeant" also transforms into a green energy ball and strikes Playmaker, reducing him to 500 LP. Ai emerges from his hiding place in Playmaker's Duel Disk and sweats, noting that they've been instantly brought down to 500 LP. Shepherd declares battle, attacking "Clock Wyvern" with "Battledrone General". Ai sweats, yelping that it'll be over if they take this attack. But Playmaker activates a Trap Card, "Cure Conversion", allowing him to Tribute the attack target to end the Battle Phase, then draw a card and if it's a monster, he can gain LP equal to its ATK. He draws "Cyberse Wizard", and Ai cheers that they regain 1800 LP, bringing them up to 2300. Ai declares that The Shepherd missed his target, and Shepherd replies that they did as well, much to Ai's confusion. Shepherd clarifies that they won't be able to activate their Skill next turn. Ai sweats nervously, surprised that Shepherd knew that, and Shepherd ends his turn, warning Playmaker that there are only two turns left until his end. He declares that the count's at two.

Playmaker declares his turn, and The Shepherd snaps his fingers and declares "One!" as Playmaker draws. He activates the Spell Card "Cyberse Bridge" from his hand, by sending a Cyberse monster from his hand to the Graveyard, he can move a monster from the Extra Monster Zone to his Main Monster Zone. He sends "Cyberse Wizard" to the Graveyard, then moves "Shootingcode Talker" from the right Extra Monster Zone to the Main Monster Zone below the other Extra Monster Zone. Then he can draw a card, and if it's a monster, he can Special Summon a Cyberse monster with the same Level from his Graveyard, but if he doesn't draw a monster it will be sent to the Graveyard. Shepherd watches as Playmaker draws the Level 4 "Bitrooper", so he Special Summons "Clock Wyvern" from his Graveyard. Then he activates the effect of "Clock Wyvern", halving its ATK to Special Summon a "Clock Token". He chants, "Appear! The circuit that leads to the future!" and sets "Clock Wyvern" and the "Clock Token" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon the Link-2 "Cyberse Witch". Next he activates the effect of "Bitrooper" from his hand, discarding the Level 1 "Trash Hacker" to Special Summon "Bitrooper". Shepherd warns Playmaker that it's pointless for him to Link Summon again; as long has "Capture Drone" is on the field, his Link Monsters can't attack. Playmaker activates the effect of "Cyberse Witch" since a monster was Special Summoned to a zone it points to, and as "Cyberse Witch" glows with a purple aura, he explains that by banishing a Spell from his Graveyard, he can add a Cyberse Ritual Monster and "Cynet Ritual" from his Deck to his hand. He banishes "Cyberse Bridge", and holds up "Cyberse Magician" and "Cynet Ritual", then adds that he can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Cyberse monster from his Graveyard. "Cyberse Witch" holds up her staff, and the orb in the top glows as Playmaker revives "Cyberse Wizard". Then Playmaker activates the Ritual Spell Card "Cynet Ritual" from his hand, and the lines on his suit glow blue. He Tributes monsters from his hand and field whose total Levels equal or exceed the Level of the Cyberse Ritual Monster he's Ritual Summoning. He Tributes the Level 4 "Cyberse Wizard" and "Bitrooper" and chants "The contract has been made. The sage who wields dark power inherits these two souls! Ritual Summon! Descend, Cyberse Magician!"

The Shepherd explains his reasoning for Tributing "General".

Ai cheekily comments that "Capture Drone" doesn't affect Ritual Monsters, and Shepherd grunts as Playmaker Sets a card. Playmaker declares battle, and attacks "Battledrone General" with "Cyberse Magician". "Cyberse Magician" charges forwards, and Playmaker activates the effect of "Trash Hacker" from his Graveyard, banishing it since a Cyberse monster attacked to negate the effects of "Battledrone General" and prevent its destruction in battle this turn, but double the damage from battles involving it. Shepherd starts quietly, and Playmaker adds that "Cyberse Magician" gains 1000 ATK when it battles a Link Monster. "Cyberse Magician" powers up to 3500 ATK, and Ai grins that in combination with the effect of "Trash Hacker", Shepherd will take 2200 damage. But Shepherd activates a Trap Card, "Demolition Drone", Tributing a "Drone" monster to halve the damage he takes this turn. He Tributes "General", which also destroys "Drone Launcher Unit". Ai is surprised that Shepherd got rid of his general, and Shepherd explains that an excellent superior officer is willing to retreat courageously. The effect of "Demolition Drone" halves his damage as "Cyberse Magician" attacks with "Cyberse Magic", blasting a dark burst of magic at Shepherd that knocks him off balance and reduces him to 2750 LP. Ai muses that Shepherd lowered the damage from 2500 to 1250, but wonders if it really worth throwing away "General"? Playmaker ends his turn, and they come to a hole in the floor and fly down the shaft (Ai squealing the entire way down) and then they emerge in another canal.

The Shepherd turns back to face Playmaker and he declares that he'll end this now, counting "Two" and stating that it's the final count. He declares his turn, snaps his fingers, and draws, then activates the effect of "Capture Drone", Special Summoning three "Drone Tokens". He chants "Come out! The circuit that leads to victory!" and sets a "Drone Token" in the Link Arrow to Link Summon another Link-1 "Battledrone Sergeant". Then he chants "Come out again! The circuit that leads to victory!" and sets the other two "Drone Tokens" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon the Link-2 "Medicdrone Dock". Next he activates the Equip Spell Card "Assemble Drone", Special Summoning a "Drone" Link Monster from his Graveyard and equipping it with "Assemble Drone". He revives "Battledrone General", explaining that the monster equipped with "Assemble Drone" will also gain 500 ATK. "Battledrone General" increases to 2900 ATK, and Ai sweatdrops and comments that the general looks incredible. Shepherd then activates the effect of "Battledrone General"; once per turn he can Special Summon a "Drone" monster from his Graveyard to a zone that it points to. He revives "Drone Pawn", and explains that while he controls it, "General" can't attack due to being equipped with "Assemble Drone". Ai wipes his brow, relieved that "General" isn't acting yet, but Playmaker notes that due to the effect of "General", "Drone Pawn" will be able to attack them directly.

"Cyberse Magician" continually protects Playmaker with its "Cyberse Architect" effect.

Shepherd Sets a card, then attacks Playmaker directly with "Drone Pawn", enabled by the effect of "General", which wheels and flies towards Playmaker. Playmaker replies that the effect of "Cyberse Magician" will halve the damage, and "Cyberse Magician" blasts a red beam from his visor, briefly knocking "Drone Pawn" back before it opens fire, reducing Playmaker to 2000 LP. Then Shepherd activates the effect of "General", Tributing "Drone Pawn" since it attacked to inflict its ATK as damage to Playmaker. "Drone Pawn" transforms into a green energy ball again, and Playmaker declares the "Cyberse Architect" effect of "Cyberse Magician" again, who blasts the red beam from his visor, shrinking the ball to half its size. The energy ball strikes Playmaker, reducing him to 1700 LP, and then Shepherd activates the effect of "Sergeant", since a "Drone" monster inflicted damage via a direct attack, "Sergeant" can also attack directly. "Sergeant" wheels around and fires two missiles at them, and Ai reminds him that due to the effect of "Cyberse Magician", the damage is halved. "Cyberse Magician" blasts the missiles, which strike and reduce Playmaker to 1300 LP. Once again, Shepherd activates the effect of "General", Tributing "Sergeant" to inflict its ATK to Playmaker, and "Sergeant" also transforms into a green energy ball. Likewise, "Cyberse Magician" blasts it with an energy beam, halving its size before it strikes and reduces Playmaker to 900 LP.

"Cyberse Witch" strikes down "Medicdrone Dock", allowing Playmaker to escape Shepherd's count.

The Shepherd declares that this is the end. The edges of his clothes glow green as he activates his Skill, "Drone Craft Force"; once per Duel, Playmaker's monster will lose 200 ATK for every "Drone" card in his Graveyard. Ai panics and struggles to count them, and Shepherd finishes that it's five ("Demolition Drone", "Drone Launcher Unit", "Drone Pawn" and two "Sergeant"). Ai gasps in horror as he realizes that "Cyberse Magician" will lose 1000 ATK, and "Cyberse Magician" falls to 1500 ATK. "General" then gains that lost ATK, rising to 3900 ATK. He reminds them that now that he's Tributed "Drone Pawn", "General" is allowed to attack, and orders it to attack "Cyberse Magician". Playmaker activates the effect of "Cyberse Magician" in response since it is battling a Link Monster, allowing it to gain 1000 ATK, restoring it to 2500 ATK. Shepherd declares that it's not enough and orders "Cyberse Magician" to perish. "Battledrone General" fires four missiles, and Ai declares the "Cyberse Architect" effect of "Cyberse Magician" again. "Cyberse Magician" blasts the missiles with its laser before they strike and destroy it, reducing them to 200 LP. Ai gasps that they barely survived, but The Shepherd isn't done, attacking "Cyberse Witch" with "Medicdrone Dock". Ai screams that they'll have zero LP if this attack hits, and Playmaker activates a Trap Card, "Excess Lesser Linker" since a Link-2 or lower monster is battling, making its ATK equal to the ATK of the monster it is battling. "Cyberse Witch" increases to 1000 ATK and she charges forwards to meet "Medicdrone Dock" as they destroy one another. Ai gasps that they destroyed each other, and Shepherd admits that Playmaker is the first to have ever escaped his count during a Duel, and he tells Playmaker that he should feel proud. Then he declares that the effect of "Medicdrone Dock" will activate since it was destroyed, increasing their LP by 1000. He tells Playmaker to regain his LP, and Ai frantically protests that there's no need, it's far too kind, he shouldn't worry about them - and their LP increases to 1200. Ai laments that Shepherd stopped them from using their Skill. The Shepherd tells Playmaker to give up and hand over the Ignis, and Ai tells him to stop joking around; he and Playmaker are tied together by a strong trust and bond.

Kengo at dinner with his mother for her birthday.

The notion of a bond with an A.I. infuriates The Shepherd. He remembers dining with his mother on her birthday, and she thanked him for his birthday wish. He snapped his fingers as he continues to do in the present, and a waiter brought over a birthday cake, causing his mother to laugh and him to smile. After dinner she asked Kengo if he wouldn't reconsider college, and Kengo reassured her that she didn't need to worry; since his father wasn't around, he was grateful that she still let him graduate from high school, and he wanted to work so that his mother could take it easy. His mother was touched by that statement. A taxi pulled up, and Kengo's mother asked if it was safe without a driver. Kengo told her not to be silly; the taxi was loaded with the latest A.I. He asked the taxi to take them to City Area 1825 TX, and the taxi replied "Understood". As they drove, Kengo had praised the A.I. system for selecting the most precise, shortest, and safest route, and his mother had agreed that it was incredible. Kengo had suggested that they celebrate her birthday the following year at a sky restaurant that they passed, and his mother told him that he was getting ahead of himself.

A bloodied Kengo after his and his mother's accident.

But then they came upon an accident in their path. The A.I. attempted to reroute them, but it began to glitch and Kengo asked what was wrong. The A.I. deactivated, and Kengo cursed, telling his mother to duck. The taxi wound up smashing straight into the accident, and blood poured from Kengo's right eye and arm as he watched his mother being taken away on a stretcher, calling her name desperately. In the hospital, Kengo was told that his mother's spinal cord had been so badly damaged that she'd never walk again, and his right arm too. A furious Kengo installed his artificial arm, and later joined the military. Two of his superior officers observed him, noting that even in the cyber division, Kengo was famous for making A.I. surrender using his right arm. Back in the present, The Shepherd snarls that Playmaker's A.I. should be under human control. Ai is confused, and Shepherd states that their remaining LP won't let them activate their Skill, and he ends his turn.

Playmaker uses "Storm Access".

Playmaker declares his turn and thinks that this draw will decide everything. He draws, and as he looks at the card, Shepherd comments that he's in a hopeless situation and can't win. Playmaker asks if he's sure, much to Shepherd's surprise. He activates the Continuous Spell Card "Dimension Link". He pays half his LP to banish a Link Monster he controls, and his LP falls from 1200 to 600. Shepherd gasps as Ai declares that their Link Monster will be "Shootingcode Talker". "Shootingcode Talker" explodes into blue particles, and The Shepherd admits that since "Capture Drone's" target was banished, it will be destroyed. Ai cheers that now their Link Monsters' chains are gone, and they can activate their Skill. But Shepherd activates a Continuous Trap Card, "Drone Cordon", preventing Playmaker's card effects from targeting his "Drones" and his Link Monsters from attacking. Ai gasps, shocked that they still can't attack, but Playmaker reminds them that he still has his Skill. He accelerates forwards, and Ai calls forth a Data Storm. Ai tells Playmaker to seize the wind, and Playmaker activates his Skill, "Storm Access". He reaches forwards as the Data Storm surges past him and a card begins materializing. He grasps the card in his fingers and emerges from the Data Storm.

Playmaker reveals a fusion Spell - "Cynet Fusion".

Playmaker activates the effect of the Ritual Spell "Cynet Ritual" from his Graveyard since he controls no monsters, banishing it and a Ritual Monster from his Graveyard to Special Summon two "Cynet Tokens". He chants, "Appear! The circuit that leads to the future!" and states that the Summoning conditions are two Cyberse monsters, and he sets the two "Cynet Tokens" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon the Link-2 "Clock Spartoi". He explains that when it's Link Summoned, he can add "Cynet Fusion" from his Deck to his hand. The he activates the effect of "Dimension Link", sending it to the Graveyard to Special Summon the banished "Shootingcode Talker" to a zone "Clock Spartoi" points to with its effects negated and its ATK increased by 600. "Shootingcode Talker" reappears, increasing to 2900 ATK, and Ai cheers that now it has the same ATK as "Battledrone General". Shepherd reminds them that due to the effect of "Drone Cordon" they can't attack. Playmaker just activates the effect of "Clock Spartoi", allowing him to Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Cyberse monster from his Graveyard with its effects negated to a zone "Clock Spartoi" points to. He revives "Clock Wyvern", and then he holds up "Cynet Fusion", declaring that he'll finish off Shepherd with this. Shepherd recognizes what kind of card it is, and Playmaker activates the Spell Card "Cynet Fusion", sending Fusion Materials from his hand and field to the Graveyard to Summon a Fusion Monster as the lines on his suit glow purple. He fuses "Clock Wyvern", "Shootingcode Talker" and "Clock Spartoi". Shepherd gasps "Fusion?!" and Ai cries "You! Go!" (a play on the Japanese pronunciation of "Fusion"). As Playmaker begins to chant, the three monsters dissolve into streams of colored particles. He chants "The strong ones gather before its grand wings! Become a new legend!" The particle streams twist together as he declares "Fusion Summon!" Colored tornadoes twist together into a single purple one as Playmaker chants "Come forth! Cyberse Clock Dragon!"

"Cyberse Clock Dragon" powers up to attack.

Shepherd gasps in shock, and Playmaker declares the effect of "Cyberse Clock Dragon"; when it's Fusion Summoned, he sends a card from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard for every Fusion Material Link Monster's Link Arrow. Ai notes that "Shootingcode Talker" was Link-3, and "Clock Spartoi" Link-2, so that's a total Link Rating of five. Playmaker thus sends five cards from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard (RAM Clouder", "Cyberse Gadget", "Dual Assembwurm", "Bitron" and "Linkslayer"), and for every card sent to the Graveyard, it gains 1000 ATK. Ai declares that it's a 5000 ATK increase, as "Cyberse Clock Dragon" powers up to 7500 ATK, and Shepherd repeats the value in shock. Playmaker declares his Battle Phase, and "Cyberse Clock Dragon" attacks "Battledrone General". Ai states that since "Cyberse Clock Dragon" isn't a Link Monster, "Drone Cordon" can't affect it. "Cyberse Clock Dragon" flies towards "Battledrone General", drawing in purple energy from over its body and into its maw, blasting a purple column of energy that engulfs "Battledrone General". As the light approaches The Shepherd, he's horrified to realize that he lost against an A.I.'s ally, and his LP falls to zero. Playmaker tells him that his count ended in a waste.

Featured Duel: Playmaker vs. The ShepherdEdit

Duel continues from the previous episode.

Playmaker has 4000 LP and controls "Shootingcode Talker" (2300/↑←↓) in his right-hand Extra Monster Zone and "Clock Wyvern" (1800/1000) in Attack Position in his Main Monster Zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Shootingcode Talker" points to, as well as 1 Set card in his Spell & Trap Zone. The Shepherd has 4000 LP and controls "Battledrone Sergeant" (800/↓) in his right-hand Extra Monster Zone and "Battledrone General" (2400/←↓→) in his Main Monster Zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Battledrone Sergeant" points to, as well as "Capture Drone" in his Spell & Trap Zone.

Turn 3: The Shepherd
Shepherd activates the effect of "Battledrone General", Special Summoning a "Drone" monster from his GY to a zone it points to. He Special Summons "Drone Pawn" (600/0) to the zone the middle-left Link Arrow of "General" points to. Shepherd activates the Equip Spell Card "Drone Launcher Unit", equipping it to "General". The equipped monster cannot be targeted by Playmaker's monster effects. Shepherd activates the effect of "Launcher Unit", inflicting damage to Playmaker equal to the Link Rating of all Link Monsters on the field times 100, in this case seven (Playmaker: 4000 → 3300 LP). Shepherd Sets a card. Shepherd activates the effect of "General", letting a Level 4 or lower "Drone" monster he controls with 1000 or less ATK attack Playmaker directly this turn. He targets the Level 1 "Pawn".

"Pawn" attacks Playmaker directly (Playmaker: 3300 → 2700 LP). As a "Drone" monster inflicted battle damage to Playmaker by a direct attack, Shepherd activates the effect of "General", Tributing that monster to inflict damage to Playmaker equal to its ATK (Playmaker: 2700 → 2100 LP). As a "Drone" monster inflicted battle damage to Playmaker by a direct attack, Shepherd activates the effect of "Battledrone Sergeant", allowing it to attack Playmaker directly this turn. "Sergeant" attacks Playmaker directly (Playmaker: 2100 → 1300 LP). Shepherd activates the effect of "General", Tributing "Sergeant" (Playmaker: 1300 → 500 LP). "General" attacks "Clock Wyvern". As a monster he controls was targeted for an attack, Playmaker activates his face-down Trap Card "Cure Conversion", Tributing that monster to end the Battle Phase, then draw a card and reveal it. If it is a Monster Card, Playmaker gains LP equal to its ATK. He Tributes "Clock Wyvern", and draws "Cyberse Wizard", gaining 1800 LP (Playmaker: 500 → 2300 LP).

Turn 4: Playmaker
Playmaker activates the Spell Card "Cyberse Bridge", sending a Cyberse monster from his hand to the GY to move a monster in his Extra Monster Zone to a Main Monster Zone, then draw a card and reveal it, and if it is a Monster Card, Playmaker Special Summons a monster from his GY with the same Level as the drawn card. If the drawn card is not a Monster Card, it is sent to the GY. Playmaker sends "Cyberse Wizard" to the GY, moves "Shootingcode Talker", draws the Level 4 "Bitrooper", and Special Summons the Level 4 "Clock Wyvern" (1800/1000). As "Clock Wyvern" was Special Summoned, Playmaker activates its effect, halving its ATK to Special Summon a "Clock Token" (0/0). Playmaker uses "Clock Wyvern" and the "Clock Token" to Link Summon "Cyberse Witch" (800/↙↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. Playmaker activates the effect of "Bitrooper" in his hand, sending a Level 2 or lower monster from his hand to the GY to Special Summon it from his hand. He sends the Level 1 "Trash Hacker" from his hand to the GY and Special Summons "Bitrooper" to a zone "Cyberse Witch" points to. As a monster was Special Summoned to a zone "Cyberse Witch" points to, Playmaker activates its effect, banishing a Spell Card from his GY to add "Cynet Ritual" and a Cyberse Ritual Monster from his Deck to his hand. He banishes "Cyberse Bridge" and adds "Cyberse Magician" and "Cynet Ritual" to his hand. As the first effect of "Cyberse Witch" was activated this turn, Playmaker activates its second effect to Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Cyberse monster from his GY. He Special Summons the Level 4 "Cyberse Wizard" (1800/800).

Playmaker activates the Ritual Spell Card "Cynet Ritual", Ritual Summoning a Cyberse Ritual Monster by Tributing monsters from his hand or field whose total Levels equal or exceed the Level of that Ritual Monster. He Tributes the Level 4 "Cyberse Wizard" and the Level 4 "Bitrooper" to Ritual Summon the Level 7 "Cyberse Magician" (2500/2000). Playmaker Sets a card. "Cyberse Magician" attacks "General". As a Cyberse monster attacked Shepherd's monster, Playmaker activates the effect of "Trash Hacker" in his GY, banishing it to negate the effects of Shepherd's monster, and doubling the battle damage during battles involving that monster this turn. As "Cyberse Magician" is battling Shepherd's Link Monster, it gains 1000 ATK during damage calculation ("Cyberse Magician": 2500 → 3500 ATK). Shepherd activates his face-down Trap Card "Demolition Drone", Tributing a "Drone" monster he controls to halve any battle damage he would take this turn. He Tributes "General". A replay occurs and "Cyberse Magician" attacks directly (Shepherd: 4000 → 2750 LP).

Turn 5: The Shepherd
Shepherd activates the effect of "Capture Drone", Special Summoning a number of "Drone Tokens" equal to the Link Rating of the targeted monster. "Shootingcode Talker" is a Link-3, so he Special Summons three "Drone Tokens" (0/0) in Defense Position. Shepherd uses a "Drone Token" to Link Summon "Sergeant" (800/↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. Shepherd uses two "Drone Tokens" to Link Summon "Medicdrone Dock" (1000/←→) to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Sergeant" points to. Shepherd activates the Equip Spell Card "Assemble Drone", Special Summoning a "Drone" Link Monster, then equipping it with "Assemble". He Special Summons "General" (2400/←↓→). The equipped monster gains 500 ATK ("General": 2400 → 2900 ATK), but while "Drone Pawn" is on the field, the equipped monster cannot attack. Shepherd activates the effect of "General", Special Summoning "Pawn" to the zone its middle-left Link Arrow points to. Shepherd activates the other effect of "General" to let the Level 1 "Pawn" attack directly this turn.

"Pawn" attacks Playmaker directly. The effect of "Cyberse Magician" halves all damage Playmaker takes (Playmaker: 2300 → 2000 LP). Shepherd activates the effects of "General", Tributing "Pawn" (Playmaker: 2000 → 1700 LP), then "Sergeant", allowing it to attack Playmaker directly. "Sergeant" attacks Playmaker directly (Playmaker: 1700 → 1300 LP), then Shepherd activates the effect of "General" (Playmaker: 1300 → 900 LP). Shepherd activates his Skill "Drone Craft Force", reducing the ATK of Playmaker's monster by 200 for each "Drone" card in his GY, then increasing the ATK of a "Drone" monster he controls by that same amount. He has five "Drone" cards in his GY, so he reduces the ATK of "Cyberse Magician" by 1000 and increases the ATK of "General" by the same amount ("Cyberse Magician": 2500 → 1500 ATK; "General": 2900 → 3900 ATK). "General" attacks "Cyberse Magician". As "Cyberse Magician" is battling Shepherd's Link Monster, it gains 1000 ATK during damage calculation ("Cyberse Magician": 1500 → 2500 ATK). The attack continues, and "Cyberse Magician" is destroyed (Playmaker: 900 → 200 LP). "Dock" attacks "Cyberse Witch". As a Link-2 or lower monster he controls is battling Shepherd's monster, Playmaker activates his face-down Trap Card "Excess Lesser Linker", changing the ATK of his monster to that of Shepherd's monster ("Cyberse Witch": 800 → 1000 ATK). The attack continues and both "Cyberse Witch" and "Dock" are destroyed. As "Dock" was destroyed, Shepherd activates its effect, letting either him or Playmaker gain 1000 LP. He chooses to increase Playmaker's LP (Playmaker: 200 → 1200 LP).

Turn 6: Playmaker
Playmaker activates the Continuous Spell Card "Dimension Link", paying half his LP to banish a Link Monster he controls (Playmaker: 1200 → 600 LP). He banishes "Shootingcode Talker". As the targeted monster left the field, "Capture" is destroyed by its own effect. Shepherd activates his face-down Trap Card "Drone Cordon". "Drone" monsters Shepherd controls cannot be targeted by Playmaker's card effects or for attacks by Playmaker's Link Monsters.

At this point, Playmaker enters the Data Storm. As his LP is 1000 or lower, Playmaker activates his Skill "Storm Access", randomly accessing a card within a Data Storm. Playmaker obtains "Clock Spartoi" and adds it to his Extra Deck.

As Playmaker controls no monsters, he activates the effect of "Cynet Ritual" in his GY, banishing it and a Ritual Monster from his GY to Special Summon two "Cynet Tokens" (0/0). Playmaker uses the two "Cynet Tokens" to Link Summon "Clock Spartoi" (800/↓↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. As "Clock Spartoi" was Link Summoned, Playmaker activates its effect, adding "Cynet Fusion" to his hand. Playmaker activates the effect of "Dimension Link", sending it to the GY to Special Summon the monster banished by its first effect with its effects negated and ATK increased by 600. He Special Summons "Shootingcode Talker" (2300 → 2900/↑←↓) to a zone "Clock Spartoi" points to. As a monster was Special Summoned to a zone "Clock Spartoi" points to, Playmaker activates its effect, Special Summoning a Level 4 or lower Cyberse monster from his GY to a zone it points to, but he cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except Fusion Monsters. He Special Summons the Level 4 "Clock Wyvern" (1800/1000).

Playmaker activates the Spell Card "Cynet Fusion", Fusion Summoning a Cyberse Fusion Monster from his Extra Deck using monsters from his hand or field as Fusion Materials. He fuses "Clock Wyvern", "Shootingcode Talker" and "Clock Spartoi" to Fusion Summon "Cyberse Clock Dragon" (2500/2000) to the Extra Monster Zone. As it was Fusion Summoned, Playmaker activates the effect of "Cyberse Clock Dragon", sending cards from the top of his Deck to the GY equal to the combined Link Rating of the Link Monsters used to Fusion Summon it, then gaining 1000 ATK for each card sent. The combined Link Rating of "Clock Spartoi" and "Shootingcode Talker" is five, so Playmaker sends the top five cards of his deck ("RAM Clouder", "Cyberse Gadget", "Dual Assembwurm", "Bitron", and "Linkslayer") to the GY ("Cyberse Clock Dragon": 2500 → 7500 ATK).

"Cyberse Clock Dragon" attacks and destroys "General" (Shepherd: 2750 → 0 LP).
